Your PMR includes 3 piecesof 1.2V AAA Ni-NH
batteries for eachunit.
To remove the beltclip
It is easierto fit the batteries without thebelt clip
in place.
1.Fitting the batteries

To replace the beltclip
Slide the belt clip down into the slot until it clicks
into place.
Pull the tab forward(away from the handset)
to release the belt clip. Thenlift the belt clip off.
To fit the batteries
When placing the handset in the charge, use
only Ni-MHrechargeablebatteries.
Don't try torecharge the non-rechargeable
batteries.

Connect the main power

with the switch on the socket
set to OFF.
Make sure the battery compartment cover is securelylocked in
place when you are charging the batteries.
Disposed of used batteries safely and in a way that will not

Don't leave dead batteries in your handset.
They might leak if you do.
Then switch on the main socket.
The PMR must be used with mains adaptor,
provided with the unit.

2.Charging the batteries

Battery meter
The battery meteris located in the left corner of the LCD panel. It
looks like a battery with threebars inside. These indicate the
amount of power available. As the power is used the bars will
disappear. when the battery level reachit minimum level, unit will
emit two beep tones and automatically turn OFF thepower.
Place the handsets in the
charging cradle.
To check the charge level, disconnect the jack connector from
the handset, switch on and check the display.
The charge light comes
on when a handset in a
charging cradle.
Battery life
The PMR has abuilt in power saver feature to make the batteries
last longer. But when you are not using the handset, it's better to
switch itoff to save the battery power.
It takes about 6 hours to recharge the batteries fully if they've
become completely run down. Newbatteries take up to 14
hours to charge fully.

Switching on and off
To switchthe handset ON.
Press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display comes
on.
To switchthe handset OFF.
Press and hold the ON/OFF button until the display goes
blank.
You hear amusical tone each time to confirm.
Transmitting range
The talk range depends on environmental and terrain. Itwill be
greatest (up to about 3km or 1 3/4miles) in wide open spaces,
Without obstructions suchas hills or buildings. Don't try touse
two PMR handsets which are less than 1.5m (5feet)apart.If you
do, you may get interference.
Important safety warning
To reduce radio frequency exposure when you're using your
FX-35 ,holdthe handset at least 5cm(2inches)from your face.
Never use your PMR outdoors in a thunderstorm.
Don't use the PMR in the rain.
If your PMR ever get wet, turn it offand remove the batteries.
Dry the battery compartment and leave the cover off for few
hours. Don't use the handset until it is completely dry.
Keep the PMR out of the reach of babies andyoung children.
3.Using the Personal Mobile Radio

The volume level is shown by the bars on the display. You
can change the volume either While you're using your
FX-35 handset,or while the handset is idle (switched on
but not in Use).
Volume control
To adjustthe loudspeaker volume
Press the UP or DN button.
Changing the channels and sub-channels
The PMR haseight channels, numbered 1 to 8. To communicate
with other PMR users within range, you must all have your
handset tuned to the same channel.
Press the F(MENU) button once
The current channel number flashes on thedisplay
Press UP or DN button togo to the channel you want
Press TALK button toconfirm.
Each channel also has 38 sub-channels(sometime call CTCSS
codes) letting you set up group of users within the same
channels, for more private communication. If you have aset a
sub-channel, you can

communicate only with other users tuned to the same channel and
sub-channel.
To turn the sub-channel function off, simply set the sub-channel to
0(zero).Then you can communicate with any PMR user on the same
channel who also turned offsub-channel operation(or whose PMR
handset does not have the feature).
Press the F(MENU) button twice
The current sub-channel number flashes on thedisplay.
Press the or button togo to the sub-channel you want

Transmitting and Receiving. _
PMR transmission is 'one way-at-a-time' while you are speaking,
youcan not receive a transmission.

PMR446 is an open-license band always identify yourselfwhen
transmitting,as other people may be communicating on the same
channel.
To speak to another handset user
Press and hold the TALK button so that the Transmitting
symbol ( ) appear on the LCD panel.
Speak clearly into the microphone, ina normal tone - don't
shout
When you're finished speaking, release the TALK button.

To listen to another handset user
Make sureyou are not pressing the TALK button
Receiving symbol ( ) is shown on the display when the other
person isspeaking. Don't try to transmituntil they have finished.
Monitoring the current channel
Normally thePMR will not pick up very weaksignals. But you can
monitor thecurrent channel forall sounds.
To activate monitoring feature
Press and hold the F(MENU) and DN button at the
same time.The receiving symbol ( )appear on the
display.
Your handset willpick up any signals on the current
channel, including background noise.
Press TALKbutton to stop monitoring.

