Before You Start... 04
Prior to initial use, the appliance must be operated in an empty
condition in order to allow possible assembly agents to evaporate.
When doing so, ensure sufÞcient ventilation, e.g. through opened
windows!
Before using the appliance for the Þrst time, check whether the voltage speciÞcation
on the rating plate corresponds to that of your household.
Remove all protective Þlms.
Prior to initial use, rinse the slow cooker, the glass lid and the ceramic pot with
lukewarm water and dry the parts carefully.
Wipe the pot oven with a slightly damp cloth and carefully dry off all moist residues.
Do not use any harsh detergents!
Never immerse the pot oven into water or another liquid and
never rinse with water or detergents.
Completely unroll the mains cable, but do not connect the mains plug yet.
Select a suitable location (min. 20cm distance to the sides and unobstructed upwards)
for the pot oven. Lay the ceramic pot and the glass lid aside.
Ensure that the cooking level switch is turned to OFF.
Connect the mains plug to a properly installed 230V socket.

Prepare all ingredients for the dish before connecting the slow
cooker to the mains.
Place the appliance on a stable, even and heat-resistant surface with at least 20cm
distance to other items. The appliance must not be obstructed upwards. Consider that
the cooking time can take up to 10 hours – do not move the slow cooker during the
cooking time.
Place the ingredients into the ceramic pot and cover it with the glass lid.
Put the ceramic pot into the pot oven.
Ensure that the cooking level switch (4) is turned to
OFF.
Connect the mains plug to a properly installed 230V
socket.
Turn the cooking level switch (4) to the required
cooking level:
HIGH Higher temperature - shorter cooking time
(4-6 hours)
LOW Lower temperature - longer cooking time
(8-10 hours)
AUTO Slow cooker starts at HIGH and switches to LOW after reaching the
pre-set temperature. The AUTO position speeds up the cooking of frozen
ingredients. Due to the higher temperature at the beginning, these thaw
more quickly. (Cooking time 5-7 hours)
The control lamp (5) illuminates in red as soon as the slow cooker is in operation.
After completion of the cooking process, turn the cooking level switch (4) to OFF and
then disconnect the mains plug.
General instructions for food preparation
•Most meat and vegetable dishes require 8 to 10 hours on LOW, 4 to 6 hours on
HIGH and 5 to 7 hours on AUTO, until they are cooked.
•Ingredients in small pieces cook more quickly.

•The ceramic pot should be Þlled at least half way with ingredients.
•In order to reduce liquid, remove the lid at the end of the cooking time and turn the
cooking level switch to HIGH.Then, allow the dish to continue cooking for another 30
to 45 minutes.
•If you brießy remove the lid during the cooking process, you will extend the cooking
time by 10 minutes each time.
•With dishes that have a large amount of liquid, do not Þll the ceramic pot up to the
edge of the lid. For simmering, there must be some space between the lid and the dish.
•If you prepare ingredients on the day before, do not store these in the ceramic pot.
Place the ingredients in a separate container in the refrigerator.
Do not keep any raw food in the ceramic pot at room
temperature.
•For several types of food, the cooking time is too long. Pasta, seafood, milk and
ingredients for Þnishing off (crème fraîche) need to be added at the end of the cooking
process, as they otherwise overcook.
•Root vegetables generally need longer than meat – basically place ingredients that
need longer to cook in the bottom of the ceramic pot.
•Larger pieces of meat or poultry should preferably be placed in the bottom section of
the ceramic pot and covered with liquid.
•Separate fat from meat before cooking the meat.
•With conventional dishes, which you intend to cook in the slow cooker, the amount of
liquid must be reduced, as only a small amount of liquid evaporates during the cooking
process.
•Red beans must be cooked conventionally for 10 minutes, before being cooked with
new water in the slow cooker.
Care instructions for the ceramic pot
•Through the continuous heat effect on the ceramic pot from the outside, Þne cracks
can develop in the glaze layer on the outside of the ceramic pot. These do not impair
the function.
•Do not use the ceramic pot for heating up foods.
•Avoid sudden temperature ßuctuations – do not pour any cold water into the hot
ceramic pot.
•The ceramic pot should not be put in the microwave, in the oven or in the freezer.
•Do now allow the ceramic pot to stand in water (sink).

Prior to cleaning, ensure that you disconnect the mains plug and
allow the appliance to cool off!
Never immerse the slow cooker in water or other liquids!
Do not use any metal implements, etching or harsh detergents. Clean the pot oven
with a soft, slightly dampened cloth with some washing-up liquid.
As the material of the ceramic pot can absorb water, do not clean in a dishwasher.
Dried-on food residues can be softened overnight with water and washing-up liquid.
The ceramic pot can then be lightly washed by hand.
Check the power cable for damage regularly.
Never try to open or repair the appliance yourself.
