IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using this appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
1. Read all instructions before using.
2. Do not operate the appliance with damaged power cord or plug, after the appliance
malfunction, or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the
nearest authorized dealer or after-sales service center for examination, repair, electrical or
mechanical adjustment.
3. Do not use the appliance if the plug, the mains cord or other parts are damaged.
4. When removing the plug from wall outlet, grasp the plug to pull and not the cable.
5. Do not plug or unplug the appliance with wet hands.
6. Do not let the power cord hang over edge of table or counter or hot surface.
7. Do not expose the appliance to high temperature, nor place it on or near gas stove or
electric burner, or in a heated oven.
8. Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal and level surface.
9. Always put the inner pot in the appliance before you insert the plug into the wall outlet and
switch it on.
10.Do not place the inner pot directly over an open fire to cook rice.
11.Do not use the inner pot if it is deformed.
12.The accessible surfaces may become hot when the appliance is operating. Only contact the
control panel and lid.
13.Beware of hot steam coming out from the steam vent during cooking or when you open the
lid. Keep hands and face away from the rice cooker to avoid burns and scalding.
14.Do not lift and move the appliance while it is operating.
15.Do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot to prevent overflow.
16.Do not place the cooking utensils inside the inner pot while cooking or keeping warm.
17.Do not place any metallic objects or any other foreign material into the steam vent.
18.Make sure the heating element, the outside of the inner pot are clean and dry before you
insert the power outlet.
19.To disconnect, turn control to “KEEP WARM” then remove plug from the wall outlet.
20.Always let the appliance to cool off before starting the cleaning process.
21.Never use any accessories or parts that ELBAdoes not specifically recommended.
22.Never immerse any part of the product body in water or any other liquids nor rinse it
under the tap. Use only a moist cloth to clean the exterior product body.
23.Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
24.Close supervision is necessary when your appliance is being used near children or infirm
persons.
25.Do not operate the appliance for other than its intended use.
26.Do not use this rice cooker outdoors.
27.This appliance is for domestic use only.
28.This appliance is not intended for used by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliances by a person
responsible for their safety.

PRECAUTIONS
1. The rice cooker will not function if the inner pot is not placed in the cooker.
2. Always keep the bottom of the inner pot as well the heating plate clean and dry.
Any foreign material between these both parts will cause the rice cooker malfunction.
3. Do not attempt to adjust the push button by force if the button cannot be pressed to rice
cooking function. The switch normally remain in such position if the inner pot is not in the
cooker or after cooking is completed.
4. Place the appliance on a stable, horizontal and level surface. Do not expose the appliance
to water, high humidity or direct to heat substance.
5. Do not cover the outer lid with anything when the rice cooker is in use.
6. Do not place the inner pot directly over an open fire to cook rice.
7. Do not immerse the rice cooker in water or any other liquids. Do not splash the rice cooker
with water or pour water directly into the rice cooker. This may cause a short-circuit or
electric shock.

OPERATING THE APPLIANCE
1. Measure rice with the provided measuring cup and level it off.
Wash rice in another separate bowl until water is relatively clear.
Do not use hot water to wash rice.
2. Place washed rice into the inner pot then add water. Example: to cook 10cups of rice, add
water up to the water level indicator of “10” cups.
Do not use hot water to cook rice.
Place the inner pot on a level surface for accurate measurement.
Do not exceed the maximum water level indicated in the inner pot to prevent overflow.
3. Wipe dry the outside surface of the inner pot and place the inner pot into the rice cooker.
Ensure that the bottom of the inner pot is placed correctly on the heating plate by turning
the inner pot slightly from right to left.
Wipe off water or foreign material on the outside of the inner pot as well as inside of the
cooker body before use. A wet inner pot may cause cracking noise while cooking and
may damage the appliance!

