The SRS6.5A active bi-amplified studio reference monitor is simply one of the best
near-field monitors on the market. The SRS6.5A & SRS6.5 accurately reproduces
multi-track recordings, surround mixes, mastering mixes, etc. with flat, pinpoint preci-
sion. The SRS6.5 incorporates built-in 100w RMS (70w low, 30w high) amplifiers
and an active crossover that delivers clean, transparent power without a hint of dis-
tortion or coloration. The 90-260V auto-switching power supply means no unwant-
ed hum and makes them compatible with any AC worldwide.
Drawing on new and time proven technologies, we carefully selected and matched
the shielded 6.5” woofer, Ferro fluid cooled high frequency driver and crossover
components. We then computer designed a perfectly tuned box that’s finished with
DuraTex™ which is virtually indestructible like our pro TCS line.
A Contour switch is featured to replicate your normal home stereo speaker system
(1.5dB low freq. boost, 1.5dB mid freq. cut) This is a very useful feature during mix-
down. The front ported design ensures that you can place the SRS monitors any-
where in the room without unwanted low frequency side affects, which is a problem
with rear ported enclosures.
RECEIVING INSPECTION
INSPECT YOUR SPEAKER FOR ANY DAMAGE which may have occurred during ship-
ping. If any damage is found, please notify the shipping company & CARVIN.
SAVETHECARTON&ALLPACKING MATERIALS. Intheeventyouhavetore-shipyour
unit, always use the original carton and packing material. This will provide the best pos-
sible protection during shipment. CARVIN and the shipping company are not liable for
any damage caused by improper packing.
SAVE YOUR INVOICE. It will be required for warranty service if needed in the future.
SHIPMENT SHORTAGE. If you find items missing, they may have been shipped sepa-
rately. Please allow several days for the rest of your order to arrive before inquiring.
RECORD THE SERIAL NUMBER on the enclosed warranty card or below on this man-
ual for your records. Keep your portion of the card and return the portion with your
name and comments to us.
CONNECTING THE SRS6.5 AND THE SRS6.5A
Connecting to the SRS6.5 is via positive and negative gold plated binding posts
located on the rear jackplate. Carvin recommends no less then 16 Ga. wire be used
to ensure proper signal transfer. Carvin’s standard cable for hookup is the PH series
cable used in with the AD42 speaker cable adapter. Connect the
SRS6.5A powered monitors directly to your mixer or
source device's output with a balanced XLR cable.
Connect the AC power cord to a standard 120v or 230v
power receptacle.
PRECAUTIONS
1) DO NOT EXCEED THE POWER RATING ON THE SRS6.5 marked on the rear con-
nect plate. Excessive power will destroy drivers. 2) Do not connect the SRS6.5A to
a power amplifier. The SRS6.5A contains a built-in power amp. 3) DISTORTION
from power amps will destroy drivers much faster than clean power. 4)WATER, MOIS-
TURE, and DUST are harmful to drivers causing failure which is not covered under warranty.
WARRANTY
CARVIN loudspeakers are covered by a ONE year limited warranty unless otherwise
stated. Warranty coverage is limited to original manufactures defects only. WAR-
RANTY DOES NOT COVER: 1) Opened or burned voice coils. 2) Torn cones caused by
improper packing or abuse. 3) Damage from rain, moisture, ETC. We can repair your
monitor(s) if you return them pre-paid by UPS. Include your address and description
of the problem. Your monitor(s) will be returned COD for the cost of shipping and
reconditioning ifnot covered under warranty.

The woofers should be in vertical alignment with ears, 2-3 feet away from you and
the speakers should have a distance apart from one another by 3 feet.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
The SRS6.5A features a -12dB input attenuation switch for use with hotter inputs. It
also features thermal and overload protection circuit that shuts the unit down for
approx. 500 msec. before attempting to power on again. If an overload problem is still
present after the unit has cycled power, it will return to protect mode and the cycle will
continue until the problem has been fixed or the unit is manually powered down. If your
speaker starts this protect cycle, simply reduce your input level to the unit. This should
cure an over current condition. If the speaker continues the protect cycle after reducing
the input level, the unit is probably in thermal protect cycle. Turn the power off and wait
approximately 5 minutes for it to cool down before powering up. For optimal cooling
be sure that nothing is blocking the rear vents.
