SAFETYPRECATIONS
Always turn off the electricpower supply before servicing
any electrical
component,
making
ohmmeterchecks,
orreplacing
any
parts.
Allvoltage
checks
should
bemade witha voltmeter
having
a fullscale
range
of
130volts
orhigher.
After
serviceiscompleted,
besureall
safety-grounding
circuits
arecomplete,
all
electrical
connections
aresecure,
and
all
access
panels
areinplace.
TIMER
With
thetimer,
userselects
thevarious
cleaning
cyclesof thedishwasher.
The
timer
controls
all
theelectricalfunctions
ofthedishwasher inallstages
of each
cycle.Allfunctions
canbetraced
onthechart.Diagram
provided
inthis
service
manual.
ToTestTheTimer
lf thetimerissuspected
offaultyoperation,
reference
timerchartand
electrical
schematic
diagram
and
proceed
asfollows:
1. lndex
thetimer
to thefirstincrement
of the normal
cycle,
whichis a drain
period.
2. lf the pump
motorfails
to operate
during
thefirst
cycleincrement,
check
for
power
atthe
pump
motor
connector
block,if
there
isno
power
check
thedoor
latch
switch,
if thereis power,
check
thepump motoras describedin this
section.
3. lfthe
pump
motor
does
operate,let
thetimermotor
advancethe
timer
through
the drainincrement
to determine
if thetimermotoranddrivetrain
arefully
operative.
4. Let the timeradvance,
or indexit forward
to the portion
of the cycle in
question.
5. lfa component
controlled
bythetimerfails
tofunctionasthetimer
advances
through
thecycle,
checkforvoltage
atthetimerterminals.lfthe
checkvoltage
is suppliedto the component,
check
the component
as described
in this
section.
Continuity
through
timercontacts,
othercontrols,
and wires can also be
checked
with
anohmmeter
with
electrical
power
disconnected.
lf thetimers
contactsfail
to closeinthesequence
shownonthetimer
chart
areburned
(have
resistance
measurable
with
anohmmeter),
oriftimer
does
not
advanceautomatically,
replace
thetimer.

When

TROUBLESHOOTING
Thetroubleshooting

toaccomplishthesamethinganddiagnosiswill

similar.
Whena problem
arises,anda possible
causeis listed,follow the test,
removeor replace
procedures
as outline in this servicemanual.The
wiring diagram,shematicand timer cycle chat is a necessitywhen
making
electrical
checks.Inmostcases
anohmmeter
will handle
allthe
testsnecessary.
Forcheckingany particular
cycleof operation,it absolutely
necessary
thatthecyclebe
setupasoutlined
intheproduct owner's
guide.
