I. When the machine pulley 0 is turned in the direction oft he arrow, the upper shaft f) rotates and in turn rotate s
the thread take-up crank e.
2. The movement of the thread take-up crank e is then tr ansmitted to the needle bar connecting link 0 via the
needle
bar crank stud 0 which is connected to the thr ead take-up crank e.

[II FEED MECHANISM
I. When the lower shaft 0 rotates in the direction of the arrow, the eccentric cam 8 connected to the lowershaft
0 turns.
2. Next, the eccentric wheel8, which is fitted onto the eccentric cam 8, makes the feed driving lever 8 move
vertically.
3. The feed rock crank 8 connected to the feed driving lever 8 moves in direct relation to the feed regulator 8.
4. The motion of the feed rack crank 8 is then transmitted to the feed bar assembly 0 via thefeed drive shaft 8.
5·. The end of the lower shaft 0 is the eccentric connecting link stud and vertically drives thefeed barassembly8
by means of the upper feed link 8.
* The action of steps 4 and 5 determines the movement of the feed dog I) which is connected to the feed bar
assembly 0.

[!] PRESSER MECHANISM
•
I. Raising the presser bar lifter lever 0 causes the presser bar clamp 0 to rise.
2. This causes the presser bar 8, which is held by the presser bar clamp 0, to rise.
3. The presser foot 8 is connected to the presser bar 8 and rises in unison with the presser bar 8.
4. The top of the presser bar 8 is depressed by the presser bar leaf spring 8; tightening down the presser bar
adjustment screw 8 increases the pressure on the presser bar.
5. When the knee lifter 8 is pushed in the direction of the arrow, the complying bar8 connected to the oil pan
raises the knee lifterconnecting rod 0 and raises the knee lifter liftinglink evia the knee lifterhorizontalshaft

6. The knee lifter lifting link e is connected to the needle bar clamp 0.
[!] TENSION RELEASE MECHANISM
I. When the presser foot has been raised by the
knee lifter 0, the tension release lever 8 and
screw 8 riding on the knee lifter horizontal
shaft 8 are raised.
2. The tension release lever 8 pushes the tension
release pin 8 causing-the tension releasing disc
8 to float. The thread tension assembly is now
unable to apply pressure on the thread.
3. When the presser foot is not raised, the tension
spring 8 applies pressure to the tension disc in
the thread tension assembly.

[II LUBRICATION MECHANISM
I. Oil from the oil pump assembly 0 is supplied to the oil gauge f) and to the bevel gear8 for the rotary hook.
2. Oil is supplied from the oil gauge f) to the needle bar connectinglink 8 and oil tank 8. Oil sprayed around the
needle
bar connecting link 8 oils the frame assembly 0 (needle bar clamp, etc.).
3. The oil tank 8 supplies oil to the zigzag mechanism, lower rotary hook shaft bushing(middle) and rotary hook
complete.
4. Oil
that collects in the arm chin part is sucked into the oil pump assembly 0 through the felt-tipped tube O.
* The face plate, name plate, side plate R, and arm cover are each lined with packing to prevent oil leaks.
* Arm oil shield 0 prevents oil from spraying towards the face plate.
* Oil is supplied to the gear box cover CJi) side of the machine from the oil tank 8.
Ill Oil Pump Mechanism
I.
The pump gear f) turns when the gear 0
attached to the lower shaft turns.
2. When the
pump gear f) turns, oil is pumped by
the screw lifter
part (bottom end) of the rotating
shaft
8. The oil passes through the tubes
connected
to the two outlet tubes 8 on the
bottom of the oil pump assembly and the oil is
supplied to the oil gauge, oil tank, and rotary
hook.
3. Oil
is intaken through the eccentric part of the
rotating shaft
8.
* Any oil accumulated in the arm chin part is
suctioned by the felt-covered tube 0 connected
to the tube 8 at the top of the oil pump
assembly.

