The Colorado ZR2 has a variety of features that offer added functionality and
performance on varying types of terrain.

TRANSFER CASE/FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE
Press the desired icon on the Driver Mode Control on the center console to shift the
transfer case. The four-wheel-drive status is displayed on the Driver Information Center.
AUTO Automatic Four-Wheel Drive –
Use when traction conditions
vary. The front axle is engaged
and power is sent to the front and
rear wheels automatically based
on driving conditions.
Two-Wheel Drive High – Use for
most streets and highways. The
front axle is not engaged.
Four-Wheel Drive High – Use
when extra traction is needed,
such as when driving on snowy or icy roads, or when off-roading. Not intended for
dry pavement.
Four-Wheel Drive Low – Use when driving off-road in deep sand, mud or snow, or
on steep hills. Not intended for dry pavement. Vehicle speed should be kept below
45 mph. Traction Control and StabiliTrak are turned off.
N Neutral – Use when towing the vehicle. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for the shift
procedure.
SHIFTING THE TRANSFER CASE
To shift into or out of 4-wheel drive,
press an icon (2 HI, AUTO, 4 HI, 4 LO)
on the Driver Mode Control. The
related 4x4 graphic will flash on the
Driver Information Center while the
shift is in progress and stops flash-
ing when the shift is complete.
Shift between 2 HI, 4 HI and AUTO at
normal driving speeds.
Shift into or out of 4 LO with the
vehicle moving less than 3 mph and the transmission in Neutral.
If a shift cannot be completed, the transfer case returns to the last chosen setting.
The current 4-wheel-drive status is displayed on the Driver Information Center.

DRIVER MODE CONTROL
LAUNCH CONTROL
The Drive Modes modify the overall driv-
ing experience. Each mode automatically
adjusts various vehicle settings, includ-
ing the antilock brakes, traction control
and stability control calibrations, based
on driving preferences, weather and
road conditions. Throttle progression
and transmission shifts also are altered.
Available modes are displayed on the
infotainment screen.
Rotate the Driver Mode Control on the center console to select a mode.
Normal – Use for everyday driving.
Off-Road – Use for enhanced control during off-road driving at moderate speeds.
Do not use when driving on pavement.
Tow/Haul – Use when towing or hauling heavy loads in stop-and-go traffic or
through rolling terrain.
Terrain – Use for enhanced control in low-speed off-road conditions in 4 HI or
4 LO. Do not use when driving on pavement. One-Pedal Driving is enabled, which auto-
matically brakes the vehicle when the accelerator pedal position is decreased.
Baja – Use for enhanced control during off-road driving at higher speeds. Do
not use when driving on pavement. In Baja mode, Dynamic Performance Mode (DPM)
may delay a transmission shift for greater engine braking and enhanced control. The
DPM icon is displayed when active.
Launch Control, available in Baja mode, is a form of traction control that manages wheel
spin while launching the vehicle to help achieve high levels of acceleration. It is calibrat-
ed for three distinct road surfaces: pavement, dirt and snow/ice.
To activate Launch Control, stop the vehicle, point the wheels straight ahead, and
select Baja mode. Next, press the brake pedal very firmly to the floor, and then rapidly
press the accelerator pedal to wide-open throttle. Once the StabiliTrak Electronic
Stability Control symbol begins flashing on the instrument cluster, release the brake
pedal while fully pressing the accelerator pedal.
The system initially limits engine speed and manages wheel slip based on the road
surface. It adjusts accordingly for the next launch or if the road surface changes.

LOCKING REAR AXLE
Lock the rear axle to gain additional
traction from the rear wheels when
driving in off-road conditions, on steep
hills and on uneven terrain.
With the vehicle moving less than
20mph, press the Locking Rear
Axle switch (A) to lock or unlock the
rear axle.
The rear axle is locked when the
indicator light stops flashing and
remains illuminated.
Note: The locking rear axle will disengage when vehicle speed exceeds 20 mph unless Off-Road, Terrain
or Baja mode is active.
LOCKING FRONT AXLE
Lock the front axle to gain additional traction from the front wheels when driving at low
speed in off-road conditions.
1. With the vehicle stopped or moving less than 3 mph and the transmission in Neutral,
shift into 4WD LO. Shift the transmission into gear when the 4 LO graphic on the
Driver Information Center stops flashing.
2. With the vehicle moving less than 20 mph, press the Locking Front/Rear Axles
switch (B) to lock the front and rear axles.
To unlock the front axle, press the Locking Rear Axle switch (the front axle
unlocks and the rear axle remains locked), and then press the Locking Front/Rear
Axles switch (both axles unlock).
The front axle is locked when the indicator light stops flashing and remains illuminated.
Locking the front axle also disables Hill Descent Control and the Antilock Brake System,
which will cause the warning light to illuminate.
Note: The locking front axle will disengage when vehicle speed exceeds 20 mph or the transfer case is
shifted out of 4WD LO. Do not drive the vehicle on pavement with the front or rear axle locked. Do not
try to lock the front or rear axle while the vehicle is stuck and the tires are spinning. This may damage
the vehicle.

