1Codex Vault S Assembly Guide
This guide provides instructions on how to correctly assemble or disassemble the modules of a VAULT S system. For support contact support@codexdigital.com
IMPORTANT –Only disconnect and reconnect the modules of the VAULT when the system is not powered.
This image shows a VAULT S system fully assembled. There are several modules that can be used to build a VAULT system:
Process module –this allows loading of various media such as
Codex Onboard Datapacks, Capture and Transfer Drives. It has a
Touchscreen User Interface.
The Process Module also comes with a removable base that
goes at the bottom of any VAULT S system.
Storage module –this contains RAID storage that can be used
as intermediate storage for data prior to archiving and/or file
generation.
Archive module –this contains two LTO5 drives that can be
used to make backups.
The Process module can function alone, whilst the other modules
can only be used in conjunction with the Process module.

2Disconnecting Modules
Each module has a Module Lock Screw and Module Locked Indicator. To disassemble a VAULT S system:
1. On the Process Module turn the Module Lock Screw anti-clockwise until it cannot be turned further. The Module Locked Indicator will show green to indicate
that the Module is unlocked.
2. Slowly lift the Process Module upwards, taking care to keep it level. Rotating or angling the Modules as they are separated may result in damage to the
Inter-Module Connector.
3. Repeat these steps for any other modules. Always disconnect modules from the Process Module down.

3Connecting modules
To assemble a VAULT S system:
1. Start with the base laid on a flat surface.
2. The base should be oriented so that the Codex logo is readable.
Note: On earlier versions of the base the longer brass components must be on the left. On later versions all brass components are the same length.
3. Prepare the Modules that will be used by ensuring that the Module Lock Screw has been turned fully anti-clockwise, and that the Module Locked Indicator
isgreen (unlocked position).
4. Orientate the first Module so that the Module Lock Screw is nearest you and slowly lower it onto the base, taking care to keep it level. Rotating or angling the
Modules as they are connected may result in damage to the Inter-Module connectors.
5. When the Module is flat against the base turn the Module Lock Screw fully clockwise until the Module Locked Indicator becomes grey (locked position).
6. Repeat the previous steps for any other Modules. Always connect Modules from the base up.
IMPORTANT: If present the Archive Module must always go on the base first. The Process Module must always be at the top of any VAULT S system.
