Main Battery Upgrade –
Existing Nickel Cadmium battery is replaced
with Concorde Battery RG-380E/44 (24V/42Ah).
Auxiliary Battery Upgrade –
Existing Nickel Cadmium battery is replaced
with Concorde Battery RG-42 (24V/17Ah).

This STC provides for the
installation of Concorde RG-
380E/44 main ship & RG-42
auxiliary lead acid batteries
in place of the existing Nickel
Cadmium batteries in the
ATR-42/72 Avions de Transport
Regionale Aircraft Series. Please
note this STC replaces Nickel
Cadmium batteries in both
positions. Remove existing battery
from aircraft in accordance with
ATR-42/72 Maintenance Manual.
1. Install a dummy plug (7945) on
each aircraft side temperature
sensor connector. Stow the
temp sensor connector from
each battery.
2. Install placards (6716) on battery
temperature alarms indicating
that they are not operational.
3. Install Concorde RG-380E/44
IAW ATR 42/72 Maintenance
Manual Instructions for
installing the main Nickel
Cadmium. Omit that portion
of the instruction pertaining to
connection of the temperature
sensor connector.
4. Install Concorde RG-42 IAW
ATR 42/72 Maintenance Manual
Instructions for installing the
auxiliary Nickel Cadmium. Omit
that portion of the instruction
pertaining to connection of the
temperature sensor connector.
5. Perform the battery operational
tests IAW ATR-42/72
Maintenance Manual.
6. Weigh the batteries being
removed & update the weight &
balance for the installed battery.

This sensor disables the battery temperature warning system which is not required for lead acid
batteries.