VOX(voice activated transmission)mode
In VOX mode yourhandset will transmit whenever it detects your
voice (orother noise) without the TALK button pressed. It will
transmit for2 seconds even if you stop talking.
The levelof VOX sensitivity is shown by Numbers on the display.
At thehighest level, the handset will pickup softer noise
(including backgroundnoise); at the lowest level, it will pick up
only quite loud noise.

To turn VOX mode ON and OFF:
Press F(MENU) button Three times
VOX icon display and OF flashes on the LCD panel.
Press UP button to setthe level of sensitivity.
If you press the DN buttonuntil OF appear on the display,
you can turn off the VOX mode.
Press TALK button to confirm the setting.
As long as the handset in VOX mode, VOX is shown steadily
on the display.

Ring tone
Youcan send ring tone to other handsets within range and tuned
tothe same channel,(and sub-channel if applicable), to alert
them you want to communicate with them.
Press and release the CALL button
You can hearring tone for about two seconds,while the
transmitting symbol( ) appear on theLCD panel. Any
other handset within the range andtuned to the same
channel will hear Ring tone, andmay decide to transmit to
you.

Setting Call-Ring tones
Press F(MENU) button for Four times, the unit will enter to

Call-Ring setting mode. The LCD will display 1while 1
is flashing.
Press UP or DN button tochange the Call-Ring tone.
(5 different tones),the different Call-Ring tone can be
heard during changing.
Press TALK button to confirm your settingafter you select
your desired Call-Tone.
Setting Call-Ring off
If youdon't want to hear the call tone, you can set the Call-Ring
mode toOFF.In this stage, you can send the call-ring(default call-
ring number1)to other party but the PMR you held will not sound.

Roger Beep ON/OFFsetting
The rogerBeep is a Tone which is automatically transmitted
whenever the TALK button is released. This lets other person
know thatyou have finished talk and you are now in receive mode.

To enable or disable the Roger Beep tone
Press the F(MENU) button for Five times until the On
flashing on the LCD screen.
Press or button to enable("ON" will appear on the
display) or disable ("OF" will appear on the display) the
key tone feature.
Press TALK button to confirm the setting.
Key tone ON/OFF setting
This featureallows the handset to sound a confirmation tone
whenever keys are pressed.
To turn the Key-Tone ON or OFF
Press the F(MENU) button Six times. The "On " icon
flashes on the display.
Press or button to enable('On ' will appear on the
LCD )or disable ('OF ' Will appear on the LCD) the key tone
feature.
Press TALK button to confirm your setting.

Monitoring Two channels at once(Dual Watch)
Press F(MENU) button for Seven times.
DCM appear on the display while"OF " is flashing.
Select the desired channel by pressing or button.
Press F(MENU) button to change the CTCSS code.
Press or button to selectthe desired CTCSS code.
Press TALK button to confirm the setting.

The display switches backwards and forwards betweenthe two
channels. If handset detects a signal on either channel, it will stop
and receive it. As long as the unit is in Dual watch mode, DCM is
shown steadily on the display.

To end the Dual Watchmode
Press F(MENU) button Seven times.
The channel number flashes on thedisplay.
Press or button until the "OF " shown on the display.
Press TALK button to exit from the Dual Watch mode.

Scanning Channels
When theScan function is tuned on, the handset will continuously
scan thethrough all eight channels and all 38 sub-channels until it
find oneon which another user is transmitting.
Press F(MENU) and button at thesame time.
SCAN appears on the display,and channel number change
continuously. When asignal is detected, the unit willpause
and listen for 4 seconds.
Press button to continue scanningfor main channel.
Press button to scan the Sub-channels.
Press TALK button to stop the scan and communicate or
button to continue scan.
Locking the buttons
With thebutton locked you can transmit (Talk), receive or
monitor(MON) thecurrent channel. Butyou change the
volume ( UP / DN) or use the F(MENU)( ) button.
To lock the button
Press and hold the LOCK button until " "

Toclean your PMR, use a soft cloth dampened with water. Do not
use cleaners or solvent, which may cause damage which may
not covered by guarantee.

purchase shownon your sales receipt. The guarantee does not
cover damageby misuse or negligence, or by excessive voltages.
Please keep your sales(till)receipt-this is your guarantee. You
should alsokeep the original packagingmaterial.
When youfirst unpack your PMR,check for visible damage.
If yousee any damage, don't use the handsets-return the whole
system towhere you bought it .