I. Pull the wick 0 left or right and remove it.
2. Loosen the four screws
8, and confirm that the two collars 8 move.
3. Loosen the screw 8.

5. Pull the feed drive shaft 8 to the left and remove.
6. Now the two collars 8
and drive shaft arm assembly 8 can be removed.
7. Refer to page
13 for felt 0 and wick 0 replacement.

Presser Bar
I. Raise the machine.

2. Remove the two screws 0, and remove the thread take-up lever 8. The thread take-up mountingdisc8 can
also be removed.
3. Remove the eight screws 8, and remove the face plate 8. The packing 8 can also be removed.
4. Loosen the work clamp adjustment screw 8 until there
is no pressure applied to the presser bar 0.
* Note that if the screw is loosened too much the presser bar leaf spring 8 will come out.
5. Loosen the screw G) for the presser bar clamp 1), and lower the presser bar 0; remove the presser bar clamp
I) and link assembly. together. r-'\
6. After removing the screw 1), remove the presser bar 0 from the top.
* Be careful not to lose the presser bar ball bearing CD on the top of the presser bar 0.
Needle Bar
7. Remove the screw 8 and remove the needle bar thread guide 8.
8. Loosen the screw e·, and remove the needle bar 8 from the top.
* When the needle bar 8 is removed, the needle bar clamp G) can be removed.
9. Loosen the screw f), and pull pin F fD forward and out.
10. Loosen the screw fJ, and remove the needle bar frame f).
* Loosen the screws e and fJ to the thread take-up crank fl, and the needle bar crank stud. and needle bar
connecting link 8 can be removed.

I. Raise the machine.
2. Mount the timing belt 0 from the hole on th e t op of the a rm onto timing pulley U 0 of the upper shaft 8 .
3. Mount the machine pulley G onto th e upp er s haft 8 and tighten the two mounting screws 8.
* Tighten th e front mounting screw 8 , the screw found on the.f orwa rd side of th e rotational direction of the
machine pull ey, a djacent to the screw in the upper shaf t 8 .
4. Ti lt the mach ine.

Mount the timing belt 0 onto timing pull ey U 0 .
6. Turn the machine pulley G by hand , and mount the timing belt 0 onto timing pulley D 0 .
* Turn ing the machin e pulley G will mount the timing be lt 0 firmly onto pulley D 0.
7. Insert the s pring 8 and pin 0 . and install the le ngth control dial C).
* Mount th e edge of the len gth control dia l into the Y-groove of the backstich unit.
8.
Mount the feed regulator stud 41) in link D and feed regula tor le ver D and tight en it in place with mounting
screw 4D .
9. Mo unt th e reverse shaft 4B from the arm side, pass it through feed regulator l ever U 4J) an d secure with
mounting screw e.
10 . Install the reverse lever shaft 4B and reverse le ver 6) with three set screws fn .
II . Loo sen scr ew 8 .set the reverse lever 6) to th e center position an d retight en the screw.
12 . Turn the length control dial and set the feed length to "0 " (the lowest setting).
* The reverse lever G) s hould not move vertically. (If it moves, tighten the le ngth co ntr ol dial. Refer to page 16 .)

Needle Bar
1. Mount the needle bar crank rod assembly 0 in the arm chin part.
2. Push pin F 8 all the way in,
and temporarily tighten set screw 8.

3. Mount the needle bar 8 from the top of needle bar crank rod assembly8; pass itthrough the needle bar clamp
8 and temporarily tighten set screw 8.
4. Set the zigzag width scale to "0". With the needle bar 8 in the center of the oval hole in the arm chin part,
temporarily tighten set screw
8.
5. Install the needle bar thread guide 0 anq set screw 0 onto the needle bar G.
* Before installing the needle bar above, install the needle bar crank stud I) and needle bar connecting link e
with screws CB and 48.
Presser Bar
6. Insert the presser bar 8 into the arm chin part and screw set screw e into the presser bar CJ.
7. Hook the link tD hole ontothe horizontalshaft 8. Passthe presser bar Cl throughthe presser bar clamp C1 and
temporarily tighten set screw 1).
8. Set the presser bar ball bearing 8 onto the top of the presser bar Cl. Tighten adjustment screw fl so that the
presser
bar leaf spring fJ does not come off the presser bar.
Make the adjustments on the following pages after assembling the machine as above. After adjustments are
completed, install the face plate
fl and packing fD with eightscrews fl. Then install the thread take-up lever e
and presser plate spring • with two screws e.

