5. Integrita Control Center: First Steps
The Integrita Control Center offers you a quick overview of the status of your Integrita music server.
You can see at a glance how much disk space you are using and how much is still available. You can
also check if all hard disk drives are fault free. Furthermore you can easily create network shares
and grant permissions (read/write) for users. Provided with the necessary administrative rights you
can also generate and delete user accounts. And you can also have a look at the system log file, if
you are curious.
5.1 Working with the Integrita Control Center
Before you start to configure the Integrita music server please wait until the IP-address is reported
by display. Using the Bonjour protocol (Apple Mac OS X Computers) you can easily get access to
the Integrita Control Center.
Other computers (Apple Mac systems earlier than OS X, Windows etc.) require the IP-address, as
shown in the display, to be typed into the address bar of your internet browser as follows:
•In the example the IP-address shown in the display is 192.168.0.178.
An encrypted website will automatically open. Please acknowledge the safety certificate of the
website. The process of acknowledging the safety certificate can differ between web browsers

5.4 Call up Status Information
On the left hand side in your Integrita Control Center you find all the necessary information to
check the status of the Integrita music server.
At the bottom left, you can see whether a hard disk drive has failed or if your data is still secure. If
the system reliability shows 2, your data is perfectly safe. If system security shows 1, a hard disk
drive has failed. (Your data is still safe and complete, but you should replace the failed hard drive
disk with a new one as soon as possible). If system security shows 0, then 2 hard drive disks have
failed. (Your data is still complete, but you should immediately replace the failed hard drive disk
with a new one).
,Service Jobs’: By clicking on the arrow icon on the right side you can see currently active services,
e.g. integration of a new hard disk drive, and you will see how far the process has proceeded.
‚Disk usage’ shows you, how much free disk space is left on your Integrita music server
By clicking „harddisks“ a new window appears, showing the status of the different hard disks: Size,
temperature and usage.

Page 13www.certon.de
The green signal shows you that the hard disk working normally. An orange signal indicates that a
problem has occurred. A red signal means the hard disk drive has failed.

password or delete users.
To generate a new user click “add”. Enter the user name and the password (twice). Confirm by
clicking OK.
To delete a user, choose from the list and click “Delete”.
5.5.1 Change Password
The user „admin“ can reset a user password at any time by simply selecting a user and clicking on
„Edit“. It’s impossible to tell a user his old password, because the passwords are stored in an
encrypted form for safety reasons.
Please keep in mind that user names may not contain uppercase letters. A user name
containing uppercase letters will not be created!. Please avoid using capital letters and special
characters by using only the 26 lower case letters and the numbers
i

Page 14www.certon.de
5.5.2 Change Password by User
A user who is not the administrator can login at the Control Center using a web browser and
change his password. No other features are available to him.
5.6 Manage Folders
To serve the disk space of your Integrita music server in the network environment, the network
folders have to be shared to the network (These network folders must be generated first). At the
same time you can define which user should be able to access the folders and define his read/write
permissions. Please click at ”Folder administration”.
This picture shows folders in the Control Center. You can save your data in the folder named
‘Media, but of course you can rename it at any time.
5.6.1 Create Folders
•To share a new folder to the network, choose “Folder Administration” and click on Add. Name
the new folder that you want to share. The name of the folder should point to the content.
•If you only want selected users to have access to this folder, click Restrict Access.
•Depending on the operating system of the workstation (Mac, Windows, Linux) there are
characters, which cannot be used for naming a folder because they are reserved for the
operating system. It’s best to only use characters of the Roman alphabet.
•Other characters outside the Latin alphabet, such as a hyphen ("-"), slash-sign ("/"), colon (:) or
any numbers are not permitted because this could interfere with the correct interpretation of
the marking. This way you ensure that you can access the folders without problems, but also
other computers in your network, which might use a different operating system.

Page 15www.certon.de
•You should avoid folder names that only differ in capital letters and lower case letters.
A folder that contains music can be named e. g. MyMusic.
i

Page 16www.certon.de
•By clicking on „Users“ you can select the users who should get read/write permission or only
read permission for the folder. Next choose „Restrict access“ to give the user permissions by
check mark.
•Now select the user who should get read- and/or write permissions for the new folder, and press
“User” again. If there is no user generated at this time, first generate a user (see 6.5) and after
this define the read and/or write permissions in this menu item.
•When you generated the folder and defined the read- and write permissions choose “Apply”.
•You’ll see the following message:
•Make sure, that no one is using the system at this time. Acknowledge by clicking into the
checkbox and choose “OK”.
•The folder is available in the network now and users can access from their computer via
network.
To visualize the availability in the network all connections in the network have to be
interrupted temporarily. Ensure that nobody accesses the Integrita music server and select the
checkbox. Then click “OK”.
i

