Operating determination
The SRWpower LE is designed for professional use only.
Therefore the operating personnel necessarily has to be familiar with the operation of the
equipment attached to this device.
This device is intended to be attached to a battery plate as a mechanical and electrical
replacement for a battery. Please check the maximum payload of the specific battery
plate to prevent mechanical overload.
Depending on the manufacturer, battery plates, even amongst one standard, are designed
differently in terms of mechanical rigidity. Please insure that the maximum load does not
override this limit. It is a good advice to handle the unit carefully when attached to a device.
The SRWpower LE is intended to be used in a dry and clean environment.
All parts of the SRWpower are made of resistant materials. There are no moving parts inside
the unit. Even though, you should avoid exposure to water, salt, sand, dust and excessive
heat to prevent corrosion and to avoid malfunction. If your SRWpower LE was exposed to
condensing humidity or spill water, please dry it up with a dry cloth and store it in a dry warm
room. Before operating the unit, please allow the remaining water to vaporize. Even though,
you should avoid excessive heat.
Do not use detergent to clean your system!
The SRWpower LE is intended as a power supply for cinematographic recording
equipment only (video tape recorders, harddisk recorders).
Please ask the manufacturer for compatibility with other equipment.
Installation and operation
Unpack the parts from the transport packaging. Double-check if everything was delivered
according to your order.
Your SRWpower LE will come ready-to-attach-to-your-system as ordered.
Please make sure that the battery plate of the unit the SRWpower LE is intended to
attached is in a perfect electrical and mechanical condition.
Corroded or bent contacts will increase power loss over the contacts and may destroy your
unit.
Before connecting the SRWpower LE to a mains outlet, please doublecheck if it is
properly grounded. Never operate the SRWpower LE without proper ground
connection.
Never operate the SRWpower LE under water or in wet conditions!
Disregarding this advice could cause severe injuries or death!
Also, please make sure that the power cord is disconnected and the SRWpower LE is
switched off before mechanically connecting it via the V-mount.
Disregarding this advice could cause damage to your devices.
Check the input voltage of your device weather it compies with the output specs of the
SRWpower LE first.

Christoph F. Bruggaier, Bavariafilmplatz 7, D-82031 Grünwald, Germany version 1.0, Oct. 2008, page 6 of 9
Attach the SRWpower LE to your recording system in the same way a battery would be
attached. Therefore, press the release knob at the side of the battery plate and slide the V-
mount receptacle of the SRWpower LE into the V-mount plate of your appliance, then
release the knob. Doublecheck if the V-mount connection is locked properly.
It is possible to run the SRWpower LE mechanically separate from the recorder by using
appropriate V-mount cable adaptors, or by ordering the option 01 upfront.
Before disconnecting the SRWpower LE from your appliance, please make sure that it
is switched off and disconnected from mains.
Disregarding this advice may lead to burnt V-mount contacts and may destroy the
SRWpower or your appliance.
Avoid transportation of your appliance with the SRWpower LE and/or battery attached.
The mechanical inertia of the attached device can damage the V-mount and/or the
appliance.
Please store the system in a safe place when not in use.
The SRWpower LE has a considerable weight and could cause severe injuries when it drops.
Do not cover the unit! Covering the SRWpower LE during operation can cause a fire
hazard and will destroy the unit!
Always keep it in the coolest place available when running. This will extend the unit’s lifetime.
We can detect massive overheating incidents related to covering the SRWpower LE. In such
a case, the warranty will void.
Operate the SRWpower LE upright whenever possible.
This will insure best air flow and will keep the appliance temperature low.
Please note the power derating chart in the technical specification!
The SRWpower LE might become warm even when running under room temperature. This is
a normal behaviour and does not indicate a defect. Although, under normal conditions, the
surface temperature should not exceed about 55°C. Please remove load if the device
temperature exceeds 55°C.

Operation
Switch the SRWpower LE on by operating the mains switch located right underneath the
power inlet. The blue operating LED goes on. Then switch on your appliance.
If, for some reason, the AC supply fails, the battery attached to the SRWpower LE will
substitute the AC supply for a short time. This situation is indicated by a red flashing LED on
the top main panel (bail out condition). With a full battery, you will at least be able to finish
your take. The amount of time for which the battery is able to substitute the AC supply is
limited and depends on its capacity and wear. Therefore it is advisable to attach a fully
loaded battery to the SRWpower LE before beginning to record.
Before switching off the SRWpower LE, please make sure that you have shut down your
appliance and it is switched off completely to prevent data loss and damage.
Troubleshooting
Please make sure not to overload the SRWpower LE. If, for any reason, the SRWpower LE
maximum output was exceeded, the secondary fuse on the top main panel will blow. This will
be indicated through a red LED (fuse fail.). If a secondary fuse is blown, it has to be replaced
with exactly the same type and value (5x20mm, 8A slow blow) after having cleared the
overload situation. Please switch the SRWpower LE off and remove the AC cord before
replacing a fuse.
There are no servicable parts inside the SRWpower LE. Please contact the
manufacturer/dealer in case of any malfunction. We will try to help you getting the problem
fixed as soon as possible.
Transportation and storage
The normal storage temperature of this unit lays between –25°C and +60°C, the operating
temperature is specified from –20 to +40°C.
Please allow temperature adaption before unpacking after drastic temperature changes to
prevent water condensation and to allow remaining condensed water to dry off. We
recommend to use silica gel pads to create a dry atmosphere in the transport case. Please
take into account that these pads have to be freshened up on a regular basis by drying them
according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Maintenance
The SRWpower LE usually does not need service on a regular base when operated in the
specified environment.
If your SRWpower LE was exposed to spill water or rain, it should be dried immediately with
a clean dry cloth. Please make sure that the SRWpower LE is completely dry before
reactivating it.
In case of dust or sand have found their way to the inside of the SRWpower LE, you can use
a vacuum cleaner to remove it carefully through the ventilation holes.
If there are still some particles inside, the grip should be sent in and cleaned by authorized
service personnel.
Please refrain from attempting to service the equipment by yourself without proper training.
There are no user serviceable parts inside.
