You will need this manual for the safety warnings and precautions, operating,
inspection, maintenance and cleaning procedures, parts list and assembly
diagram. Keep your invoice with this manual. Write the invoice number on the
inside of the front cover. Keep this manual and invoice in a safe and dry place for
future reference.

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure all the parts shown on the Parts List on page 11
are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the
number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Use the Snow Thrower only in areas free of de-
bris.
2. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM WORK AREA. Do not allow children to handle
this product.
3. STORE IDLE EQUIPMENT. When not in use, tools and equipment should be
stored in a dry location to inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and equipment,
and keep out of reach of children.

5. USE EYE, HEARING, HAND PROTECTION. Wear ANSI approved safety impact
eye goggles, hearing protection, and safety gloves when using this product.
ANSI approved safety impact eye goggles, hearing protection, and safety gloves
are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
6. DRESS SAFELY. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, as they can become
caught in moving parts. Wear a protective hair covering to prevent long hair from
becoming caught in moving parts.
7. DO NOT OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times to prevent
tripping, falling, back injury, etcetera.
8. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS MUST FOLLOW OSHA REQUIREMENTS.
9. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing at all times. Use common sense. Do
not use this product when you are tired or distracted from the job at hand.
10. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this product, carefully check that
it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for damaged
parts and any other conditions that may affect the operation of this product.
Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
11. REPLACEMENT PARTS AND ACCESSORIES: When servicing, use only
identical replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this
product. Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
12. MAINTAIN THIS PRODUCT WITH CARE. Keep this product clean and dry
during storage for better and safer performance. For your safety, service and
maintenance should be performed regularly by a qualified technician.
13. USE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOB. Do not attempt to force small
equipment to do the work of a larger industrial tool. There are certain applica-
tions for which this equipment was designed. It will do the job better and more
safely at the rate for which it was intended. Do not modify this equipment, and
do not use this equipment for a purpose for which it was not intended.
14. WARNING! The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. The operator
must understand that common sense and caution are factors, which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

4. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF UNDERTHE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR
DRUGS. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgement or
reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not attempt to
use this product.

SPECIFIC PRODUCTWARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. WARNING! Before using the Snow Thrower, read and understand the Engine
manufacturer’s Operation,Maintenance,and Parts manual. Alsoread thesafety
precautions in this manual which should always be followed to reduce the risk of
personal injury and damage to equipment.
2. DO NOT USE THE SNOW THROWER ON STEEP INCLINES. Use the Snow
Thrower only on level ground surfaces.
3. THOROUGHLY INSPECTTHE AREA WHERETHE SNOW THROWER IS TO BE
USED AND REMOVE ALL DOOR MATS,SLEDS,BOARDS,WIRES,AND OTHER
FOREIGN OBJECTS.
4. NEVER DIRECT DISCHARGE AT BYSTANDERS OR WINDOWS OR ALLOW
ANYONE IN FRONT OF THE SNOW THROWER.
5. KEEP CLEAR OF THE AUGERS WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.
6. ALWAYS SHUT OFFTHE ENGINE AND REMOVETHE KEY BEFORE UNCLOG-
GING THE DISCHARGE CHUTE.
7. STOP THE ENGINE AND REMOVE THE KEY BEFORE REMOVING DEBRIS
AND SERVICING THE SNOW THROWER.
8. GASOLINE FUEL AND FUMES ARE FLAMMABLE, AND POTENTIALLY EX-
PLOSIVE. Use proper fuel storage and handling procedures. Always have mul-
tiple ABC class fire extinguishers nearby.
9. WHEN SPILLS OF FUEL OR OIL OCCUR, THEY MUST BE CLEANED UP IM-
MEDIATELY. Dispose of fluids as per any local, state, or federal codes and regula-
tions. Store oil rags in a covered metal container.
10 NEVER STORE FUEL OR OTHER FLAMMABLE MATERIALS NEARTHE SNOW
THROWER.
11. DO NOT SMOKE, OR ALLOW SPARKS, FLAMES, OR OTHER SOURCES OF
IGNITION AROUNDTHE ENGINE AND FUELTANK.
12. DO NOT OPERATETHE SNOWTHROWERWITH KNOWN LEAKS INTHE FUEL
SYSTEM.
13. EXCESSIVE BUILDUP OF UNBURNED FUEL GASES INTHE EXHAUST SYS-
TEM CAN CREATE A POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE CONDITION. This buildup
can occur after repeated failed start attempts, valve testing, or hot engine