Page 17www.certon.de
5.7 Settings
•The menu “Settings” allows you to further adapt the Integrita music server to your individual
needs.
5.8 Language
•In the Integrita Control Center you can the language of the Control Center to German, English,
Russian or French by clicking on “Language”. Confirm your selection with “OK”.
5.9 Date and Time Settings
•By default your Integrita music server will automatically update the system time via internet. If
you want to set date and time manually, deactivate the checkbox. Click OK to confirm your
settings.
5.10 Network Configuration
•Here you can change your network settings. You can set the few necessary parameters yourself,
or ask your PC-, system or network administrator.
•If a DHCP-Server is available on your network (most DSL- or WLAN-routers offer an integrated
The Integrita music server is now accessible at the IP-address given by the DHCP-server. Turn
button at the display to “network” and then to “info” You’ll see the IP-address in the display,

Page 18www.certon.de
DHCP-Server, which automatically shares the information over the network), so choose Method:
“automatic”. Then click on “Save and Apply”.
•In case you don’t have a DHCP-Server installed or disabled the function, please check the system
settings of your computer to find out, which network address is used. Using for example Mac OS
X, you find the network address (IP-address) by clicking in the Apple menu on “about this MAC”.
Click on “more/further information”, the System Profiler will open. In this information window
click on the headline „network“ in the left column. You can find the network address on the
right side next to the Network entry. On a Windows PC you find the network address using the
command prompt (DOS-Shell or DOS-Box): Type „ipconfig“ and press „return“. Those IP-
Addresses generally all follow the same pattern, i.e. 192.168.1.10. The router address usually is
192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1.
•If there is no DHCP server available, you manually have to enter the one address in your
Integrita music server Control Center that corresponds with the one you found on your PC that
matches the first three digit groups. Only the fourth digit group must differ, because every
device in your network has to have a unique address. So, if your PC or Mac has a 192.168.1.1
address, then assign a 192.168.1.xxx address to your Integrita music server, replacing the xxx
with a number between 2 and 254. You can’t choose 1 in this example, because it’s already
assigned to your PC/Mac.
•Should you assign the network address manually, please keep in mind that other network
devices (other PCs, Macs, Notebooks, network printers etc.) already have a network address and
for the Integrita music server you have to choose one that’s new and not yet assigned.
5.11 Notifications
•Under ”Notifications” you can define that you will be informed automatically via e-mail, if there
are issues with your Integrita music server (hard disk drive failure, overheating, the completion
of the RAID-rebuilding). By clicking on “Notifications” under settings the following window
appears:

Page 19www.certon.de
•Click on the button “Add” to add a new notification e-mail address.
•Now enter the user name and the e-mail-address of the person you want to notify in case of a
malfunction. Of course you can register multiple users. After confirming with OK you’ll see the
following:
•Now check your inbox. You'll receive an automated confirmation mail with your activation-
code. With this you can change the status from ‘unconfirmed’ to ‘confirmed’ by clicking on the
appropriate name, select „Activate” and enter the code you just received via e-mail in the new
window. You’ll see that the status „unconfirmed“ disappears and from now on you’ll be notified
in case of a malfunction.
•By selecting a name and clicking on „delete“ you can delete the e-mail notification.
5.12 Media Interface
•Here you can activate iTunes and DLNA. For further information please refer to the related
chapters in this manual.
5.13 DLNA
•DLNA is short for Digital Living Network Alliance. This Digital Living Network Alliance is a
cooperation of different enterprises with the objective to standardize the interfaces of devices
of multiple manufactures. DLNA allows you to play media data, for example audio or video files
on different devices. For example you can play a video that is stored on a DLNA-compatible
device on a DLNA-compatible TV. To activate DLNA enter the IP address of your Integrita music
server in a browser via the Control Center.
•Log in with your user name „admin“ und and password „admin”, then click “settings”, then
choose „Media Interface“ and set the check box „activate DLNA “.
•Finally select a media drive that can be accessed via DLNA. All files and media in this folder can
now be accessed via DLNA.

Page 20www.certon.de
5.14 Twonky MediaServer
•Twonky MediaServer is a multimedia software to provide your Integrita music server to a
multimedia server with uPNP functionality.
•Every device in your network that’s DLNA or uPNP ready can access the media data and display
them.
•TwonkyMedia not only shares audio and video files, it also works as an internet radio server. The
software independently checks the radio stations and the updates the list at every reboot.
•The server also shares photo albums in the network.
•For further information you can download the Twonky MediaServer manual on our support
page.
On delivery, DLNA is activated on your integrita music server. The DLNA server is „Twonky“.
Twonky automatically indexes all multimedia files in your folder „Music“ or “Media”.
