Changing the color change potentiometer
With the power to the machine turned off. Remove the old color change
potentiometer by loosening the two outer setscrews of the color change collar.
These are the ones closest to the potentiometer. Then slide the color change
potentiometer out of the collar and the machine. You may have to rotate the color
change collar to get to both outer setscrews.
Unplug the old color change potentiometer by following the cable out of the
potentiometer and unplugging from the connector located on the thread tension
connector. You will also need to remove any cable ties or clips to remove the
potentiometer from the machine. Please make a note of their location so that
after installing the new one they go back in the same place.

Remove the mounting bracket from the old color change potentiometer with a
wrench and install on the new potentiometer in the same orientation as the old
one.
Plug the new color change potentiometer connector into the thread tension
bracket connector but do not install the potentiometer onto the machine.
Turn on power to the machine.
Press the Needle Select button to display the needle bar selection screen.
Turn the color change collar to move the needle bar case to where it is
positioned between needles 1 and 2 as illustrated.
Turn the shaft of the color change potentiometer so that needles 1 and 2 are
flashing on the needle bar selection screen.
Mounting Bracket

Now turn the shaft counterclockwise very slowly until just 2 is flashing.
Install the new color change potentiometer onto the machine by inserting the
shaft in to the color change collar and also that the mounting bracket goes into
the slot. Make sure not to turn the shaft while inserting it into the machine. Then
tighten the two outer setscrews to hold it into position. If you have to rotate the
collar to get to the second setscrew, make sure that one is tightened before
rotating.
Slowly rotate the color change collar counterclockwise so that needle 2 is still
displayed and that the “N” changes to an “O” on the needle bar selection screen
that is displayed on the right of the screen. This “O” means that the machine is
directly on needle number 2.
Check to make sure that the needle the machine is on matches the needle
displayed by color changing with the arrow keys and checking all the needles.
Press the End key when done.
Make sure to reinstall any wire ties or clips that hold the wire of the potentiometer
and you are finished.
