1. Preface
PRO-MLS is an universal motorized stand, which can be used in a wide range of
microscopic as well as macroscopic applications. The stand is designed for mounting of
a wide range of optical devices as well as microscopic stages and illuminators. The robust
construction provides excellent rigidity and high bearing (up to 16kg). The range of Z axis
movement is protected by limit switches. The lower limit switch vertical position is
adjustable. The stand is designed to be controlled by a CB-ZM-MLS control unit.

2. Safety Precautions
General
1. The moving parts of the PRO-MLS stand are capable of developing a strong force.
Never place your hands close to the moving parts of the device. You may take a risk
of serious injury.
2. Never open the curtains while the device is in use. Always unplug the cable before
entering internal parts of the device.
3. Never stick any objects into the inner spaces of the device while the device is in use.
“CE” mark indicates that this product complies with European EN
61326-1:06 standards.
This symbol (crossed-out wheeled bin WEEE Annex IV) indicates separate
collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment in the EU countries.
Please do not throw the equipment into domestic refuse. Please use the
return and collection systems available in your country for disposal of this
product.
RoHS compliance – this product complies with EC directive 2002/95/EC (the RoHS
Directive), which restricts the use of the hazardous substances in electrical and electronic
equipment.

3. Device Description
4. System Assembly
4.1. General Assembly
PRO-MLS device is delivered disassembled into two main parts: the motorized column
and the bedplate.
The rst step of assembly process is the mounting of the motorized column to the bedplate
using six M8 hexagon screws (screws and screw driver are included in the package). See
gure:

Note
The motorized column does not have to be necessarily mounted to the bedplate.
It can be also mounted to a working desk or a table if necessary. This extends
rapidly the versatility of the device.
4.2. Mounting of Adapters for Optical Devices
The motorized carriage part of the device is equipped with 6 mounting M5 holes for
attaching adapters for various optical devices (microscopes, macro cameras...)
Mounting of PRO-FUAD Adapter
The PRO-FUAD adapter is intended for mounting of OLYMPUS®stereomicroscopes
including the focusing unit. For more information see “Scheme of
Compatibility“ on page 12.
Mount the PRO-FUAD adapter to the motorized carriage using four hexagon M5 screws
and seal the holes by the stickers (screws, stickers and screw driver are included in the
adapter package). See gure:

Mounting of PRO-ZBAD Adapter
The PRO-ZBAD adapter is intended for mounting of OLYMPUS®stereomicroscopes
without focusing unit. For more information see “Scheme of Compatibility“ on page 12.
Mount the PRO-ZBAD adapter to the motorized carriage using four hexagon M5 screws
and seal the holes by the stickers (screws and stickers are included in the adapter package).

4.3. Mounting of Microscopic Stages
Microscopic stages can be mounted to PRO-MLS stand using two M4 mounting holes
located in the stage plate opening.
4.4. Mounting of Illuminators
For mounting of illuminators there are two M4 holes located at the back side of the
motorized column.
4.5. Mounting of Specimen Holders
There are two holes located at the top of the bedplate close to the stage plate opening for
attachment of specimen holders.
4.6. Cabling
Make sure the CB-ZM-MLS control unit is switched off. Connect the cable included in
the package of the CB-ZM-MLS control unit to the connector located at the back side of

the PRO-MLS stand and secure it by two screws. Connect the connector at the second end
of the cable to the CB-ZM-MLS control unit and secure it by the screws also.
5. Limit Switches
The PRO-MLS stand is equipped with two limit switches. The limit switches are located
inside the motorized column part of the device. The upper limit switch position is xed.
The vertical position of the lower limit switch is adjustable. If there is a microscopic stage
mounted to the PRO-MLS stand or specimens of a signicant height are to be observed,
the lower limit switch position should be adjusted to prevent possible damage of specimens
or optics. In order to adjust the vertical position of lower limit switch proceed as follows:
1. Move the motorized carriage to the upper limit using the CB-ZM-MLS control unit.
2. Switch off the CB-ZM-MLS control unit and disconnect the cable from the PRO-MLS
stand.
3. Raise up the bottom part of the lower curtain which is fastened by a Velcro fastener.
(There is no big force necessary to do this).
4. Locate the limit switch printed circuit board at the left side of the inner space of the
motorized column.
5. Loosen up the M6 hexagonal screw which secures the position of the limit switch as
well as it works as a mechanical backstop. Do not screw out the screw, just loosen it
up.
6. Move the lower limit switch to the desired vertical position.
7. To x the limit switch position tighten the M6 hexagonal screw.
8. Place the lower curtain to the original position.
6. Grounding
There are four holes located at the rear side of the bedplate which are intended for grounding
purposes.
