TheU-RETRO015KNOBDELUXE,basedontheJ-RETRO01,isauniversalhighlyflexible
on-boardpreampandEQsystem.Thestandardpotshave10.0mmthreadedbushestoallow
rearmountinginthewoodofabassbody.Flatwireconnectionstothepotsallowforflexible
layout.
Itshighqualitycircuitusesthreesingleknobsandtwodualconcentricknobstacks.It
includesapassiveblendplusa3bandequaliserwithbass,variablefrequencymid,treble
andbrightfunction.Apassivetonecircuitisalsoincludedwhichoperatesinbothactiveand
passivemodes.
Thepassivetonepothasapush/pullfunctionwhichswitchesbetweenactiveandpassive
paths:

ACTIVESignalsfromthepickupspassthroughthepassiveblend,passivetone,intothepreampinput
stage.Thenthroughtheequaliserandvolumesectionwithintheactivecircuitry,andonthroughalow
impedanceoutputstagetothejack.
PASSIVESignalsfromthepickupspassthroughthepassiveblend,passivetoneandthenonthroughthe
passivevolumecontrolsectionwhichfeedsthejack.
TheVolumehastwosectionsunderthesameknob.Ahighimpedancesectionisusedforthepassivepath
andaseparateadditionalsectionisutilisedinsettingthevolumefortheactivepath.
Whenusedactive,thisknobhasactivecircuitryafteritsothatthefeedtoyouramplifierisalow
impedancedrive.A0-12dBpresetallowsgainadjustmentfortheinputstageofthepreamp.
TheBlendknob,fullyoperationalinbothactiveandpassivemodes,setsthebalancebetweenthe
pickups.Thisisaveryconventionalcontroltype,usedinmanydifferenttypesofbasses.Turnitfully
clockwisefortheneckpickupalone,andfullyanti-clockwiseforthebridgepickup.Themidwayposition,
whichhasanindent,givesanequalmixofbothpickups.
TheupperknobistheTreblecontrolwithboostandcut.Thecentral'flat'positionisindented.Thecut
settingsworkonlowerfrequenciescomparedtoboosttogiveadeepersoundwhenthetopisrolledoff.
PulltheTrebleknobfortheBrightsetting.
ThelowerouterknobistheboostonlyBasscontrol.Thefrequencybandofboostgetsprogressively
lowerastheboostisincreased.Anindentmidwayisincludedtoaidthesettingofthiscontrol.
