Your
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
pedal is designed to be used between your guitar and amp to
increase the richness of your tone. It works best if you use a tube amp, and it has been designed to
give smooth boost until it runs out of headroom, then classic 4558 opamp distortion when pushed. The
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
has been described as “the best clean boost money can buy”.
The pedal is also well suited to driving long cables – “
HZD
” stands for High Z(impedance) Driver. Use
a short cable from your guitar to the pedal and use the pedal to drive the long/high impedance cables.
Your
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
pedal was designed in North America by fellow musicians.
Because we live here, we understand how a pedal should sound for the music you like to play. Our
certified engineers also know how to make pedals that are tough, reliable, and easy to use.
DingoTone cares about TONE. And our standards are high. All our pedals have great tone, great feel,
and sound fantastic live.
All DingoTone pedals are hand built in our factory in North America using premium parts sourced
extensively from North America and Europe. We use vintage design and manufacturing techniques
wherever possible, and we purchase vintage specification components where available.
Using an external power supply
Your
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
pedal will accept a power supply up to 24VDC. Higher supply
voltage gives more headroom before break-up. Always use a “center negative” DC supply – never use
an AC supply. It is important to note that unregulated power supplies can give much greater voltage
than the rated voltage – some 24VDC unregulated supplies can give over 35VDC when lightly loaded.
•If the power supply is regulated, name-plate ratings up to 24VDC are safe.
•If the power supply is unregulated, do not use a supply with a name-plate rating of greater than
16VDC without measuring it with a meter first.
About your pedal
•The
Limited Edition
HZD Boost pedal is proper (3PDT) True Bypass. All True Bypass
pedals may make a small noise when switched – this is normal and does not indicate a fault in the
pedal. Your DingoTone pedal has been carefully designed to minimize this.
•Inserting a lead into the input jack will turn power on. With a lead inserted the pedal will still be
using power even if the LED is off. If using a battery, please unplug the input lead when the pedal
is not in use.
•Assuming the pedal is correctly powered and a lead is plugged into the input, the pedal is in true-
bypass when the LED is off. True-bypass will work even if power is lost (the LED doesn’t work if
power is lost).
•The battery can be accessed by removing the base-plate screws. Current draw is less than 10mA
so an alkaline battery will last many hours.
•If the pedal is not used for an extended period, please remove the battery.
•Note that some unregulated external power supplies may cause hum or noise. If this happens,
please switch to a regulated supply or battery.
•When changing the battery please be careful!
Bashing your fingers on the circuit board can damage your fingers or the circuit board
assembly (not covered under warranty).
Excessive force on the battery snap can damage the snap (not covered under warranty).
Using fuzz-face and similar pedals with the
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
To work correctly, fuzz-face type pedals must be connected directly to the guitar. The
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
pedal should not be used between the guitar and a fuzz-face type pedal – nothing will
be damaged if you do, however, the touch and volume control response of the fuzz-face will be
diminished or lost. The
Limited Edition
HZD Boost
pedal can be used after the fuzz-face type
pedal to provide boost and EQ.
CAUTION
:
Exceeding 27VDC will cause the protection circuitry in the pedal to operate
and this WILL damage the power supply and/or the pedal (not covered under the warranty!)