With the electronic locking front and rear axles and automatic transfer case, nine drive
configurations are available:

HILL DESCENT CONTROL
TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRAK SYSTEMS
Hill Descent Control sets and maintains vehicle speed when descending a very steep hill.
It can maintain vehicle speeds from 1–19 mph on an incline greater than or equal to a 10%
grade (or an incline of 6 degrees).
To turn the system on or off, go to
Controls > Drive & Park > Hill Descent
Control on the infotainment screen.
Vehicle speed must be below 37 mph
to enable the system. The symbol
will illuminate on the Driver
Information Center.
Increase or decrease speed by
applying the accelerator or pressing
the Cruise Control +/– buttons. The
adjusted speed becomes the new set
speed.
The symbol flashes when the system is actively applying the brakes to maintain
vehiclespeed.
Hill Descent Control will remain enabled between 19 and 37 mph, but vehicle speed
cannot be set or maintained in this range. It will automatically disable if the vehicle speed
is above 50 mph or above 37 mph for 30 seconds.

The Traction Control system lim-
its wheelspin and the StabiliTrak
Electronic Stability Control (ESC) sys-
tem assists with directional control of
the vehicle in difficult driving condi-
tions. Both systems turn on automati-
cally when the vehicle is started. The
Traction Control and StabiliTrak cali-
brations are altered while in Off-Road,
Terrain or Baja mode.
To turn Traction Control or
StabiliTrak on or off, go to Controls >
Drive & Park > Traction Control on the infotainment screen.
Note: StabiliTrak will turn on automatically if the vehicle exceeds 35 mph unless Off-Road, Terrain or
Baja mode isenabled and active.

OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCE DISPLAY
The Off-Road Performance Display on the infotainment screen provides information to
help monitor the motion and status of the vehicle in off-road environments.
Select the Off-Road icon on the
infotainment screen to display real-
time, off-road performance data.
• Baja – Displays G-force with
maximum values, steering angle
and transfer case status.
• Terrain – Displays pitch and roll
with maximum values and tire
pressure.
• Overlanding – Displays an altim-
eter and compass.
To reset the maximum values achieved for some collected data, select the value and
then select the Reset icon.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
The vehicle’s tire pressure specifications are listed on the Tire and Loading Information
label, located below the driver’s door latch. Current tire pressures can be viewed by
selecting Vehicle Info > Tires & Brakes on the infotainment screen.
With the ignition On or in Accessory Mode, the Tire Fill Alert will provide visual and
audible alerts when inflating a tire. When the recommended pressure is reached, the
horn sounds and the turn signals change from flashing to solid.
AIR DOWN MODE
Air Down Mode enables custom tire
pressures to be set for off-road driving.
1. With the ignition On or in Service Mode,
select the Air Down Mode icon on the
infotainment screen.
2. Select the target tire pressure and then
press Start.
3. A t the tire, press and hold the tire valve
stem to release air pressure. The horn sounds and the turn signal changes from flash-
ing to solid when the target pressure is reached.
4. Wait for the turn signal lamp to turn off before deflating the next tire.
After the tires have been deflated, the Low Tire Pressure warning light may
illuminate. Inflate all tires to the recommended pressure after off-road use.

OFF-ROAD DRIVING BASICS
Driving on Hills – Before driving on a hill, assess the steepness, traction and obstruc-
tions. Turn on the headlamps to make the vehicle more visible in all conditions. When
driving, use a low gear and maintain a slow speed. When possible, drive straight up or
down the hill. Slow down when approaching the top of the hill.
Driving in Mud, Sand or Snow – Use a low gear when driving in mud. Keep the vehicle
moving to avoid getting stuck. On loose sand, traction changes can occur and the tires
may sink into the sand, affecting steering, acceleration and braking. Drive at a reduced
speed and avoid abrupt maneuvers. On hard-packed snow and ice, traction is reduced
and vehicle speed should be lowered accordingly.
Driving Through Water – If the standing water is not too deep, drive slowly through it.
At faster speeds, splashing water may cause the vehicle to stall. After driving through
water, the brakes will be wet and it may take longer to stop.
AFTER OFF-ROAD DRIVING
Remove any debris that has collected on the underbody or chassis. After operating in
mud or sand, check and clean the brake linings. Also, check under the vehicle and the
wheels/tires for any damage.

HD SURROUND VISION
Multiple cameras display a high-resolution
image of the area around the vehicle on the
infotainment screen. Camera view buttons
are on the bottom of the screen.
To display the camera views, select the
Camera icon on the infotainment screen.
UNDERBODY CAMERASF
The available underbody cameras show the
areas underneath the front and rear bumpers.
To display the underbody camera views, select the Camera icon and then the front or
rear underbody view.
To wash an underbody camera, select the front or rear camera and touch the
Washer symbol.