2. Set the zigzag width scale to"0". (Turn the machine pulley and confirm that the needle tip does not move either
left
or right.)
* If the zigzag width will not assume a "0" position, refer to page 18 and 19 for adjustment.
3. Loosen the set screw e and move the needle
bar crank rod assembly 0 left or right so that the needle tip is
centered left and right in the needle hole of the needle plate.
4. Firmly tighten set screw

Adjust the front-back position of the needle bar.
I. Loosen screw
8; depress pin F and/ orR and move the needle barcrank rod assembly0 so thatthe needle tip is
centered front and back in the needle hole of the needle plate.
2. Make sure there is no play in the forward-back direction ofthe needle barcrank rod assembly and that it moves
lightly when the needle zigzags.
3. Firmly tighten set screw

Adjust the presser foot height
I. Install the presser foot

2. Raise the presser foot • with the presser bar lifter lever e.
3. Place a 7.I mm thick blockgauge underthe presser foot.; while pushingthe presser bar clamp G) down, firmly
tighten set screw fl.
When adjustments are completed, install the needle, presser foot and needle plate.

IT] FEED MECHANISM
I. Tilt the machine.
2. Mount the feed driving shaft 0 from the left side of the arm bed, passing it through thefeed drivingshaft arm
8, crank 8, and collar 8 in that order.
* Mount the link connected to the feed driving shaft arm 8 on the end of the lower shaft.
3. Align the left end of the feed driving shaft 0 with the arm bed and tighten the set screw 8 for the collar 8.
4. Make sure there is no left-right play in the feed driving shaft 0.
5. Remove the oil cap 8 and insert the wick 8 through the feed drivingshaftO. (Pull out aprox. 100 mm of the
wick 8 from center
of the feed driving shaft 0.)
6. Replace the oil cap 8.
* To replace the felt: loosen the set screw, remove the feed bar hinge pin, and replace.
7. Adjust the needle and feed timing.
(I) On models LZ2-8852, 8853 and 8854: On 8852, set the mark on the thread take-up lever 8 to the ~ mark
on the face plate;
on 8854, set it to :E ;on model 8853, center the mark between the ~ and :~: marks.
(2) After properly positioning the mark on the thread take-up lever 8. loosen the two set screws CD and align
the marks
on the eccentric cam 0 and eccentric wheel Cf).
* When the adjustment is ended, firmly retighten the two set screws fD.
8. Set the feed length regulator to "0 .. , the smallest setting.
9.
Turn the machine pulley and with the crank 8 positioned where it does not move,firmly tighten fillister screw
••
10. Temporarily tighten set screw 8 until the front-back position adjustment of the feed dog is completed.

I. Temporarily install the rotary hook 0 with two screws 8.
2. Temporarily install the rotary hook position bracket 0 with set screw 8.
3. Install the needle.
4. Adjust the needle
and rotary hook timing.

