GENERAL
Congratulations on the purchase of your CO-STOP: The ideal protection
against carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning suitable for apartments, private
residences, chalets, hotels, stores, office buildings, and so on. This product is a
highly stable carbon monoxide detector designed for early signalling of
carbon monoxide and disconnection of the source producing the carbon
monoxide. The CO-STOP is equipped with an advanced semiconductor sensor
and MCU processor. The CO-STOP represents stable functioning, sustainability
and easy installation.
Carbon monoxide is an odourless gas which can also not be seen or tasted. It
is generated at incomplete combustion within organic driven appliances
which use for example oil, gas or wood for combustion. Carbon monoxide
sticks to red blood cells 200 times better than oxygen does, quickly resulting
into negative consequences. Below we illustrate the possible consequences of
breathing in carbon monoxide, depending on the amount taken in and
duration of exposure.
This manual contains all necessary information to easily install the CO-STOP. We
kindly urge you to read this manual carefully before installation. Keep this
manual safe and pass it on to any possible new owner of your CO-STOP.
MAKE SURE YOUR CO-STOP IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY BY A
COMPETENT PERSON AND CHECK FREQUENTLY BY USING THE
TEST BUTTON!
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION
Discarded electric devices should never be disposed of
together with regular household refuse. Always recycle
the product if possible.
Turn to your local environmental services or to the selling point for more
information on recycling. Do not throw away empty batteries, but turn them in
as being chemical waste.
WARNINGS
The CO-STOP cannot be considered as an alternative for installation and
maintenance of smoke detectors. The CO-STOP does not detect smoke or fire.
Besides carbon monoxide, the CO-STOP does not detect any poisonous gas.
The CO-STOP is designed for indoor use and in normal circumstances. It is not
designed to monitor the norm in industrial buildings. The CO-STOP is not suited
for installation in dangerous environments as defined in the national
requirements for electric equipment. Individuals with medical issues and
affections, should consider using notification devices which produce acoustic
and visual signals at a carbon monoxide concentration of less than 30 PPM.
The CO-STOP is designed to detect carbon monoxide coming from all possible
devices and machines which are defective or not working properly. Installing
the CO-STOP should never be considered as an alternative for a proper
working installation and a proper usage and maintenance of
devices/machines burning fuel or suitable ventilation and draining system(s).

INSTALLATION & OPERATION
1. Install the CO-STOP on a wall with a minimum distance of 30 cm from the
ceiling, with a maximum of 300 cm from the CO source and on a minimum
height of 150 cm. from the floor (see image 1.2 below).
Image 1.2: Installing CO-STOP
2. Firmly install the wall mount by fixing the screws (optionally in combination
with the plugs) into the wall (see image 1.3).
Image 1.3: Fixing wall mount
3. Install the CO-STOP on the wall mount.
4. All wiring should meet the local regulations. Wires should have the desired
dimensions and colours to avoid malfunction. Improper installation can lead to
a malfunction in the alarm in case of a gas leak.
5. Disconnect the boiler from the mains by unplugging the power cord.
6. Insert the plug of the boiler in the switch plug of the CO-STOP.
7. Then insert the switch plug of the CO-STOP in the socket, after which the
detector will go into the self-test status. The power indicator will light up and
the CO detector will flash red for a second accompanied by a Di-sound. The
circuit will now warm up. The CO indicator will start flashing green. After
approx. 3-5 minutes the circuit will be warmed up. The CO indicator will turn off
and the detector now works.

8. CO-test: Press the “CO test button”. An acoustic sound will be heard, the CO
indicator will flash red and the boilers’ power will be disconnected.
9. When the CO value in the air reaches or exceeds the alarm level, the CO
indicator will flash red and a sound will be heard. The CO-STOP will then also
disconnect the power of the boiler. When the CO values in the air fades to
below alarm level, the power of the boiler will be connected again.
10. When working properly, the inner circuit will clean the sensor every now
and then. During this process the CO indicator will be green. Cleaning takes
approx. 30 seconds. When completed, the CO indicator will turn off.
11. The CO-STOP automatically tests if the CO sensor is working correctly.
During a malfunction, the CO indicator will turn yellow and a long buzz will be
heard. If this is the case, switch off the power supply and restart the CO-STOP
so it can repair the malfunction during the self-test. If this does not solve the
problem, please contact your installer.
DO NOT INSTALL THE CO-STOP
Outside;
In damp or moist areas;
In areas with a lot of smoke and oil;
In or under a cabin or case;
Above a sink or cooker;
In the vicinity of air ventilation, exhaust system or ventilator;
Next to a window or door;
In areas where the air flow is obstructed by curtains or furniture for
example.
In the proximity of materials which can spread vapour or gasses such as
paint, spray cans and thinner. This can damage the reliability of the CO-
STOP.

ALARM
The CO-STOP will sound an alarm as long as the CO values in the air are at or
above alarm level. Take the following precautions in case of an alarm:
Notify everyone in the building;
Open windows and doors to ventilate the building;
Than immediately leave the building. Do not forget pets, if there are any;
Give out a warning to all relevant authorities. In case of false alarm, you
need to check the installation, location or position of the detector
thoroughly.
Caution: The CO-STOP can also sound an alarm when detecting cigarette
smoke or aerosols (sprays).
MAINTENANCE
After a while dust, dirt and/or grease can be accumulated in the convection
holes, causing the sensibility of the CO-STOP to decrease. Make sure to clean
the convection holes with a clean brush at least every 3 months. Do not use
moist and/or cleaning detergents. Always make sure to reset the detector
after cleaning.
IMPORTANT
!To ensure proper operation of the CO-STOP, it needs to be installed and
connected properly by a competent person.
!The detector does not work during power failures.
!To avoid electric shocks, the system may not be opened. It is obliged to have
an expert CO-STOP engineer repairing the system at any time. In case of
damaged electrical parts and/or wiring, immediately shut off the electricity of
the machine.
!As described in this manual, regular maintenance is required. In case of
malfunction, the CO-STOP needs to be repaired or replaced at once.
!It is obliged to test the CO-STOP regularly, but at least once each year. When
encountering defaults and/or defects, the CO-STOP needs to be repaired or
replaced immediately.
!The chances of accidents decrease when using the CO-STOP, but it can
never fully rule out any accidents from happening. For safety reasons it is
obliged to strictly follow all instructions and maintain the device regularly.
Never the less, you need to be cautious in your daily life and behave sensibly.
!Make sure rooms where carbon monoxide could develop are ventilated
sufficiently.
!Regularly maintain devices which could produce carbon monoxide. Always
follow the time period advised by the manufacturer.
!The CO-STOP reduces the possibility of accidents however can never
guarantee no accidents will happen. To be safe you should use the CO-STOP
as indicated and never forget maintenance. Nevertheless, you should stay
alert in your daily routine and always behave in a sensible manner.
