operation for the patient, user and operator. It will help to learn about all
functions of our products and also describes: assembling, care, maintenance
of overbed table and operating the adjustment mechanism. Read these
instructions carefully and follow them exactly in order to provide reliable
service and avoid damage or incorrect operation.

1.0. Product description
1.1. Purpose and range of application
RUBENS overbed tables are great addition to ELBUR nursing beds
type PB offered by our company - Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. They are intended to
alleviate and compensate injuries and disabilities for older, frail and
handicapped people. They allow patients to store their private things
on them and simplify eating meals, reading books, newspapers or using
a computer. They are easy to clean and high quality workmanship.
Our overbed tables are made of the best quality material. The surface
of steel tubes is coated with a durable polyester powder layer and furniture
board is finished with PVC veneer. They stand on four castors –two of them
can be locked. RUBENS 3 has got different height adjustment and swivel
system than RUBENS 9, what is described in chapter 6.0. Also, RUBENS 9
can be located on both sides of the nursing bed, due to its construction,
without loss of functionality, when RUBENS 3 is designed to stand only on
the one side of the nursing bed –it has to be specified when placing an order.
Our products meet the varying needs of patients and professional
caregivers. In order to meet customer expectations we care about attractive
design, as well as matching furniture systems in every place of use. That
is why we offer our customers wide choice of decors, although our standard
is dark beech décor.
RUBENS overbed tables described in this document compliant with
the requirement of the EEC Directive on medical devices 93/42/EEC dated
14 June 1993 with subsequent amendments.

2.2. Potential risks and warning messages
Warnings
Use the overbed table in accordance to normal operating procedure
and its purpose.
Before start using the overbed table, read instruction carefully
and familiarize with rated values provided at name plates, labels
and in this manual. It helps to prevent any damage and risk occurring
due to incorrect operation.
Keep the instruction manual for future reference and have access to it at
any time –it provides information for operator and patient regarding the
convenient handling and safe operation.
Safe working load of the overbed table tray cannot be exceeded. Do not
lean on the table –it can cause damage of adjustment mechanism and
lead to serious injuries!
Before every use make sure that the overbed table is in proper
and faultless condition.
Only use technically perfect overbed table.
Contact manufacturer or distributor if the exchange or repair of faulty
parts have to be made.
If damage or malfunction is suspected, take the overbed table out
of service immediately and label it as non-conforming product.
Use only original Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. accessories –modification of
overbed tables is strictly forbidden without authorization of our company.
Make sure that other attached equipment can work in a secure and safe
manner (do not hesitate to contact manufacturer with questions).
Make sure that castors have their brakes applied when location of
overbed table is not going to change.
Close tray down before relocating the overbed table. Do not load overbed
table tray during pushing it closer to the nursing bed.
Before adjusting the height of overbed table tray, make sure there are
not any obstacles, such as furniture, window sill etc.
Make sure that no cable from electric devices is rolled over during
relocating overbed table.
Make sure that no cable from electric devices is damaged, stretched
or crushed between overbed table parts.
Do not clean overbed tables with a water jet or a high-pressure cleaner.
Clean only with a moist towel.
Never use scouring agents, abrasive cleaning agents, stainless steel
cleaners or scouring pads, because they can damage the surface.
Remove quickly stains, liquid from shelf or top of the overbed table –
otherwise it can cause dampness of particle board.
Read instruction carefully before commencing assembly.

Verify the shipment contents with your order before commencing
assembly to make sure that you have got all necessary parts
and components.
Remember to use proper tools during assembly.
It is obligated with every maintenance to perform regular inspections, to
ensure the safe condition of the overbed table.
The safety information indicated above and found in this instruction
manual must always be strictly observed.
3.0. Scope of delivery
Before commencing assembly of the overbed table, please read
instruction carefully and verify the shipment contents with your order. Please
contact your distributor or Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. customer service, if you miss
any component or get something in bad condition
If you place an order for RUBENS 3 you do not to have to assembly overbed
table, because it is done by manufacturer. That is why you should bring out
of the box completely assembled RUBENS 3 overbed table.
If you place an order for RUBENS 9 you should expect to receive (numbers
in brackets referred to the picture on next page):
•4 allen screws M8 x 30 (no. 1),
•1 vertical bar (no.2),
•1 bottom frame with 4 castors - 2 of them can be locked (no. 3),
•1 movable support bar with adjustable tray (no.4),
•1 flat spacer (no. 5),
•1 permanent part of the desktop with fixed angle (no. 6)
•1 allen key.
4.0. Spare parts
Spare parts can be ordered from distributor or Elbur company.
For reasons of safety, it is allowed to use only original spare parts
or accessories from Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. Otherwise, our company will
assume no liability for any accidents, damages, injuries and risks that come
about through the use of other spare parts or accessories.
5.0. Assembly of RUBENS 9
Before commencing assembly of the overbed table, please read carefully
instruction manual and verify the shipment contents with your order (chapter
3.0). Please contact your distributor or Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. customer
service, if you miss any items or get something in bad condition.
Warnings
In order to avoid wrong assembly, read carefully instruction manual
and pay attention to labelling on the overbed table. Remember also
to use proper tools.

