furnishedwithouttumblers,springsorspringretainers,
thesepartsareservicedseparately.Thetumblerscome
infivedifferentdepths,indicatedbynumbers.
Thesidebarlockshavesixtumblerpositions,andin
lookingupthecuttingcode,thefollowingmaybeusedas
anexample.Afterkeycodenumberisdetermined,either
fromkeyorfromnumberstampedonlockcylinderrefer
toyourcodebookandrecordthekeycuttinginformation
asfollows:

Afteralltumblersareinplace,checkforcorrect-
nesswiththecode.Thenpresstumblersdownwith
onefinger.

Insertonetumblerspringinthespaceprovided
aboveeachtumbler.
CAUTION:Ifthespringsaretangled,donot
pullthemapart—unscrewthem.
4.
Reversethelockcylindersothattheheadofthe
cylinderisnowtowardyou.Insertthespringre-
tainersothatoneofitssixprongsentersintoeach
ofthespringsandthetwolargeendprongsslideinto
theslotsateitherendofthecylinder.Pressthe
retainerdownwithonefinger.
5.Tocheck,insertproperkeyandiftumblersarein-
stalledproperlythesidebarwillbeallowedtodrop
down.Ifbardoesnotdropdown,removethekey,
springretainer,springsandtumblersandreas-
semblecorrectly.
NOTE:
Ifthetumblershavenotbeenassembled
correctlyandnotaccordingtothecode,the
tumblerscanberemovedfromthecylinderby
holdingitwiththetumblerslotsdown,pulling
thesidebaroutwiththefingersandjarringthe
cylindertoshakethetumblersout.Thispro-
cedureisnecessarybecauseafterthetumblers
havebeenpresseddownintothecylinderthey
areheldintheirslotsbythecrossbar.
6.Ifaftercheckingitisfoundthatthelockisas-
sembledproperly,removekeyandplacecylinderin
