Power Supply
The Blue Classic is designed to operate from a 9V DC supply. Minimum allowed voltage is 7.2V
DC and maximum voltage is 12V DC.
External Power Supply
Power can be supplied from either a 9V DC regulatedpower pack with a 2.1mm coaxial plug with
negative connected to the centre pin, or a 9V battery. The power pack should be rated at greater
than 20mA and must be rated at less than 1A. The pedal is protected from reverse power
connection by a diode, reverse connected across the positive and negative contacts of the DC jack.
If an incorrectly polarized or AC supply is connected, this diode will effectively short circuit the
supply, protecting the pedal circuitry from damage. If an incorrect power supply remains
connected, the power supply may be damaged.
Battery
A battery compartment is provided for powering the pedal from a 9V Alkaline battery.
To access the battery compartment, peel off the non-slip base which is attached with hook and
loop tape.
To install a battery, follow the pictures below.

To remove battery, use a small
screwdriver, key, coin, thumb nail
etc. to push the battery back
against the spring, and lift the
snap and battery out.

Using the Blue Classic
Foot Switches
The switches are 3PDT and have gold contacts.
Effect Switch
This is the on/off or bypass switch. It is wired for true bypass. The blue LED will light when the
pedal is operating.
Drive Switch
This switch activates the Drive control and increases the power supply sag that is designed into the
Blue Classic. It also applies an increase in output level, depending on Drive control setting. The
orange LED will light when Drive is operating. If Drive is activated with the pedal bypassed, the
orange LED will light, but the pedal will remain bypassed. This feature allows the guitarist to see
what mode the pedal will be in when the Effect switch is operated. The LED draws only about
3mA.
Note: The switches can assume a “half-operated” state if the plungers are bumped during travel
and set-up. This is a characteristic of the switch mechanism and nota fault. Always fully operate
both switches once before using the pedal.
Controls
Output
Sets the output volume when the pedal is not bypassed. When the pedal is not in Drive mode,
unity gain will be between 7 and 10 o'clock, depending on guitar pickup output. This control is
passive and will not affect the sound of the pedal. This control is active in both normal and Drive
modes.
Note:Output level will be affected by Drive and Voice control settings.
Voice
Operates somewhat like a tone control, but is much more than a tone control. While it does
increase mid-top boost, it also fattens the sound by enhancing transients and harmonics, even on
bass notes. Voice is active in both normal and Drive modes. Output level will increase slightly as
the Voice control is turned from minimum to maximum.
Drive
Sets the gain of the pedal's preamp. It is active only in Drive mode. Drive controls the amount of
distortion produced by the pedal. Output level increases significantly as drive is increased.

Suggested Settings
Output
For unity gain, start with Output between 8 and 9 o'clock. With Drive off, switch the effect in and
out, making fine adjustments to Output, until the level is the same with the pedal in or out. For over
driving a guitar amp, set Output past 12 o'clock.
Voice
We suggest starting with Voice at about 10 or 11 o'clock. There is no real "sweet spot" for Voice,
because it has such a wide range of influence on the sound of the pedal. At settings above 1
o'clock, some single coil bridge pickups can sound a little harsh. Cutting back on the guitar tone
control a small amount will usually correct this without losing any "bite".
Drive
Start around 10 to 11 o'clock, then experiment. Drive is very dependent on pickup output and
playing style.

Serial Number
The pedal serial number is located on the base of the battery compartment.
Warranty
The ClinchFX Blue Classic is covered against manufacturing defects for a period of one
year from date of purchase. At our discretion we will either repair or replace faulty units.
We will not accept responsibility for failures in other connected equipment.
Warranty does not cover failures resulting from misuse including, but not limited to:
Immersion in liquids, physical damage, incorrect power supply, unauthorized
modifications, faults in connected equipment, acts of God, etc.
Return shipping and insurance costs shall be the responsibility of the owner.
Should you wish to make a warranty claim, please notify us using the "contact us" page
at www.clinchfx.comquoting pedal serial number, purchase date, contact details and
proof of purchase from ClinchFX or an authorized retailer. We will then contact you to
make arrangements for return or replacement. Should we have an authorized service
agent in your area, we may direct you to that agent.
