OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:
This barometer is designed to be used with the Air Corrections program and will provide you with
accurate readings for the current atmospheric pressure. A barometer is essentially a very accurate
altimeter covering a smaller scale. A barometer will not only respond to changes in air pressure at
a given altitude but it will also respond to changes in altitude itself.
This is a precision instrument and needs to be treated as such. It should be carried in a foam fitted
carrying case to properly protect it and to help maintain its calibration. This model is designed to
be used by racers who compete at tracks with a physical elevation of 2,500 feet or less.
Barometer Calibration: Prior to using the barometer it must be properly calibrated to absolute
pressure by you, the actual user. Calibration is easy and can be done in less than 3 minutes.
Simply run the Calibrate Barometer program found in the SET-UP menu of the DRAG RACE
SYSTEM computer. Instructions for that program can be found in the DRAG RACE SYSTEM
instruction manual. It is preferable that you make your calibration when the barometric pressure is
reported as being steady, as opposed to rising or falling.
To make this calibration, carefully turn the recessed adjustment screw on the back of the barometer
until the black indicating hand matches the required setting. Tap the face of the barometer lightly
after making the adjustment to settle the needle. Readjust the adjustment screw as necessary to
correctly calibrate the instrument. The gold needle on the face of the barometer is used only as a
reference pointer and in no way affects the calibration or reading of the instrument.
