Introduction
The Magic Bridge is an USB to IDE and eSATAto SATA dual interfaces bridge adapter. It allows you
to connect an existing ATA/ATAPI/ IDE interface device via USB port or SATA interface device via
eSATA port. Depending on the power adapter provided it is possible to work both interfaces at the
same time. The Magic Bridge does not require any ID or jumper setting requirement. It provides a
quicker, easier and more flexible storage bridge for your storage equipments.
Hardware Requirements
zIBM®PC or Macintosh®computer with one USB2.0 and/or SATA host connector.
zRequires Windows®ME/ 2000/ XP and Mac®10.X or higher.
zWindows®98/SE requires device driver.
zRequires standard ATA/ATAPI/ IDE/SATA interface storage devices.

Setting Up
Important Safety Precautions
Please always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid any possibility of serious injury
from electrical shock.
)Mark sure your computer is electrically grounded. Otherwise there is an increase risk of electric
shock.
)Make sure your hands are dry. Otherwise there is an increase risk of electric shock.
)Touch the exposed metal casing of your computer's power supply before you handle the Magic
Bridge adapter and storage device to prevent damage from static discharge.
)Handle bare IDE/ATA/ATAPI/SATA devices by the metal housing to avoid touching the electronic
components.
)Any contact of conductible materials to the exposed component of your storage hard drive is
prohibited. It may damage your device via a short circuit.
)Use IDE/ATA/ATAPI/SATAdevices and Magic Bridge on a flat table with firm connection. To
prevent any accidental fall off.
Connecting IDE/ATA/ATAPI/ devices
When you use an ATA or ATAPI device you must connect to computer host via USB port. It does not
work via eSATA port. You can set up the device following these steps:
1. Make sure the powered switch is place in off position.
2. Set your ATA/ATAPI device hardware configuration in MASTER position first, you can refer to the
configured jumper table on the device. Following is a picture showing anATA hard disk drive
configured jumper setting.

3. Connects Magic Bridge’s 40-Pin female connector to your ATA/ATAPI device’s 40-Pin male IDE
connector, the connection should be precise and completely accessible inserted in alignment order.
4. Insert the 4-P powered cord connector to your device’s DC input power connector and the RED wire
should be on the side of IDE connector.
5. Plug external power adapter to the Magic Bridge’s DC jack.
6. Connect USB cable to your PC USB 2.0 host port.
7. Slide the power switch to ON the Magic Bridge will start operating.
8. You can refer to the following photos for drive connection.
Note: The Magic Bridge can work with both USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 host port, but to achieve a high-speed
data transfer rate. We recommend you connect to an USB 2.0 high-speed host port.
WARNING:
To avoid damage of hard drive, please handle with great care. Do not shake or drop your hard
drive. It may damage your storage device.

Connecting SATA devices
When you use a SATA device you must connect to a computer host via eSATA port. It does not work
with USB port. You can set up your device following these steps:
1.Make sure the powered switch is place in off position.
2.Connects Magic Bridge’s SATAconnector to your SATA device connector, the connection should be
precise and completely accessible inserted in alignment order.
3.Plug external power adapter to the Magic Bridge’s DC jack.
4.Connect eSATA cable to your PC eSATA host port.
5.Slide the power switch to ON the Magic Bridge will start operating

Connecting both ATA/ATAPI and SATA devices
(Depending on power adapter provided)
The Magic Bridge allows you install both ATA and SATA devices if power adapter supply over than
5A current, otherwise you can only use one device. You can set up both devices following these steps:
1. Make sure the powered switch is place in off position.
2. Connects ATA/ATAPI and SATA devices to Magic Bridge as above-mentioned process.
3. Connect eSATA cable and USB cable to your PC eSATA and USB host port.
4. Slides the powered switch to ON, Windows will automatically detect your devices.
5. You can refer to the following example photo for dual interfaces connection.

Connecting 2.5 inch IDE hard drives
The Magic Bridge allows you to connect a 2.5inch hard drive via a 40Pin to 44Pin cable converter as
following figure. (This item is an optional accessory, it may not include for this package.)
1) Connect 40-pin male header of converter to Magic Bridge’s 40-Pin IDE female connector.
2) Connect 44-pin female header into 2.5” hard drive disk’s dual row header completely, and the mark
pin-1 should be matched with the 44-pin female flat cable red wire pin. Refer to the following photo.
3) Connect both 4-P and 2-P 5V power connectors together, their red wire should be in the same side.
4) Connect Magic Bridge USB cable to your PC’s USB host port.
5) Slides the powered switch to ON.

Start from Windows®ME、2000、XP and Mac OS
The Magic Bridge is driver-free for Windows®ME、Windows®2000、Windows®XP and Mac OS,
you don’t have to install any driver, just connect your storage device following the setup
instruction, then turn on the power switch, Windows will automatically detect and reveal a new
storage disk icon on “My Computer” windows.

Indicator Description
There is a red power indicator for power ready diagnosis.
Safely Remove Magic Bridge
You must disable the “safe removal” icon on the taskbar, and “turn OFF” the power switch before you
remove the Magic Bridge adapter.