4. Close the outer lid gently and securely until it clicks.
If the outer lid is not closed firmly, it will affect the cooking result.
5. Connect the power plug into the wall outlet and power on. Press down the push button to
cook rice. At this stage, the rice cooking indicator will light up to indicate that the cooking
process has started (If the push button is not pushed down after power on the cooker, the
keep warm indicator light will light up. This does not mean that the rice is cooking).
Do not power on the appliance until it is ready to cook. Otherwise, it may cause
malfunction of the rice cooker!
Do not operate the appliance with damaged power cord or plug, after the appliance
malfunction, or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the
nearest authorized dealer or after-sales service center for examination, repair,
electrical or mechanical adjustment.
6. When the cooking process is finished, the push button will automatically pop up and the
rice cooking indicator light will turn off and the keep warm indicator light will turn on to
indicate that keep warm function has started.
7. After the cooking cycle ends, keep the outer lid closed and allow the rice to steamfor about
15 minutes. This is to keep the rice moist and exert the fragrance of rice.After that, be sure
to open the outer lid and stir well the rice evenly. The keep warm function will continue until
the rice cooker is power off. Do not keep cooked rice warm in the rice cooker for more than
5 hours.
Stir and loosen the rice from bottom as well as side of the inner pot to the center and
surface with the rice scoop provided.
Depend to certain cooking conditions, the rice on the bottom of the inner pot may
become slightly browned or scorched.

Remember to clean the dew collector every time after cooking the rice or else if may
cause unpleasant odour. Guideline on rice cooking time:
Maximum cooking
quantity: 30 cups Minimum cooking
quantity: 10 cups

* The above times do not include the steaming time of about 15 minutes.
* The rice cooking time may vary depends on voltage, room temperature, humidity and
amount of water used.
When removing the plug from wall outlet, grasp the plug to pull and not the cable.
Note:
Unplug after use!
For safety, always unplug when not in use.

HOW TO KEEP COOKED RICE WARM AND TASTY
Washing rice
1. Bran may give an unpleasant odour to cooked rice. Wash rice thoroughly to make sure it
removes the bran.
Alkaline ionic water
1. Rice washed in water with high alkaline content may seem yellow or glutinous when cooked.
Keep warm time
1. Keeping cooked rice warm or using the keep warm function for more than 5 hours may
cause dryness, discoloration or generate unpleasant odour. The sooner cooked rice is
served, the better the rice will taste.
2. For bigger storage of the cooked rice, you may want to purchase ELBA commercial rice
warmer model, ECRW-D1324(SS).
Minimum quantity of rice to keep warm
1. When using the keep warm function, be sure at least 10 cups kept in the inner pot.
2. When keeping warm small amount of rice, make sure to stir and gather the rice adhered to
the inner pot toward the centre to prevent rice from drying.
Inner pot and inner lid
1. Be careful not to deform the inner pot and inner lid, avoid rough handling. Deforming of the
inner pot and inner lid will adversely affect the cooking and keep warm performance of the
rice cooker.
HOW TO REMOVE AND ATTACH DEW COLLECTOR
1. To remove –hold the sides and pull out slowly.
2. To attach -align and push in securely.
To prevent dry, discoloration effect and unpleasant odour of the cooked rice, stir the
cooked rice evenly and keep the outer lid perfectly closed after each time of serving.
Do not leave the rice scoop or any other objects in the inner pot during the keep warm
function.
Do not use the keep warm feature to reheat leftover cold rice.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Always remove the plug from wall outlet when not in use. Let the rice cooker to cool down
completely before cleaning.
1. Use a clean damp cloth to wipe the product body.
2. Do not use thinner, benzene, bleach, abrasive cleaning agents or sources to clean the rice
cooker body and inner pot!
3. Remove the inner pot and the inner lid from the cooker then clean them with soapy water
and rinse thoroughly. Dry with a soft cloth.
4. Do not immerse any parts of the cooker in water or any other liquids, other than the inner pot,
inner lid and dew collector.
5. Grains of rice or any other foreign material may stick to the heating plate. These must be
removed to prevent improper cooking. To remove the cooked rice on the heating plate, use
a soft cloth. Then, smooth out and lightly polish the spot with a damp cloth for good contact
between the bottom of the inner pot and the heating plate. Make sure the heating plate is
completely dry before storage or next use.
6. Improper cleaning of the rice cooker may cause unpleasant odour.
7. Any residue, seasonings, vinegar or salt may cause the coating of the inner pot to corrode.
When serving the rice, be sure to use the rice scoop provided or a plastic scoop.
Do not use metal scoop, spoon, fork, rice bowls, etc.
To wash the inner pot, do not use brushes or abrasive cleaning agents.
The non-stick coating may discolor after repeated uses, but it will not affect the cooking
results or sanitary feature.
