36V70 LI-ION BATTERY

INTRODUCTION
Congratulations on the purchase of your Rebelcell 36V70 li-ion battery (2,69 kWh - with or
without matching battery charger and accessories). The battery has been developed for use as
a power source for e-boating with 36V electric motors and 36V trolling engines in angling boats.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
Your Rebelcell li-ion battery (hereafter battery) has been engineered with a safe and long user
life in mind. It is important to thoroughly review this instruction and follow the safety precau-
tions. Not doing so may invalidate the warranty and result in the malfunctioning of your battery
and further damage.
cable) to connect your trolling engine to the battery for safe use. Never use crocodile clamps
to connect to the battery! These connections are not safe and can result in heat development
with damage to your outboard or battery.
the trolling engine to protect both.
• Avoid direct contact of your hands with both battery terminals: danger of electric shock!
• Avoid reversing the + and – battery terminals when connecting the battery. This can lead to
irreversible damage to your battery!
• Only use isolated tools when installing your battery. And keep metal objects, such as jewelry,
away from the battery.
• Your battery is ‘waterproof’ according to the IP54 standard. To avoid issues we recommend
placing the battery in a waterproof battery container and/or on a elevation to ensure that the
battery is never partly or fully in the water on the bottom of your boat. Water damage is
explicitly excluded from the warranty.

GUIDELINES FOR USE
Your battery has been designed as a power source for electric boating and use in angling (36V
trolling engine), but is expliclty NOT suitable to use as a starter battery for internal combustion
engines (like in cars and outboards).
Use with an e-motor
The 36V70 battery can handle a continuous load of 100A. As the battery voltage remains nearly
constant until the battery is almost empty, you will notice that thrust remains high and con-
the runtime of your e-motor. As the capacity indicator on your e-motor is designed for lead
batteries it is not reliable.
State of charge indicator
That is why your battery comes equipped with a digital state of charge indicator. You can acti-
vate the indicator by pressing the silver-colored power button to ‘on’. We recommend you leave
state of charge indicator. The power button is only for the display: the battery also works when
Discharging
Fully discharging your battery is not harmful. The battery is protected by an advanced inte-
discharge. Due to low self-discharge (~ 2% per month) voltage may drop below critical levels
to prevent the battery being discharged by charge status indicator. If the battery is not used for
a longer period of time, we recommend charging to 50% for optimum service life.
Charging
the warranty is void if damage occurs. Lead-acid battery chargers are not suitable to charge
-
cannot be charged at temperatures of 0°C and lower. The maximum charge current should not
be higher than 50A.

Battery charger (when using the matching 42V20A waterproof battery charger)
Read the warnings on the battery charger sticker before use and follow the instructions!
Step 1
Step 2 connect the power cord to the AC-outlet.
Step 3 the charging process will start automatically.
The LED’s on the charger indicate the status of the charging process. Unplug the power cord
before disconnecting the charging cables from the battery. It takes 4-5 hours with the 42V20A
waterproof charger to fully charge an empty 36V70 battery.
BMS and safety
protection against deep discharge, overcharge, too high or too low temperatures, high currents
and cell balancing. When certain safety thresholds are exceeded, the battery will shutdown as
not happen automatically you need to disconnect your e-motor or other equipment in order to
reset the battery. After a few minutes you can reconnect your equipment. The activation of the
of a component in your electrical system or overheating of the battery. If this happens contact
your electrician to check your electrical system.
Warranty
