Introduction
Caldura refrigeration products are professional units designed primarily for
use in guest rooms.
By employing state of the art digital technology, Caldura Digital Silent Mini
Fridges represent a much needed breakthrough in the Hospitality/In-room
Fridge market. The Digital Controller ensures optimum power consumption,
whilst maintaining first class temperature regulation.
This manual explains how to install and use the fridge, and also contains
some important safety advice. Please read it carefully before using the
product.
Safety Instructions
In order to avoid electric shock, do not open the casing of the fridge. There
are no user serviceable parts inside and any problems should be reported to
your supplier.
Never obstruct the air vents.
DANGER - Risk of child entrapment - surplus refrigeration appliances are
dangerous, even if they “just sit in the garage for a few days.” Before you
throw away your old refrigeration appliance, please take off the door and
leave the shelves inside so that children may not easily climb inside.
Never allow children to operate, play with, or crawl inside the fridge.
Never clean the unit with flammable liquids, the fumes can create a fire
hazard or explosion.
Do not store or use gasoline or any other flammable vapours and liquids in
the vicinity of this unit or any other electrical appliance. The fumes can
create a fire hazard or explosion.
The unit is supplied fitted with a standard UK 13 amp plug, if the power cord
becomes damaged; have it replaced by a qualified electrician. Proper
earthing of the unit is essential for your safety. Any excess cord should be
secured behind the unit and not left exposed or dangling to prevent
accidental injury.
Installation
Before use, please carry out the following installation procedure:
Clean the interior of the unit with lukewarm water using a soft damp cloth.
The unit should be installed in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight, where
the ambient temperature is within the range 10 to 25ºC. If the ambient
temperature is outside of this range, the performance of the unit may be
affected.

www.caldura.co.uk DG30/DG40/PL22/PL30/PL40/05092013
Place the unit at least 5cm from any walls, on a level surface which is
capable of supporting the unit when fully loaded.
If the unit has been transported, tipped up, or disturbed in any other
significant way, it should be allowed to settle for at least two hours before
being connected to the mains.
Connect the unit to a standard 13 amp earthed electrical power outlet using
the power cord provided.
This unit is designed for permanent installation only; it is not a portable unit.
The unit should not be placed in an enclosed space (e.g. a cupboard) unless
our specific build-in instructions have been followed (available on request).
The service life of the unit may be significantly reduced if these installation
instructions are not adhered to.
Operation
One hour after applying power, the rear of the unit should become warm to
the touch, this indicates normal operation. The unit should reach the correct
operating temperature within approximately 3 hours.
Once correct operating temperature has been reached, you may begin to
load the fridge. Any unchilled items (cans, bottles etc.) should be introduced
gradually and not all at once so as to ensure that the refrigeration
temperature is not compromised for any significant length of time.
Auto Defrost
The unit features an Intelligent Automatic Defrost function which operates
once every 24 hours. The Defrost process is automatically optimized to suit
the loading of the fridge. You may notice a small temperature rise during the
Auto Defrost process; this is quite normal, and will not affect the contents of
the unit.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Condensation may collect inside the fridge under certain weather conditions
and this is quite normal. You should remove this with a dry cloth.
Before cleaning the unit, unplug it and remove all the contents and shelves.
Wash the inside with a warm water and baking soda solution. The solution
should be about 2 tablespoons of baking soda to a litre of water. The
outside of the unit should be cleaned with mild detergent and warm water.
If the fridge is not going to be used for a long period of time it should be
disconnected from the mains supply, cleaned, dried and the door should be
left open to prevent the build up of smells inside.

Adjusting the Temperature
The thermostat is factory set to 6, giving an internal temperature of
approximately 4°C (plus or minus 2°).
The temperature can be changed in 1.5 degree increments, the coldest
thermostat setting is 8 and the warmest is 1.
To ensure the most energy efficient operation, do not set the thermostat
colder than necessary. The unit must not be set to operate below 2°C.
Adjustment is carried out by tapping the interior light switch plunger located
at the top centre of the unit. The switch is very sensitive and it is
important that your finger comes off the plunger between each tap.
To adjust the thermostat, proceed as follows:
1. Turn off the unit at the mains socket.
2. Open the door.
3. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Turn on the unit.
You will hear 3 two-tone bleeps.
5. Tap the switch rapidly twice.
You will hear 3 bleeps - lo, hi, lo.
6. Tap the switch once.
You will hear a number of bleeps which is a count of the current
thermostat setting (default 6 - you will hear 6 bleeps).
7. To advance the thermostat by one (1.5° colder), tap the switch
once.
You will again hear a number of bleeps which will reflect the new
thermostat level.
You must wait until the bleeps have been heard in full before trying
to advance the thermostat once more.
8. Repeat step 7 as necessary until the desired setting is reached.
Once you move past setting 8, the thermostat will wrap back to 1
(warmest setting).
9. When you have set the thermostat as required, tap the switch
rapidly twice to save the new setting.
You will hear a single two-tone bleep and then 3 two-tone bleeps.
10. Close the door to return to normal operation.
If at any point you get lost in the process above, just go back to step 1.

Door Opened Indicator
A useful time saving feature specifically for hotels that charge for items
within the Minibar.
Housekeeping staff can quickly identify whether the door of the unit has
been previously opened so that they know whether they need to check and
restock the Minibar.
The internal light will pulsate for a brief period to indicate that the door has
been previously opened. To reset the indicator, rapidly tap the light switch
three times.
The default setting is off.
Door Closed Confirmation
A useful feature specifically for hotels that charge for items within the
Minibar.
When the door is closed a two-tone confirmation bleep lets the guest know
that the use of the minibar has been noticed.
The default setting is off.
Automatic Power Save
A useful cost saving feature specifically for hotels and guest houses.
If the door is not opened for the programmed number of consecutive days,
the thermostat is relaxed by 5 degrees in order to save running costs.
The default setting is off.
Automatic Standby
A useful cost saving feature specifically for hotels, guest houses and student
accommodation.
If the door is not opened for the programmed number of consecutive days,
the unit will go into Standby Mode (refrigeration is turned off) to save running
costs. Power consumption in this mode is reduced to under 0.5 watts in
compliance with EU Regulation 1275/2008.
The default setting is off.

Manual Standby
A useful cost saving feature specifically for hotels and guest houses.
When Minibars are built into furniture, it can be quite difficult to turn off the
power to them as the plug is often unreachable. With Manual Standby
enabled, the door of the unit can be left open and after 10 minutes, the unit
will go into Standby Mode (refrigeration is turned off). Power consumption in
this mode is reduced to under 0.5 watts in compliance with EU Regulation
1275/2008.
Once the door is closed, the unit will restart.
The default setting is off.
Open Door Alert
If the door is left open for more than one minute, the open door alert sounds
and the internal light will flash. The open door alert can be selected either as
a single tone, or a progressive alert which gets more and more attention
grabbing as the minutes go by to ensure the best possible chance that the
situation will be noticed.
The default setting is single tone.
Over Temperature Alert
If the internal temperature rises more than 5 degrees above the set
temperature, an alert tone will sound once per minute to inform the user that
there may either be a fault, or that the fridge has been overloaded with
unchilled items.
To temporarily silence the alert, turn off the power to the unit for 5 seconds
and then turn it on again.
The default setting is on.
