Cautions on Use
The sewing machine will co ntinue to attach buttons as long as the treadle is depressed.
Be sure
to turn the power off b efo re beginning a ny adjustment unless specifically directed to turn the power on.
(Installation)
* Plea se be sure to use a table 40 mm in thickn ess.
In case that the table is thicken or thinner than 40 mm, malfunction occurs.

*Re fer to the diagram below to prepare the work table for se wing machin e installation .
(The
low er hol e for the starter should be !1l4 dia . and about 30 mm deep; th at for the control box power sw it ch should
be !1l3 and about 20 mm deep .)

1. Align the mounting holes in the s tarter 0 with the holes
in the table.
2. Secure the starter 0 to the bottom of the table with
round-head wood screws @ and the bed mounting
screw (1 screw).
* Be sure the s tart er connecting rod 0 is on the sa me
s ide as the sewing machine op era ting lever.

[31 Vibration bowl
~ Control box
[5] Sewing machine head
1. Install the vibration bowiO with bolt e, lockwasherE),
and washer e.
2. Pass the wires from the vibration bowl 0 through the
hole in the table.

1. Mount the control box 0 to the bottom of the work
table with round-head wood screws e.
1. Lightly secure the sewing machine bed 0 in place with
bolts e. washers e. lock washers e and nuts 0.
2. Firmly tighten the nuts 0 after the button feeder is
installed.
(Connect ground wire 0)

161 Button feeder
*Tilt the sewing machine.
1. Align the corners of the machine bed 8 and button feeder base 8 (A and B on machine bed 8 with a and b,
respectively, on feeder base f)), and secure firmly with washer 0, lock washer 0, and bolt 8. Make sure there is no
film left at A on machine bed 8).
2. Slide the sewing machine bed table 8 and button feeder base 8 as necessary to pass Allen bolts 0 with lock
washers 0 and washers 0 up through the screw holes from the bottom of the table.
(Connect ground wire E).)
Now firrrily tighten the nuts on the bolts holding the sewing machine bed table in place 8.
(Refer to 151 on the previous page.)

*Connect all wires and connectors as indicated in the figrues below.

H]J Starter connecting rod and operating lever
1. Tilt the sewing machine.
*Attach the button feeder cover 8 to the button feeder
f) with screw e, lock washer e, and washer 0.
* Be sure to pass the wires through the hole in the cover
when attaching the button feeder cover

1. Raise the shooter lock pin 8 on the vibration bowl 8,
and secure the shooter e by inserting the pin e
through the notch in the shooter.
2. Secure the shooter 8 with thumb screw 8 on button
feeder
0.
2. Mount the spring peg 8 on the bottom of the sewing machine bed table.
3. Mount the operating lever spring 8 on the peg.
4. Pass the starterconnecting rod pin 8 through the starterconnecting rod 0 and operating lever 0, and secure the pin
with washer 0 and snap ring
8.
·* After this installation refer to page 22 and readjust the starter solenoid.
* As shown in the figure above, the hole in the starter connecting rod 8 are not located in the center of the rod.
Mount the rod with the wider hole-to-edge gap towards the operating lever spring f).

Adjustment of the vibration ball
(1) Switch ON the pow er switc h.
(2)
Switch ON the sw itch 0 for the con tro l box.
(3)
Turn the adjustment knob @.
Th e amount of vibration of the vibratio n ba ll will
increase when the knob is turned to the r ight, and will
decrease when t he knob is turned to the left.
*Th e vibrating bowl arranges the face of th e buttons in the same direction, and feeds the buttons to the shooter.
If th e buttons are not fed properly , adjust as follows .
(1) Loosen and adjust set scr ew @ so that two buttons can pass through the gap bet ween the bottom of al ignment
plate B 0 and the vib r at ing bow l.
( 2) Loosen and adjust set screw 0 so that one but t on ca n pass through t he gap be tween the botto m of alignment
plate C 9 and the v ibrating bow l.
Make sure any st anding buttons are turned dow n, and that the buttons fl ow smoothly.
(3) L oose n and adjust set screw 0 so th at one button can pass th r ough the gap between the bo t tom of ali gnment
pla te A 0 and the vi brating bowl.
(4) L oose n a nd adjust bolt 0 so t hat th e button faces are ali gned when the sorting pla te 0 is slid in and out.
(5) L
oose n a nd ad ju st sc r ew ~ so that th e gap between the bottom of the hei ght control plate 0 and the button top
is approx im ately 0.7 mm.
(6) Loosen scr ew 0 . and adjust the gap between the bu tton and bu tto n width contro l plate G) to appro xima tely

mm so th at the b utton s will be fed sm oothly to the shoo ter.

When buttons j am at the entrance to the shooter, loosen thumb scr ew 'f) and tu rn so that the buttons do not jam
at the e ntran ce.
* The vib r ating bow l s hould be a djust ed each time the button s are changed.

