3. Operation
3.1 Controls
When seated in the helm position, the throttle levers are to the right, which control
the gear & rpm of the two engines. To the left of the helm on top of the top box, are
the power trim controls, which should be used with reference to the trim gauges.
General controls are of standard marine type for this kind of craft. Steering is
hydraulic over hydraulic to provide smooth effortless control with minimal feedback.
Engine gearbox and rpm are cable operated by the throttle unit mounted on the
right of the helm. The mid position of the lever is neutral (i.e. no drive). When the
levers are pushed forward the craft accelerates forward. To stop pull the levers back
to neutral. Push levers down to reverse. The separate trim switches allow trim
adjustment.
Due to the neutral interlock safety system the engine cannot be started when
the gearbox is in either forward or reverse gear.
WARNING:
Do not start the engine with the drive engaged. Ensure
that the throttle control is in the neutral (central) position.

3.4 Getting Started
Firstly switch the battery isolators ON and familiarise yourself with the various
electrical equipment on board. Please consult the individual operation manuals for
each of the devices.
3.5/3.6 Engine & Sterndrive Access
Access to the engines can be gained through the engine housing at the stern
of the boat. By first releasing the catches on either side of the housing, the lid can be
hinged up (the lid is supported by gas struts). Access to the sterndrives, steering &
bilge pump is under the same lid.
Please consult the Yanmar engine manuals for engine details.
Please consult the Konrad stern drive manual for stern drive details.
3.7 Transom Deck Drains
The craft is fitted with ‘scupper’ type transom drains, which will allow the deck
to free-drain when the craft is underway. The flaps will be closed by reverse flowing
water and resist water re-entering the craft. When the craft is at rest these drains may
be below the water level and will allow water to flood onto the aft section of the
deck. This should not cause alarm, as only a limited amount of water will enter the
craft and due to the static trim of the craft only the very aft section will flood.

6900 U1 14
3.8 Batteries and Isolators
The craft is equipped with three maintenance free Squadron AGM 160
(12V/160Ah) batteries, located in the front of the engine housing. The batteries are
secured with ratchet straps that should be checked periodically for security.
The batteries are selected for use from the main switch panel on the top box.
The “PORT MAIN BATTERY” isolator switches the Port Battery, used primarily for
powering the port engine and drive. The “SERVICES MAIN BATTERY” isolator switches
the Services Battery which powers all onboard electrics and electronics. The
“STARBOARD MAIN BATTERY” isolator switches the Starboard Battery, used primarily for
powering the starboard engine and drive.
In emergency situations where extra power is needed to either start an engine
or power onboard electrics / electronics the Services Battery can be linked to the Port
and / or Starboard batteries. This should only be used in emergency situations where
one battery does not have sufficient power and the power of another battery is
required. Please note that when a link is turned off it remains linked for ten minutes.

3.9 Battery System Box
Located in the front of the engine housing on the port side is the battery
system box. This houses the five battery isolator master switches. Each of these has a
red switch with three positions: OFF, AUTO, and ON. Off turns the isolator off. Auto is
the normal running setting that allows the isolators to be remote switched from the
isolator switches on the console top box switch panel (see above). On is the manual
override that will turn the isolator on independently of the console switches. If the
manual override is used the switch must be returned to the Off position before Auto
can be selected again.

3.10 Battery Charging
The batteries are maintenance free, and are normally charged from the
engine alternators. However, they can also be charged via a shore power 24V
connection using the battery charging connection on the back of the port side aft
pod. Check that the ammeter is showing current when connected to be sure the
charger is working.
WARNING:
Shore power MUST be protected by an on shore RCD.

The battery charger is located inside the port side aft pod. The shore power
charging socket is on the back of the pod. The foam gasket that seals this
compartment must be checked regularly to ensure this area stays dry.
3.11 Junction Boxes
There are two junction boxes, one located on top of the console A Frame on
the port side, the other inside the front of the engine housing in the stbd front corner.
It is clearly labelled on each box to indicate which systems it covers. With the box
covers removed each terminal can checked with a multi-meter when fault finding.

3.12 Power Socket
There is a 12V power socket in the engine bay that is normally switched to
provide power to either the engine bay light or the A frame mounted “Alley Lights”.
The mater switch for this is labelled AUX on the right panel of the main switch panel.
3.13 Switches and Fuses
When a system fault occurs in an individual system, the circuit breaker will trip
for that system. With the top box open the circuit breakers for the switches on the

switch panel can be seen. If a circuit breaks it can be reset by pressing the button
which will have popped up in the corresponding circuit breaker switch.
If the fault continues, the system should be isolated and the problem rectified at the
earliest opportunity.
3.14 Fuel System

Delta 1220 ‘TRIPLE X-RANGE’ DIESEL STERNDRIVE RIB
6900 U1 20
The fuel system comprises of two under-deck stainless steel fuel tanks with a
total of 900ltr capacity. These are located under the console and seating area. An
inspection hatch is located to the rear of the helm and navigator seat pods providing
access to the inspection plates on the tanks. The fuel senders have been placed in
the centre of the tank’s inspection plates, for easy access. The fuel fillers are located
on the port and starboard side of the console. The breathers are contained within the
filler mouldings. The fuel shut off valves are located across the front of the engine
housing. The tanks can be dipped through the dipping up stands, also aft of the helm
and navigator seats.
WARNING:
Check that dipping caps are closed tight when underway,
and especially when filling the tanks with fuel.
If the inspection plate is removed, great care must be taken to ensure that it is
adequately sealed on replacement.
