OVERVIEW
Regal expands its lineup for 2012. New fuel-saving eAssist
technology and the new GS model debut, giving Regal added
fuel economy and performance credentials. Expanded luxury
and convenience features are also added. During the model year
Regal adds a new Color Touch Radio with IntelliLink that will
include enhanced connectivity. To simplify ordering, new Preferred
Equipment Groups replace previous packages.
WHAT’S NEW
• Exterior: Bright portholes, OSRV mirrors with integrated turn
signal indicators, Black chrome waterfall grille. Door handles
with chrome accents included on Premium equipment groups
and GS.
• Universal Home Remote, EZ Key passive entry system, Push
Button Start and Remote Vehicle Start now standard on
Premium and GS models.
• Late availability: Color Touch Radio with IntelliLink connectivity
and 7" screen.
• Available harman/kardon 336-watt, 9-speaker 5.1 Matrix

be started by the remote key. Automatically activates
vehicle temperature settings for the climate control system.

• EZ Key passive entry system and Push Button Start – A
wireless key fob system that enhances convenience. When it’s
within range, the key fob can automatically lock and unlock

• Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist – Alerts the driver with an
audible warning about certain stationary objects near the rear

with the vehicle’s audio system for hands-free voice-activated

of High-Intensity Discharge lighting on both low and high

compatible iPods, MP3 devices and thumb drives to the
vehicle’s audio system. Once connected, use the vehicle
audio system controls to operate the device and access

• SD card reader – An SD card reader is included with the
available audio system with navigation. It offers another
convenient way to play back media files through Regal’s audio

• OnStar – The Directions & Connections Plan is standard for

audio system includes a 7" color touch-screen display, seven

• Ecotec 2.4L DOHC VVT SIDI E85 4-cylinder engine – Dual
overhead cams, Variable Valve Timing and direct fuel injection
give Regal excellent low-end torque response that smoothly
builds torque to its peak at 4900 rpm. E85 FlexFuel capability
is added for 2012. Standard on Regal 1SL, Premium I and
Premium II equipment groups.

• Ecotec 2.4L DOHC VVT SIDI 4-cylinder engine with eAssist –

be lost. The technology can also provide added performance

uses the momentum of the car to spin a motor-generator that

battery pack. The process captures, recycles and stores energy
that would otherwise be lost. The powertrain’s state-of-
the-art lithium-ion 115V battery and 15kW electric motor-
generator enhance fuel economy by:
– Providing electric power assistance during acceleration. This
results in a final drive ratio of 2.64, which requires less work
for the engine at cruising speeds and less fuel consumption.
– Providing fuel cutoff when coming to a stop and automatic

power from less fuel. The process injects fuel directly into

Ecotec and the 2.4L Ecotec with eAssist engines benefit

V6 engines, but with the efficiency of a 4-cylinder. The available

POWER & PERFORMANCE
• Ecotec 2.0L DOHC SIDI VVT turbocharged 4-cylinder –
Drivers will experience phenomenal throttle response plus
impressive fuel efficiency with this advanced engine. Regal’s
turbocharging technology creates up to 20 psi of boost,
allowing the engine to generate peak torque at just 2000 rpm.
– 220 hp @ 5300 rpm.
– 260 lb.-ft. of torque @ 2000 rpm.
• Dual-scroll turbocharger – To create boost, dual exhaust
passages funnel gases into rotating turbine impellers that
turn up to 162,000 times per minute. Drivers will feel the
type of immediate throttle response associated with a high-
performance engine, and virtually no turbo lag.
• Intercooler – Enhances the power-increasing benefits of the
engine’s turbocharging system. Reduces the temperature
of the compressed air feeding into the engine’s cylinders by
nearly 212 degrees. This cooler air is denser, which means that
more oxygen is packed into the engine’s cylinders for optimal
combustion and, consequently, greater power.
• Spark Ignition Direct Injection (SIDI) – Direct injection allows
the Ecotec 2.0L turbo to operate at higher boost with a
higher compression, increasing output and efficiency. Direct
injection cools the intake process compared to conventional
port injection. Fuel is sprayed directly into the combustion
chamber to further cool the charge which increases efficiency
and horsepower. Specifically designed intake ports generate
precise air flows to produce a thorough burn of the air/fuel
mixture. This process helps Regal turbo models produce the
power of a V6 from only four cylinders.
• Variable Valve Timing – Optimizes the engine’s turbocharging
system by adjusting valve timing at lower rpm for improved
turbo response and greater torque delivery.
• 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive – The
electronically controlled 6-speed automatic transmission was
calibrated specifically for the turbo engine’s enhanced power
capabilities. For 2012, it has been revised for improved fuel
economy. Includes Driver Shift Control for clutchless manual

back pressure and, consequently, more horsepower and
torque. The Regal GS turbo has the response and acceleration