Notes
There must be enough space available for adjusting the overbed table
tray, its position and height,
RUBENS 9 can be located on both sides of the nursing bed, due to its
construction, without loss of functionality.
Assembly of RUBENS 9 should be performed in the following order
(numbers in brackets referred to the picture attached above):
1) carefully bring all components out of the box,
2) put bottom frame on four castors (3) on flat, horizontal surface,
3) push the castor lever down as far as it goes for the purpose of activating
the brake (during the use for the purpose of deactivating the brake push the
foot lever toward as far as it goes),
4) connect bottom frame (3) with vertical bar (2) using two allen screws (1),
5) put movable support (5) into vertical bar (2),
6) attach permanent part of the desktop to movable support bar and connect
it with fixed angle using two allen screws and flat spacer (1), which should
go between movable support bar and angle,
7) read carefully subclause 6.2 to understand how to adjust height
of the overbed table.

6.0. Using RUBENS overbed tables
Warnings
Do not put your fingers between moving parts –it can caused their
entrapment and inuries!
Do not load overbed table tray before locking it in the proper position
and during pushing it closer to the nursing bed.
Do not put any drinks or meals on overbed table tray when it is swiveled.
Safe working load of the overbed table tray cannot be exceeded. Do not
lean on the table –it can cause damage of adjustment mechanism and
lead to serious injuries!
6.1. Height adjustment and swiveling of the
overbed table tray –RUBENS 3
Warning
Before adjusting the height of overbed table tray, make sure there are
not any obstacles, such as furniture, window sill etc.
The biggest advantage of the
RUBENS 3 is that there is easy
possibility to adjust height and angle
level of overbed table tray.
Press a black releasing button (7),
then pull up or press down overbed table
tray to adjust height in demanded range
(release black button when the height is
good enough for patient). The
adjustment range is between 72,0
and 106,5 cm (8).
There is adjusting ratchet (9), which
allows to swivel overbed table tray
and lock it into angle position.
In order to raise a tray, pull it up and
make sure it clicks into required position
before you let it go. There are 5
positions available to achieve for
RUBENS 3 overbed table tray and the
swivel range is between 0° to 52,5°.
In order to lower a tray it is necessary
to lift it up all the way to the stopping
point, then it can be slowly dropped.

6.2. Height adjustment and swiveling of the
overbed table tray –RUBENS 9
The biggest advantage of the RUBENS 9 is
that there is possibility to adjust height and
angle level of overbed table tray. Also,
RUBENS 9 can be located on both sides of the
nursing bed, due to its construction, without
loss of functionality.
Unscrew the wing nut (10), pull the pin
retainer (11) and movable support up or press
it down to adjust height in demanded range
(there are 5 positions where the trig can stop
and click). Release the pin retainer in the
proper position and screw the wing nut back,
when the height is good enough for patient. The adjustment range is
between 80,0 and 113,5 cm (13).
Pull the first pin retainer from the tray (12) and swivel the overbed table
tray –it clicks into required position after releasing that blockade.
There are 6 positions available to achieve for RUBENS 9 overbed table
tray and the swivel range is between 0° to 45°.
7.0. Maintenance
Note
Do not clean overbed tables with a water jet or a high-pressure cleaner.
Clean only with a moist towel.
Never use scouring agents, abrasive cleaning agents, stainless steel
cleaners or scouring pads, because they can damage the surface.
Remove quickly stains, liquid from the overbed table tray –otherwise it
can cause dampness of particle board.
7.1. Disinfecting
All mild, not aggressive disinfectants set out in EN 12720+A1 can be
wiped on the overbed tables to clean them. They must be cleaned and
washed down with disinfectant in case of a patient change or in other
situation required it.
7.2. Cleaning and care
All components of the overbed table are made from the best quality
material. The surface of steel tubes is coated with a durable polyester powder
layer. All wooden or wood-based parts are protected with non-hazardous
varnish. The overbed table components can be easily cleaned and maintained
according to the effective hygienic rules in specific areas by disinfecting

wiping. Adhering to the described on next page rules of the furniture
maintenance ensures its long life and keeps its nice appearance.