shutdown. If this occurs, allow the gases to dissipate before attempting to restart
the Engine.
14. USE ONLY MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDED FUEL AND OIL. Before each
use, check to make sure the Engine is adequately filled with oil. Running the
Engine with low or no oil will damage the Engine and void its warranty.
15. AVOID CONTACT WITH HOT FUEL, OIL, EXHAUST FUMES, AND SOLID
SURFACES ONTHE ENGINE. Do not refill the Fuel Tank while the Engine is
running.
16. AVOID CONTACT WITH FUELS, OIL, AND LUBRICANTS USED IN THE EN-
GINE. If swallowed, seek medical treatment immediately. Do not induce vomit-
ing if fuel is swallowed. For skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water.
For eye contact, immediately flush eyes with clean water.
17. USETHE SNOWTHROWER ONLY IN OUTDOOR AREAS. Inhalation of carbon
monoxide fumes may result in poisoning, injury and/or death.
18. NEVER OVER INFLATE THE TIRES. Always maintain the Tire air pressure at
the manufacturer’s recommended 20 PSI per Tire.
19. BEFORE CARRYING OUT MAINTENANCE,TURN OFFTHE ENGINE:
Remove the Key, disconnect the Engine’s spark plug cable from the spark plug,
and allow the Engine to cool completely before working on the Snow Thrower.
20. THE SNOW THROWER IS DESIGNED WITH GUARDS FOR PROTECTION
FROM MOVING PARTS. In any case, care must still be taken to protect person-
nel and equipment from other mechanical hazards when working around the
Snow Thrower.
21. MAINTAIN LABELS AND NAMEPLATES ON THIS PRODUCT. These carry
important information. If unreadable or missing, contact Harbor Freight Tools for
a replacement.
22. WARNING! People with pacemakers should consult their physician(s) before
using this product. Operation of equipment using or producing electricity in close
proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of the pace-
maker.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For additional references to the parts listed in the following pages, refer to the
Assembly Diagram on page 12 and the Engine manufacturer’s manual.
Pre-Start Checks:
1. NOTE: During operation, it may be necessary to refer to the Engine
manufacturer’s Operation, Maintenance, and Parts manual (included) for detailed
information regarding the Engine.
2. Check to make sure the Engine’s “ON/OFF” Switch is in its “OFF” position and
the Key is removed. (See Engine manufacturer’s manual.)
3. Unscrew and remove the Engine’s Oil Fill Cap located at the top of the Engine
Crankcase. Check the gauge on the Oil Fill Cap to make sure the Engine’s oil
level is full. If necessary, add oil until its level reaches the “Full” line on the Oil Fill
Cap. Then, screw the Oil Fill Cap back onto the Oil Fill Hole. NOTE: Check with
the Engine manufacturer’s manual for the proper type of engine oil required for
use. (See Figure A, this page.)
4. Unscrew and remove the Fuel Tank Cap and the amount of unleaded gasoline in
the Fuel Tank. If necessary, refill the Fuel Tank with unleaded gasoline. Then,
replace the Fuel Tank Cap. (See Figure A.)

5. Move the Shift Handle (87) to its NEUTRAL position. (See Figure B.)

7. Move the Snow Thrower to the area that is to be cleared of snow.
CAUTION! Make sure the area that is to be cleared is flat, level, and free of
debris and other foreign materials. Do not attempt to use the Snow Thrower on
steep inclines.

