SAFETY
BELTS
Study
of
thousands
of
actual
injury-producing
highway
crashes,
reveals
that
in
most
cases
serious
injury
occurred
needlessly
and
could
have
been
avoided
by
the
use
of
lap
belts.
These
belts
have
been
provided
in
seats
of
the
XPLORER
224
for
your
protection.
LAP
BELTS:
The
lap
belt
should
be worn
as
low
on
the
abdomen
as
possible
and
drawn
snugly
across
the
hips.
To
reduce
the
risk
of
sliding
under
the
belt,
it
should
be
adjusted
as
tight
as
comfort
will
allow
WHILE
SITTING
WELL
BACK
AND
ERECT
IN
THE
SEAT.
To
adjust
for
size:
To
lengthen
belt
to
fit,
turn
the
buckle
perpendicular
to
the
belt
and
pull
to
desired
length.
To
shorten,
pull
loose
end
of
belt.
Slouching,
sitting
on
the
forward
edge,
or
lying
down
on
the
seat
should
be
avoided
while
wearing
a
lap
belt,
since
there
is
a
risk
of
sliding
under
the
belt
and
incurring
an
injury.
Never
use
a
lap
belt
on
more
than
one
person
at
a
time.
To
fasten:
Make
sure
the
belts
are
not
twisted.
Push
tongue
end
all
the
way
into
buckle.
Tighten
by
pulling
the
loose
end
away
from
the
buckle.
WHEN
TIGHTENING,
BE
SURE
BELT
IS
RUN
ALL
THE
WAY
OUT
OF
THE
RETRACTOR.
To
unfasten:
Depress
button
in
center
of
buckle
and
slide
tip
end
out
of
buckle.
RETRACTORS:
A
retractor
coils
the
belt
when
not
in
use
and
prevents
it
from
falling
outside
where
it
could
become
wet
or
soiled.
When
using,
be
sure
that
all
of
the
webbing
is
unwound
from
the
retractor.
To
prevent
damage
to
the
door
panel,
do
not
allow
the
belt
to
snap
into
the
storage
position.

The
locking
water
inlet
filler
is
located
on
the
right
side
of
your
XPLORER
Motor
Home.
Unlock,
then
unscrew
cap
and
fill
the tank
with
a
garden-type
hose.
NOTE:
BE
SURE
THE
DIAMETER
OF
THE
HOSE
IS
SMALLER
THAN
THE
FILLER
HOSE.
CAUTION:
Use
very
low
water
pressure
when
filling
tank.
If
too
much
pressure
is
used
it
is
possible
to
force
water
past
the
hose
connection
resulting
in
a
water
leak.
The
filler
system
on
your
XPLORER
is
NOT
designed
for
high
water
pressure.
1.
Prepare
a
chlorine
solution
using
one
gallon
of
water
and
1/4
cup
of
Chlorox
or
Purex
household
bleach
(5%
sodium
hypochlorite
solution).
Pour
one
gallon
of
solution
into
tank
for
each
15
gallons
of
tank
capacity.
2.
Complete
filling
of
tank
with
fresh
water.
Open
each
faucet
and
drain
cock
until
all
air
has
been
released
from
the
pipes
and
entire
system
is
filled.
3.
Allow
to
stand
for
three
hours.
4.
Drain
and
flush
with
potable
fresh
water.
5.
To
remove
any
excessive
chlorine
taste
or
odor
which might
remain,
prepare
a
solution
of
one
quart
rinegar
to
five
gallons
water
and
allow
this
solution
to
agitate
in
tank
for
several
days
by
vehicle
motion.
6.
Drain tank
and
again
flush
with
potable
water.