9.0. Transport and storage
All ordered overbed tables are packed in boxes and placed on the
transport palette, which can be relocated by the hand pallet truck or the
forklift. Reliable package protects overbed tables from external damages and
ensures that patient or user get a overbed table in the perfect condition.
Technical specifications (subclause 1.2.) contain guidance of operating
and storage conditions for Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. furniture.

Overbed tables shall be protected from destruction under external
influences before re-storage.
Disassembly shall be performed in the opposite directions to steps
specified in paragraph 5.0 –Assembly.
10.0. Disposal
Overbed tables are made of metal, wooden and plastic components.
If they must be scrapped, the plastic and metal parts shall be recycled
according to legal regulations. If in doubt, please contact your nearest
disposal facility, local community, distributor or Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k.
customer service.
11.0. Warranty
The manufacturer gives a guarantee of 24 months for a perfect
functioning overbed tables

1.0. Produktbeschreibung
1.1. Verwendungszweck und Einsatzbereich
RUBENS Bett-Tische sind als Zubehör zum Pflegebett verwendbar. Sie
sorgen für eine komfortable Nutzung und verbessern Arbeitsbedingungen
für das Pflegepersonal bei notwendiger Pflege von Kranken, gebrechlichen
Menschen.
Sie ermöglichen den Patienten, die Mahlzeiten zu essen, Bücher,
Zeitungen zu lesen oder Computer zu benutzen. Die Bett-Tische sind
benutzerfreundlich und leicht zu reinigen.
Unsere Bett-Tische sind aus Material der besten Qualität gefertigt. Die
Oberflächevon Stahlrohren ist mit einer dauerhaften Polyester-
Pulverschicht beschichtet und Möbelplatte ist mit PVC-Furnier versehen.
Die stehen auf vier Rädern - zwei davon können gesperrt werden.
RUBENS 3 und 9 haben unterschiedliche Verstellungssysteme, was in
Kapitel 6.0 beschrieben ist.
RUBENS 9 aufgrund seiner Konstruktion kann ohne Verlust der
Funktionalität auf beiden Seiten des Pflegebettes benutzt werden, wenn
RUBENS 3 soll nur auf der rechten Seite des Pflegebettes stehen.

Verwenden Sie den Bett-Tisch nach den normalen Gebrauchsverfahren
und gemäß seiner Bestimmung.
Vor der Inbetriebnahme des Tisches lesen Sie die Anweisungen sorgfäl-
tig durch und machen Sie sich mit Nennwerten auf den Typenschilder,
Etiketten und mit dieser Gebrauchsanweisung vertraut. Es hilft jegliche
Schäden und das Risikoauftritt aufgrund Fehlbedienung zu verhindern.
Vergessen Sie nicht diese Gebrauchsanweisung fur die Zukunft zu
behalten und halten Sie sie jederzeit griffbereit.
Sichere Arbeitslast darf nicht überschritten werden. Nicht auf die Tisch-
platte aufstützenes kann zu Schaden von Verstellmechanismus und
auch zu ernsthaften Verletzungen führen!
Vor jedem Gebrauch sicherstellen, daß der Bett-Tisch in einwandfreiem
Zustand ist.
Benutzen Sie nur technisch perfekten Bett-Tisch.

Wenn eine Beschädigung oder Fehlfunktion vermutet wird, nehmen Sie
den Tisch sofort außer Betrieb, und beschriften Sie ihn entsprechend.
Verwenden Sie nur Original Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. Zubehör –Modifikation
von RUBENS-Tischen ist ohne Genehmigung unseres Unternehmens
verboten.
Stellen Sie sicher, daß andere angeschlossene Geräte auf zuverlässige
und sichere Art und Weise funktionieren können (bei Fragen bitte den
Hersteller kontaktieren).
Stellen Sie sicher, daß alle Rollen haben ihre Bremsen angezogen,
wenn Standort des Bett-Tisches nicht verändert werden soll.
Beim Schieben auf andere Stelle schließen Sie Tablett. Legen Sie keine
Gegenstände auf dem Tablett während sie den Tisch näher an das Pfle-
gebett schieben.
Vor dem Einstellen der Höhe des Tisches, stellen Sie sicher, daß es keine
Hindernisse, wie Möbel, Fensterbank usw. gibt.
Stellen Sie sicher, daß kein Kabel von elektrischen Geräten während
Verlagerung des Tisches überrollt wird.
Achten Sie darauf, daß kein Kabel von elektrischen Geräten zwischen
Tisch-Teilen beschädigt, gedehntoder geknickt wird.
Reinigen Sie die Tische nicht mit einem Wasserstrahl oder mit einem
Hochdruckreiniger. Reinigen Sie es nur mit einem feuchten Tuch.
Niemals scheuernde, ätzende Reinigungsmittel verwenden, da sie die
Oberfläche beschädigen können.
Entfernen Sie umgehend Flecken und ausgeschüttete Flüssigkeit von
der Ablagesonst kann die Feuchtigkeit die Beschädigung von
Möbelplatten verursachen.