8. The Upper Chute (115) may be moved horizontally about 30 degrees to the right
and 30 degrees to the left. Turn the Chute Crank (76) to position the Chute and
eject the snow in the desired direction. (See Figures B, and D.)
11. Start the Engine as per the Engine manufacturer’s instructions.
12. The Auger Control allows the Right Auger (4) and Left Auger (23) to rotate and
collect the snow. To engage the Augers, depress the Auger Control.
(See Figure C, and D.)
13. The Traction Control allows the Snow Thrower to move in a forward or
reverse direction, depending on which gear the Shift Handle (87) is positioned.
Move the Shift Handle from NEUTRAL to FORWARD SPEED 1, 2, 3, or 4
(1being the slowest forward speed - 4being the fastest forward speed).
Or move the Shift Handle from NEUTRAL to REVERSE R1 or REVERSE R2
(R1 being the slowest reverse speed - R2 being the fastest reverse speed).
Then to start the Snow Thrower moving, depress the Traction Control.
(See Figure E, next page.)
14. NOTE: Positioning the Handle Slipper (85) to the left will require one hand to
operate the Auger Control and the other hand to operate the Traction Control.
Positioning the Handle Slipper to the right allows you to operate the Auger

9. The height (from the ground surface) at which the Right Auger (4) and Left Auger
(23) shaves the snow may be changed by adjusting the Support Plate (29)
located on the lower left and lower right sides of the Housing (31).

10. For straight axle drive action (two-wheel drive), place the Round Spring Pin (63)
through the Wheel and the Axle . For differential drive action (one-wheel drive),
place the Round Spring Pin (63) through the Axle only .

15. IMPORTANT: When moving the Snow Thrower in a for-
ward
direction, always release the Traction Control before
changing from one gear speed to another. The same ap-
plies when moving the Snow Thrower in a
reverse direc-
tion. (See Figures C, and E.)
16. IMPORTANT: Always release the Traction Control, place
the Shift Handle (87) in the NEUTRAL position, and allow
the Snow Thrower to come to a complete stop before
changing from a
forward to reverse gear or reverse to for-
ward
gear. (See Figures C, and E.)
17. WARNING! Always keepclear of the Right and Left Augers
(4, 23) while the Engine is running. Shut off the Engine and
remove the Key before unclogging the Upper Chute (115).
Stop the Engine and remove the Key before removing
debris and servicing the Snow Thrower. (See Figure D.)

18. When finished using the Snow Thrower, release the Traction and Auger Controls
and place the Shift Handle (87) in the NEUTRAL position.Allow the SnowThrower
to come to a complete stop, stop the engine and remove the key. Then, store the
Snow Thrower in a safe, dry location.

INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
1. CAUTION! Before performing any inspection, maintenance, or cleaning always
turn off the Engine and remove the Key. Allow sufficient time for the Engine to
completely cool. Then, disconnect the Engine’s Spark Plug Wire from the Spark
Plug.
2. NOTE: Preventative maintenance procedures and frequency will vary depending
on the amount of Snow Thrower use. Refer to the
Engine manufacturer’s Opera-
tion, Maintenance, and Parts manual (included) for detailed information regard-
ing maintenance of the Engine.
3. BEFORE EACH USE: Inspect the general condition of the Snow Thrower.
Check for loose screws, misalignment or binding of moving parts, cracked or
broken parts, damaged Augers, and any other condition that may affect its safe
operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, have the problem corrected
before further use. Do not use damaged equipment.
4. BEFORE EACH USE: Check to make sure the Engine’s oil level is adequate.
Refer to the Engine manufacturer’s Operation, Maintenance, and Parts Manual
(included) for specific information.
5. TO CHANGE THE V-BELTS: If necessary, the V-Belts (96, 97) may be replaced
by removing the Small Bottom Plate (47) and Bracket Cap (110) to gain access.
Once the V-Belts are replaced, make sure to reattach the Small Bottom Plate and
Bracket Cap to the unit.
6. TO CLEAN: With a garden hose, remove all debris from the Snow Thrower. Then,
use a premium quality, lightweight machine oil to lubricate all moving parts.