This
is
a
“demand”
type
water
pressure
system
which
is
triggered
automatically
by
the
drop
in
water
pressure
when
you open
a
faucet.
Very
convenient...because
it
is
all
automatic.
Just
open
the
tap
and
the
water
is
there
(when
pump’s
master
switch
is
in
the
“ON”
position).
CAUTION:
The
water
pump
will
not
shut
itself
off
when
the
storage
tank
is
empty.
This
will
drain
the
battery
or
damage
the
pump.
It
is
wise
to
travel
with
the
pump
master
switch
in
the
“OFF”
position,
activating
it
only
when
necessary.
REMEMBER.
•
.TURN
THE
WATER
PUMP MASTER
SWITCH
“OFF”
IF
YOU
ARE
CONHECTED
TO
CITY
WATER
HOOK-UP.
INITIAL_OPERATION
STEP
O1\IE:
Fill
tank
with
water.
STEP
TWO:
Open
all
the
faucets
hot
and
cold.
STEP
TfEE:
Switch
pump
to
“ON”
position.
Allow
time
for
the
hot water
tank
to
fill.
Shut
off
each
faucet
as
the
flow
becomes
steady
and
free
of
air.
With
the
hot
water
tank
filled
and
all
the
air
ex
pelled
from
the
system
shutting
off,
the
last
faucet
-should
cause
the
pump
to
shut
off.
IF
MOTOR
DOES
NOT
OPERATE
CHECK
FOR
THE
FOLLOWING-:
Your
Shurflo
pump
is
equipped
with
the
automatic
reset
circuit
breaker
to
protect
it
and
your
RV
electrical
system
against
over
load.
IMPORTANT:
If
your
pump
motor
stops,
please
allow
10
minutes
for
it
to
reset.
The
motor
should
then
restart
automatically
and
continue
to run
if
a
water
fixture
is
open.
If,
however,
the
motor
continues
to
stop,
requiring
another
few
minutes
to
restart
then
you
should
make
the
following
six
checks:
•
1.
Is
battery
discharged?
2.
Are
wires
di.connected
or
terminals
corroded?
3.
Is
the
switch
in
the
“ON”
position?
4.
Are
any
fuses
blown?
5.
Is
the
pump
head
jammed
by
a
foreign
object?
If
so,
reverse
electrical
leads
for
a
moment..this
may
clear
the
pump
head.
6.
Is
the
water
in
the
pump
head
frozen?
If
so,
use
an
electric
light
bulb
placed
near
the
pump
•to
provide
heat
for
thawing.
CHECK
FOR
LEAKS
We
recommend
a
positive
pressure
check
with
a
pressure
gauge.
This
will
indicate
any
leaks.
A
small
leak
may
become
a
major
leak
while
in
transit
or
in
use.
Even
a
small
leak
will
be
detected
in
a
pressure
check
as
the
pressure
will
drop
and
recycling
will
occur
(pump
com
ing
on
and
going
off
without
water
being
drawn
from
any
of
the
fixtures.

IF
PUMP
RUNS
BUT
WATER
DOES
NOT
FLOW
CCK
TI
FOLLOWING:
1.
Does
the
water
tank
have
sufficient
water?
2.
Are
there
kinks
in
the
inlet
hose
to
the
pump?
3.
Is
air
leaking
in
at
the
inlet
fittings?
If
so,
apply
or
tighten
clamps.
4.
Is
there
a
clogged
line?
5.
Are
wires
crossed
reversing
the
direôtion
of
the
pump?
IF
THE
PUMP
RUNS
BUT
THE
WATER
S
PUTTERS
Air
is
getting
into
the
lines.
Check
or
add
clamps
on
the
imput
side
of
the
pump.
Now
restart
the
pump
allowing
time
for
the
air
to
clear
from
the
lines.
If
it
is
the
hot
water
line
allow
more
time
to
clear
due
to
the
water
capacity
of
the
hot water
heater.
IF
PUMP
CYCLES
(Pump
goes
on
and
off
in
short
intervals
even
though
no
outlets
are
turned
on).
This
means
that
there
is
a
leak
in
the
water
system
somewhere.
Most
likely
the
leak
is
in
the
lines
and
there
is
nothing
wrong
with
your
pump.
Check
all
fittings
and
joints.
Correct
any
leaks
no
matter
how
small.
Check
faucets
and
especially
the
toilet
valve.
If
no
leaks
can
be
detected
shut
the
pump
off.
Remove
the
output
hose
where
it
joins
the
main
plumbing
line.
Insert
a
plug
in
the
end
of
the
output
hose
and
clamp
it.
(You
can
make
a
perfect
plug
from
a
barb
fitting
with
a
cap
screwed
on
the
threads).
Turn
the
switch
on.
The
pump
should
come
on
for
a
few
seconds
and
shut
it
self
off.
If
it
remains
off,
the
problem
is
not
in
the
pump.
It
is
in
the
system.
It
may
be
that
the
hot water
tank
is
holding
air.
As
this
air
is
absorbed
by
the water
the
pressure
goes
down
turning
the
pump
on.
Try
bleeding
the
hot
lines
again.
IF
PUMP
DOES
NOT
SHUT
OFF
If
pump
will
not
shut
off,
then
turn
wall
switch
off.
A
low
battery
charge
can
prevent
the
pump
from
shutting
off.
To
correct
this,
charge
the
battery.
If
the
energy
source
is
OK
and
there
are
no
leaks,
then
remove
the
output
hose
and
check
pump
out
as
outlined
Ira
‘
t
cycling”.
