Donotplaceanextractorfanorcookerhoodinthesameroomasyourstove,thesedevicescanremoveairthatthestoverequirestofunctioncorrectly.

Oncewarm,yourchimneymakesthegasinsideitrise,pullingfreshairintothestovetomakeitwork.Yourchimneymust:
•Generateadraughtinuseofatleast12Pa(0.05inswg)andnotinexcessof25Pa.
•Becapableofwithstandingthetemperaturesgenerated.
•Beabsolutelyincapableofleakingfumesintothedwelling–thiswillcommonlybeachievedbyit:
•Beingatleast5mhigh.
•Terminatingatleast1maboveanyroofridge.
•Havinganinternalcrosssectionnotlessthan0.018m²(e.g.:150mmdia)andnevermorethan0.14m²(e.g.:375x375mm).
•Beingfreefromeventheslightestcrackorsourceofleakage.
•Havingnobendssharperthan45°.
•Beingentirelyfreeofobstructionsandsweptbyaqualifiedchimneysweep.
•Beingconnectedtoonlythisstove.
•Beingofthickmasonryorotherwiseadequatelyinsulated.

Operation
Thespecialistheatresistantpaintusedonyourstovewillcurethefirsttimethestoveisfiredup;thisprocesstakesaround45minutes.Duringthecuringprocessthe
paintmayemitvapourandproduceanodour,keeptheroomwellventilatedtoavoidanybuildupoffumes.Donottouchthesurfaceofthestoveduringthefirstfire
up.
Burnonlyseasonedtimberwithamoisturecontentoflessthan20%.ArecommendedsourceisCertainlyWoodKilnDriedLogs.Burningdampwoodcanleadtoa
reductioninefficiency,excessivefumesandabuildupoftaranddirtinsidethestovethatwillbeparticularlyevidentinthewindow.Amoisturemeterisavailable
fromyourretailer.
Yourstovewillbecomeveryhotduringoperation,useagloveorthetoolprovidedtoopenthedoorandadjustthetopairventcontrol.Alwaysopenthedoorslowly
toreducefumeemissionandpreventhotfuelfallingout.Thedoorshouldremainclosedoncethefireisestablishedandonlyopenedtorefuelandremoveresidue,in
ordertopreventfumespillage.
Thetopventonyourstovecanbeslidfromlefttorighttocontroltheamountofairthatisdrawnin;whenthevalveisslidfullytotherightitisopenandfullytothe
leftisclosed.
To light the fire use a firelighter and kindling, leave the door slightly open whilst fire establishes and then add larger logs (see diagram below for optimum
recommended size log). Close the door and keep the top air vent fully open. Once fire is fully established close down the air vent to control the burn rate, for
optimumperformanceitisrecommendedtokeepthetopventatleasthalfopen.

Abedofashinyourstovewillaidcombustionbutashlevelsshouldnotbeallowedtobuilduptomorethan10mm.Neverremovehotashfromyourstove,allowitto
cooldownandremoveexcessashwithasuitablebrushandpan.Hotashesshouldnotbedisposedofinplasticbinsorsacks.
Ifthereisinsufficientburningmaterialinthefirebedtolightanewfuelcharge,excessivesmokeemissioncanoccur.Refuellingmustbecarriedoutontoasufficient
quantityofglowingembersandashthatthenew fuel charge will igniteina reasonable period. Ifthereare too few embersinthefirebed,addsuitablekindlingto
preventexcessivesmoke.
Operationwiththeaircontrolsorappliancedampersopencancauseexcesssmoke.Theappliancemustnotbeoperatedwithaircontrols,appliancedampersordoor
leftopenexceptasdirectedintheinstructions.
Beawarethatweatherconditionssuchaswindandraincanaffecttheperformanceofthestove,theeffectscanvarydependingonyourchimney/fluebutasanexample
thefirewilloftenbesmokierandtakelongertoestablishondampandrainydays.Drawoflessthan12Pacanresultindifficultiesestablishingafire;drawofinexcessof
25Pacanleadtopoorfueleconomyandnoisecausedbyairbeingdrawnthroughthestovetoorapidly.
Ifyourstoveemitssmokeintotheroomcontinuouslyyoushouldimmediatelyventilatetheroomandclosethetopvalvecompletelyandallowthestovetogoout.Once
thisisdonecontactyourinstallerorstoveretailertoassessthesituation.Donotrelightthestoveuntiltheproblemhasbeenresolved.Followthesameprocedurein
theeventofanyothermalfunction(e.g.overheating).
Intheeventofachimneyfire(roaringsound+densesmokeandsparksfromthechimney)shutthetopairventandstovedoor,evacuatethepremisesandcallthefire
brigade.
Maintenance
Regularcleaningandmaintenancewillhelpprolongthelifeofmanyofthereplaceablecomponentsinyourstove.Beforecarryingoutanycleaningormaintenancetasks
ensurethatthestoveistotallycold.Thestoveinternalsshouldberemovedinthefollowingorder:
•Frontbar
•Basevermiculite(x2)
•Leftandrightsidevermiculite(holdtopvermiculiteinplacewhenremovingsidepieces)
•TopVermiculite
•Baffleplate
Thestovewindowismadefromahighqualitytransparentceramicandshouldremaincleanaslongasthecorrectdrylogsareburned.Ifanysootdoesbuildupitcan
often be wiped away using a sheet of newspaper, in the event of more severe stains use a proprietary stove glass cleaner to remove. Ensure that the window is
completelydrybeforelightingthestoveagain.
Checkonamonthlybasisthattheflueisclearandunblockedandthatthedoorsealsaresound.
Thetrimofyourstovecanbecleanedwhencoolwithaslightlydampcloth,iftouchuppaintingisrequiredspecialstovepaintisavailable.Neversprayanaerosolnear
thestovewhenitishot.
Itisrecommendedthatyouhaveyourchimneysweptonanannualbasis.
Beforealongperiodofnonuse,potentiallyduringthewarmermonths,emptyallfuelandashandleavethetopairventfullyopentoreducecondensation.
Your stove generates very high temperatures and eventually the internal components will require replacement, when the time comes use only parts provided or
recommendedbythemanufacturer.
Troubleshooting
Windowblackening:thiscanbecausedbyburningdamp,unseasonedwoodandalsobyrunningthestoveattoolowatemperature.Alwaysburndrylogsandopenup
thetopairventforapproximately20minutestoeliminatetheproblem.Insufficientdrawfromthefluecanalsocausewindowblackening,particularlyifthefluehastoo
muchdowndraft,istooshort,needsliningorhastoomanybends.Ifthisisthecaseitisbesttocontactafluespecialistforadvice.
PoorHeatOutput: Astovecanheata typicalroom ofabout12m²volumefor eachkWofoutput,so a5kWstovecanheat upto(12x5)63m²,aroomofabout 5m
square. The actual size depends on theinsulationand airchangerateof the room. Toattemptto heat a larger room willresultinexcessivefuelconsumptionand
damagingoverheating.
