Please read all instructions carefully before operation, to ensure your complete understanding and to
obtain the best possible performance from the unit.
INFORMATION
This equipment has been tested and found to
comply with the limits for Class digital device,
pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are

Caution of the monitor*
This product has a fluorescent lamp that
contains mercury. Disposal of these materials
may be regulated in your community due to
environmental considerations. For disposal or
recycling information, please contact your local
authorities or for USA, the Electronic Industries
Alliance: http://www.eiae.org.
- The monitor built in this unit has been produced
with high precision, but it may have some
ineffective dots. This is inevitable and is not
malfunction.
- Do not expose the monitor to direct sunlight.
- Do not operate the touch panel using a ball-point
pen or similar tool with the sharp tip.
- Touch the buttons on the touch panel with your
finger directly (if you are wearing a glove, take it
off).
- When the temperature is very cold or very hot...
- Chemical changes occur inside, causing malfunction.
- Pictures may not appear clearly or may move
slowly. Pictures may not be synchronized with
the sound or picture quality may decline in such environments.
WARNINGS:
To prevent accidents and damage
• DO NOT install any unit or wire and cable in a
location where;
– It may obstruct the steering wheel and
gearshift lever operations.
– It may obstruct the operation of safety
devices such as air bags.
– It may obstruct visibility.
• DO NOT operate the unit while driving.

Cautions for Users' Safety
Before using your CN-M5 GPS navigator (Referred to “navigator" in this manual), please read through all caution
prescriptions in this manual and use the product safely.Neither Compass-NAV Inc. nor its suppliers are responsible for
user’s disregard to:
- Read and follow the manuals and its instructions.
- Follow living/visiting country laws.
- Adjust their driving to road and traffic conditions.
- Follow local road instructions.
The navigator has to be use with diligence all the time.
- Do not perform complex task with the navigator while driving. It may cause severe injuries or death.
- The navigator is a complement device for safe driving. Therefore, do not only fully rely on the navigation system
but also make sure you drive your vehicle in compliance with actual road/traffic conditions and local regulations.
Always follow road instructions despite of GPS instructions.
- Do not install the navigator in a position that blocks driver's view or hide vehicle operation.
- Follow installation manual instructions carefully. Installer has to be careful to not interfere navigator’s cabling
with active / passive car safety device (Ex: Air bags, seat belts, indicators, etc…)
- Do not install by yourself if you do not have qualifications or/and tools to perform the retrofit. You may damage
car’s components, navigator if not professionally installed. It can also result of poor performance or personal
injuries.
- Please perform all customization when the vehicle is parked and engine turned off.
- Adjust screen brightness and volume level properly before driving.
- Avoid any spatters or submerge in any contaminants. Doing so will damage your device and will void your
warranty instantly.
- Excessive shock or dropping the navigator may cause device failure. Doing so will void your warranty instantly.
- Using the product for a long time with the vehicle engine stopped can lead to discharge off the vehicle battery.
- Use the product at an appropriate temperature range to minimize malfunctions. Appropriate temperature range: 0
~ 60℃(32 ~ 140°F)

5.0 Software Interface
5.1 Intro Screen (Boot Screen):
When you turn on the ignition, the navigator is executed with loading screen. Please read the caution instructions.
5.2 Home Screen SET-UP (Setting !Other Menu !3 Choices):
The user can select between 3 Home screens.
For the change to take effect, you must restart the device by turning OFF and ON the car Ignition key)
SIMPLE: This is the DEFAULT HOME screen. This screen cannot be customized by the user.
USER: Default shortcuts are shown at the bottom of the screen. In this home screen, user can choose his preferred
wallpaper. Please consult PHOTO Album for wallpaper change procedure.
WIDGET: In this Home screen, the user can designate icon location, background and type.

SIMPLE
This is the basic HOME screen. Menu is presented into an easy to read layout with Vintage gray tone background.
Shortcuts appearance and location can’t be changed.
USER
This is the HOME screen where the user can choose his favorite wallpaper (background picture). The above picture is
the default HOME screen for USER mode. As mention above, you can choose the desired picture as a background
screen. For instructions, please refer to the photo album section.
WIDGET
In this main menu, icons can be moved by drag and drop. You can make a desired main menu by setting icon’s display,
style and position movement in main menu position setting.

WIDGET
When you touch the main menu position setting at the end of the left side in WIDGET menu, settings screen is displayed
and can make a desired main menu by setting, style and movement of the icon in combination as shown below.
1- Touch the left border and WIDGET setting page will appear.
2- Touch and hold icon and drag it at the location you wish.
3- Choose the icons you wish to be shown on the WIDGET screen.
4- Select the window style you wish to have (2 choices)
5- Exit the setting page.

6.0 Quick Menu:
Quick Menu is an easy access to other screens without going thru the Home screen. The user can select whatever
function available minimizing key press and distraction.
Quick Menu usage
1. From your current screen (at the exception of HOME screen) look for the “Q” icon, on the top left of the screen and
press once.
2. The Quick Menu will appear and choose the desired function. This will bring you to your selection. If no shortcut is
pressed within 3 seconds, the Quick Menu will hide by itself.

7.0 File Browser
The File Browser is available for the Music, Video and Photo Album libraries. It is also needed to browse, select and
choose your files from your external storage device such as a Thumb drive or portable drive located in the glove box.
How to play a Media file:
1. Insert your Flash device into the external USB port of extension kit.
2. Select the playlist (1-4) of wish you want to have your selected music to appear. (MP3 Player only)
3. Press button from the Movie Player or Music Player screens to open the File Browser window below.

File Browser layout
File List: Files in the selected storage Play List: Selected files to add to the play list
1. Closes the File browser window and return to Movie Player or Music Player screens.
2. Choose the media storage device.
3. Storage Folder structure
4. Move to one level up in the file folder structure.
5. Add all files listed to the Play List.
6. Add a single file to the Play List.
7. Remove a single file from the Play List.
8. Remove all files listed from the Play List.
9. Displays all the files in the current folder.

8.0 Navigation
Touch the Navigation icon from Home screen or from the Quick Menu.

IMPORTANT:
The navigation software and maps are stored to the SD Card only! Provided SD Card must be present all the time in the
USB / SD Card extension box for software to be operative.
The card can only be removed when the system is completely OFF.
(Failing to observe this notice will permanently damage your SD Card and not covered by the warranty)

9.0 Movie Player:
Touch the Movie icon from Home screen or from the Quick Menu.
1. : Shows Quick Menu.
2. : Quits movie player and return to Home Screen.
3. : Launch the navigation software.
4. Progress bar. Shows total length of movie and name.
5. Touch the position to jump to the desired movie part.
6. Previous file Play and pause file next file.
7. : File browser. Calls the File browser. Select a file or edit playlist here.
8. : Repeat function. Tap the icon to change to ‘Repeats entire playlist continuously.
8.1 -> Repeats entire playlist once -> repeat the current movie only.
9. : Adjust Screen Ratio. User can select Original movie ratio or full screen ratio of movie.
10. : Toggle Mute / Unmute.
11. Raise / Decrease Video Player volume.
12. Mark is displayed on the file currently playing.
13. Touch to see the previous file list.
14. Touch to see the next file list.
15. Subtitle option: Subtitle ON/OFF, letter size, normal/bold font, and subtitle language.
Notice: The video playback will be blocked above 10 Km/h (6 MPH) for the driver screen only. Screen connected to the
AV/Out for the rear seats entertainment will be unlocked in motion.