[3) Sewing
1. Button feeder switch
* Be sure to set the switch 0 to ON.
2. Trouble indicator
(1) When buttons are being fed to the button clamp,
the trouble indicator f) will be OFF.
(2) When the trouble indicator f) is flashing, buttons
are not supplied
to the button clamp.
If the emergency stop indicator on the operation panel
is blinking, press EMERGENCY STOP ·to turn the
indicator off.
3. Manual switch 6).
* Operates as the button-feeding switch.
* Only operable when the mode switch is set to
"head" and the stop lamp is not flashing.
4. Crossover-stitch switch 8
* Can be used for selection of crossover stitch or no
crossover stitch
for 4-hole buttons.
* When "no crossover" is selected, sewing is started
twice
for one button.
* If "crossover" is selected, sewing is started only
once.
*Turn the power switch on. If a button is in the button
clamp, the button will be sewn on wlien the start pedal
0 is pressed.
Buttons
will continue to be attached if the pedal 0 is
held depressed. Release the pedal
0.
To feed a button to the button clamp, turn the vibrating
bowl and button feeder switch on.
~ Adjustment for excess buttons in the button shooter
(1) Turn the button carrier 0 by hand in the direction of
the arrow, and remove any button(s) from the button
carrier pin e.
(2) With the button carrier 0 in this position, pull lever 6)
to remove any excess buttons from the shooter at
point A. ·
(3) Press the manual switch to feed a button to the button
clamp. Press the pedal to begin sewing.

*Before making this adjustment, be sure to switch OFF the power switch and stop the motor pulley.
161 Needle installation
(1) Remove bed base cover R8 and removethe V-beltf.).
For installation and removal of the V-belt f.), it can be
more easily removed
while the pulley e at the
machine side is being manually turned.
(2) Remove the arm bed holding belt 0 and tilt the
machine
downward.
(1) With the long groove of the needle 8 facing to the
front, insert the needle all the way in and secure
with
set screw e.

III Adjustment for buttons of different external diameter
1. Bed slide ad ju stment

(1) Adjust the widt h of the s lide table assembly f) by using th e slide table screw E) so that the buttons 0 pass a long
smooth ly.
The bed sl
ide tab le assembly f) can be adjusted for butt on di ame ters of 9 to 22 mm.
Ad ju st so that the clearance between the buttons 0 and th e edge of the slide table assembly f) is 0.5 -1.0 mm.
(2) There are two di ff erent button upper covers 0 .The cove r for sta nd ard bu tton sizes of 9 to 17 mm is initially
installed.
To attach butto ns from 15to 22 mm in diam eter, loosen sc r ew 0 a nd replace cover 0 (non sta nd ard accessories).

ew 0 and ad ju st button stopper s haft 0 so that button stopper sha ft 0 intervenes between buttons.
2. Button clamp adjus tm ent
(1) Loosen step
screw 0 and insert a button into the button clamp f) .
(2) Lightly tighten step sc r ew 0 . and remove the button.
(3) Close the button clamp f) opening 0.5 to 1.0 mm using the plate E) .
(4 ) Firmly tighten step screw 0.

(1) Check to be sure that buttons 0 are being smoothly
sent to the shooter e. Replace the shooter.
(2) Adjust the bed slide height so the buttons 0 slide
smoothly.
Install accessory spacers as required by the button
thickness.
(3) Check to be sure that buttons are being securely
grasped by the button clamp.
* The standard gap is for buttons 1.8 to 2.2 mm thick.

Af ter adjus ting the button clamp 0 so the needle e nt ers the center of button holes A and B, firmly ti ghten bolt 6 .
* If the p ull ey is turned by hand, be s ur e to turn the pull ey thro ugh th e end of th e stitch.
2. Vertical feed position
* Whe n sew ing buttons with two hol es, set the verti ca l feed adjustmen t l ever 0 to @.
* When se wing buttons with four he~ l es, set th e vertical feed adjustment l ever 0 to the but ton ho le gap on the
horizontal feed lever scal e.
Butt on hole gap
(1) After ad ju sting the hor izontal f ee d pos it io n, co ntinue turn ing the pulley to ali gn the needle with bu tt on hole C.
( 2) Ad ju st vertical feed adj us tm e nt lever 0 to th e vertical feed scale 0.
(3) L oosen bolt 6 , and s hift the bu tt on cl amp 0 so that the needle will enter the cent er of button holes A and C.
(4) T urn the pulley to check th at the needle enters th e center of button ho les C and D.
" Check that the needle e nt ers the ce nter of b utt on holes A, B, C, and D.
Adj ust the horizontal feed for button holes A ~ B a nd C • D.
Adjust the vert i ca l feed f or button ho les A ~ C.

4. Adjustment of the button receiver

Two holes
(1) Loosen the screw 0 and exchange the button carrier
plate
G).
Four holes
(1) Check whether or not the feeder switch G) is at the ON position.
(2) While pressing and holding the manual switch 48, switch ON the power switch.
(3) While continuing to hold the manual switch 48, move the arm 0 for button movement until it grasps a button.
* Assist the button clamp by lifting up.
(4) Adjust so that the needle tip and the button receiving pin ~ coincide.
Loosen
bolt ~ and adjust the entire button feeder left or right.

5. Button clamp and button carrier adjustment
*Please use following 3 types of button clamp depending on the slape of button.

(1) Remove the button clamp O.

(2) Remove and change the button carrier plate e. (Tighten the screw E) temporarily.)
(3) Move the button carrier shutter 0 in the direction of the arrow, and set the gauge0 in the button carrier plate e.
(4) Move the button carrier plate e so that the shaft 0 is in the gauge 0.
(5) Remove the gauge 0 from the button carrier plate e. and tighten the screw E).
" Repeat
(4) and check again.
(6) Attach the button clamp fit for the button type.