Lesen Sie die Gebrauchanweisung sorgfältig bevor Sie mit dem Zusam-
menbau beginnen.
Überprüfen Sie den Inhalt der Lieferung und Ihre Bestellung vor dem
Beginn der Montage, um sicherzustellen, daß Sie alle notwendigen
Teile und Komponenten erhalten haben.
Denken Sie daran, die geeigneten Werkzeuge zu verwenden.
Nur Fachkräften ist erlaubt den Austausch einzelner Komponenten
oder- Fehlerbehebung durchzuführen.
Inspektion muß mindestens einmal im Jahr und vor jedem Wiederge-
brauch am neuen Einsatzort stattfinden. Die anschließende technische
Sicherheitsüberprüfung muß dokumentiert werden.
Es besteht eine Pflicht, bei jeder Wartung ordnungsgemäße Inspektion
durchzuführen, um den sicheren Zustand des Tisches zu
gewährleisten.
Die oben vorgegebene und in dieser Betriebsanleitung
vorgefundene Sicherheitshinweise müssen immer strikt
eingehalten werden.
3.0. Lieferumfang
Vor Beginn der Montage des Pflegebettes, lesen Sie bitte diese
Anweisungsorgfältig und vergleichen Sie den Lieferungsinhalt mit Ihrer
Bestellung. Bitte kontaktieren Sie Ihren Händler oder
Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. Kundendienst, wenn Sie eine Komponente
vermissen oder sich etwasin einem schlechten Zustand befindet.
Bei Bestellung des RUBENS 3 bekommen Sie einen komplett
montierten Tisch. Entnehmen Sie einfach den RUBENS 3 Bett-Tisch
aus der Verpackung.
Bei Bestellung des RUBENS 9 bekommen Sie folgende Teile (Zahlenin
Klammern –Bild auf der nächsten Seite):
• 4 Inbusschrauben M8 x 30 ( 1),
• 1 vertikales Trägerprofil (2),
• 1 Bodengestell mit 4 Rollen - 2 davon können verriegelt werden (3),
• 1 bewegliche Stützstange mit verstellbarem Tablett (4),
• 1 flacher Abstandhalter (5),
• 1 fester Bestandteil des Tabletts mit festen Winkel (6),
• 1 Inbusschlüssel.
4.0. Ersatzteile
Ersatzteile können beim Händler oder bei der Firma Elbur bestellt wer-
den. Aus Gründen der Sicherheit ist es erlaubt, nur Original-Ersatzteile
oder Zubehör von Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. zu verwenden. Andernfalls wird
unsere Firma keine Haftung für Unfälle, Schäden, Verletzungen und
andere Risiken übernehmen, die etwa durch die Verwendung von anderen
Ersatzteilen oder Zubehör auftreten.

5.0. Montage –RUBENS 9
Vor Beginn der Montage des Bett-Tisches, lesen Sie bitte diese Anwei-
sungsorgfältig und vergleichen Sie den Lieferungsinhalt mit Ihrer
Bestellung (P.3.0). Bitte kontaktieren Sie Ihren Händler oder
Elbur sp. z o.o. sp.k. Kundendienst, wenn Sie eine Komponente vermissen
oder sich etwas in einem schlechten Zustand befindet.
Warnungen
Um falsche Montage zu vermeiden, lesen Sie sorgfältig die Gebrauchsan-
weisung und Markierungen auf dem Schrank. Denken Sie daran, auch
die richtigen Werkzeuge zu verwenden.
Nur Personen mit entsprechenden Fachwissen dürfen die Montage
durchführen.
Hinweise
Es muß genügend Platz zur Einstellung des Tabletts vorhanden sein – in
Bezug auf Höhe- und Winkelverstellung des Tabletts.
RUBENS 9 aufgrund seiner Konstruktion kann ohne Verlust der
Funktionalität auf beiden Seiten des Pflegebettes benutzt werden.