* Set the zigzag width to '"0". (On model LZ2-B853, set the needle position adjustment lever to the center.)
Turn the machine pulley and align the mark on the thread take-up lever with the ''cp'' mark on the face plate.
Now, align the rotary
hook point 0 with the needle center, and set the needle to rotary hook point 8 gap
between 0 f"V 0.05 mm. Then firmly tighten the screw 8.
* Set the zigzag width to the maximum setting. (5 mm on model LZ2-B852, and 8 mm on models LZ2-B853 and
8854.)
Turn the machine pulley and set the needle to its furthest left position.
Loosen needle
bar clamp set screw 8 and verticallyshift the needle bar 8. adjustingthe gap betweenthe rotary
hook point 8 and top edge of the thread hole in the needle to between 0.1 f"V 0.5 mm when the rotary hook point
is aligned with the needle center.
Also, reconfirm
that the rotary hook to rotary hook point gap is between 0 -v 0.05 mm.
5. Install the feed
dog 8 with the two set screws 0.
6. Install the needle plate 0 with the two screws 1).
7. Set the length control dial to the maximum setting.
8. Adjust the centering·of the feed
dog in the needle plate.
* Loosen set screw e and adjust the front-back, and right-left gaps with the feed driving shaft arm 41 so that the
feed
dog 8 does not strike the needle plate 0 when the machine pulley is turned.
9. Adjust the feed
dog height and bias.
Feed Dog Height Adjustment
I.
Standard height when the feed dog 8 is raised to its highest position above the needle plate is 0.8 mm.
2. Loosen the set screw 1), turn the feed bar lifting link hinge pin 1), and adjust the feed dog to a height 0.8 mm
above the needle plate.
·* After adjustment, firmly tighten the set screw G).
Feed Dog Level Adjustment
I. When the feed
dog 8 is raised above the needle plate, standard level is when thefeed dog8 and needle plate are
parallel.
To prevent puckering, adjust the feed dog bias so that the front is raised.
To prevent material from slipping (stitching from skipping), adjust the feed dog 8 level so that the front is
lowered.
2. When adjusting the feed
dog 8 level, loosen the two set screws 41. and adjust the feed bar hinge pin 4D with a
90° range from the standard (reference) position.
* When the feed dog 8 level is adjusted, the feed dog height will change, making it necessary to recheck the feed
dog height.
* After adjustment, firmly tighten the two set screws CJ.

[I] NEEDLE BAR POSITION (LEFT AND RIGHT) ADJUSTMENT
I. Remove the arm top cover and then make the

2. Set the zig1.ag width scale to .. 0".
3. Loosen set screw 8 from the top of the arm.
4. Adjust the needle
bar crank rod 8 so that the
needle
is positioned in the center of the needle
hole in the needle plate.
5. Firmly retighten set screw 8.
Center, left-right of oval hole
[I] NEEDLE BAR POSITION (FRONT AND BACK) ADJUSTMENT
I. Remove the thread take-upguard cover and face
plate
and then make the adjustment.
2. Loosen the two screws 8.
3. Push pin R 8 and/ or pin F 0 to adjust the
needle so
that it comes to thecenter of the needle
hole in the needle plate.
4. Firmly retighten the two screws
8.
* When theadjustment is completed make surethe
needle
bar frame does not move forward and
back, and
that the needle moves easily and
smoothly when
it zigzags.
[I] STITCH LENGTH ADJUSTMENT
I. Turn the length dial 8 clockwise all the way in
(in the direction ofthe arrow), and make surethe
reverse
lever& does not move up ordown.lfthe
reverse lever 8 moves, loosen set screw 0 and
turn the length control dial& counter-clockwise
back. Then retighten set screw 0 and check for
any vertical movement
in the reverse lever 8.
Repeat this operation until the reverse lever 0
will not move when the length control dial& is
turned all the way in.
2. Turn the machine pulley and make sure the feed
scale reaches "0". If the feed scale
will read "0",
loosen set screw 8 and adjust the feed carrier8
bias with the crank 8.
* When set screw8 is loosened, makesurethere is
no movement in the feed regulator shaft f).
3. Loosen set screw 0 and install the reverse lever
so
that it is level.
Make the following adjustments on models LZ2-
B852 and 8854.
4. Set the length control dial 0 to the maximum
setting.
5. Check ifthe length set on the length control dial
