It is most important that this instruction book should be retained with the appliance or uture
re erence. Should the appliance be sold or trans erred to another owner, or should you move house and
leave the appliance, always ensure that the book is le t with the appliance in order that the new owner
can get to know the unctioning o the appliance and the relevant sa ety in ormation.

or using the appliance.
Installation
• This appliance is heavy. Care should be taken when
movin it.
• It is dan erous to alter the specifications or attempt
to modify this product in any way.
• Care must be taken to ensure that the appliance
does not stand on the electrical supply cable.
Important: if the supply cable is dama ed, it must
be replaced by a special cable available from the
manufacturer or its service a ent.
• Any electrical work required to install this appliance
should be carried out by a qualified electrician or
competent person.
• Parts which heat up should not be exposed.
Whenever possible, the back of the appliance
should be close to a wall but leavin the required
distance for ventilation as stated in the installation
instructions.
• The appliance should be left for 2 hours after
installation before it is turned on, in order to allow
the refri erant to settle.
Child Sa ety
• Do not allow children to tamper with the controls or
play with the product.
• Keep all packa in well away from children.
General Sa ety
•Take utmost care when handling your appliance
so as not to cause any damages to the cooling
unit with consequent possible luid leakages.
•The appliance must not be located close to
radiators or boilers.
•Avoid prolonged exposure o the appliance to
direct sunlight.
•Do not use other electrical appliances (such as
ice cream makers) inside o re rigerating
appliances, unless they are approved or this
purpose by the manu acturer.
During Use
• This appliance is desi ned for domestic use only,
specifically for the stora e of edible foodstuffs only.
• Frozen food must NOT be re-frozen once it has
thawed out.
• Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the
freezer.
• Do not remove items from the freezer if your
hands are damp/wet, as this could cause skin
abrasions or frost/freezer burns.
• Ice lollies can cause ‘frost/freezer burns’ if
consumed strai ht from the freezer.
• Manufacturers’ stora e recommendations should
be strictly adhered to. Refer to relevant
instructions.
• The coolin plate or refri erated freezer shelves
in this appliance contain channels throu h which
the refri erant passes. If these are punctured this
will cause substantial dama e to the appliance
and result in food loss. DO NOT USE SHARP
INSTRUMENTS to scrape off frost or ice. Under
NO circumstances should solid ice be forced off
the linin or shelves. Solid ice should be allowed
to thaw, when defrostin the appliance. See
Defrost Instructions.
Maintenance and Cleaning
• Switch off and unplu the appliance before
carryin out any cleanin or maintenance work.
Servicing
• This product should be serviced by an authorised
en ineer and only enuine spare parts should be
used.
• Under no circumstances should you attempt to
repair the machine yourself. Repairs carried out
by inexperienced persons may cause injury or
serious malfunctionin . Refer to your local
Electrolux Service Force Centre and always insist
on enuine spare parts.

• When disposin of your appliance, use an
authorised disposal site.
• Remove the plu and ensure that any locks or
catches are removed, to prevent youn children
bein trapped inside.

OPERATION
Be ore using
Remove all securin tapes. Wash inside the
appliance with lukewarm water and bicarbonate of
soda (5 ml to 0.5 litre of water).
Do not use soap or detergent as the smell may
linger. Dry thoroughly.
Setting the temperature
The temperature inside the refri erator is re ulated
by a thermostat with 6 temperature positions and an
“OFF” (O) position.
Position 1 = minimum coldness
Position 6 = maximum coldness
Turn the thermostat dial to the required position.
The intermediate position is usually the most
suitable (3-4).
The thermostat settin can vary as the temperature
inside the refri eration compartment depends on the
followin factors:
– room temperature
– how often the door is opened
– how much food is stored
– position of the appliance
Important
Durin prolon ed periods of abnormally hot weather,
if the thermostat is set on too hi h a number, the
coolin system may operate continuously and the
frid e coolin plate may not defrost. Turnin the knob
to a lower number will cause the automatic
defrostin to resume.
Low Room Temperature Switch
To ensure that the appliance is workin efficiently
when the room temperature drops below 16°C, the
switch mounted next to the thermostat control should
be switched on.
No dama e can be caused by leavin the switch in
this position for any period of time (see pa e 10 Low
room temperature operation). However should the
temperature rise above 16°C remember to turn the
switch off a ain.
The reezer compartment
The four-star freezer compartment is suitable for
stora e of commercially frozen food and for freezin
fresh foods.
Freezing resh ood
When freezin lar e amounts of fresh food turn the
thermostat control knob to maximum approximately
1 hour prior to freezin .
When the food is frozen return to the normal
position.
In any 24 hours you can freeze up to 9 k . of fresh
food.
Place food to be frozen in the upper drawer of the
freezer as this is the coldest part.
If lar e quantities of food are to be stored, remove all
drawers and baskets from the appliance and place
food on coolin shelves. Pay careful attention not to
exceed load limit stated on the side of the
upper section.
Important
In the event of a power cut the food in the freezer will
not be affected if the power cut is short and if the
freezer is full. Do not open the door. Should the food
be in to thaw, it must be consumed quickly and must
not be re-frozen .

Normal Operating Sounds
• You may hear faint ur lin or bubblin sounds
when the refri erant is pumped throu h the coils
or tubin at the rear, to the coolin
plate/evaporator or to the fixed freezer shelves.
• When the compressor is on, the refri erant is
bein pumped round, and you will hear a whirrin
sound or pulsatin noise from the compressor.
• A thermostat controls the compressor, and you
will hear a faint ’click’ when the thermostat cuts in
and out.
Making ice cubes
The appliance is provided with one or more trays for
ice-cubes trays.
Fill the tray(s) 3/4 full to ive the ice space to expand
and place them in the freezer compartment.
To release the ice cubes simply ive the tray a sli ht
twist.
Do not use sharp or metallic instruments to remove
the trays from the freezer.
Fresh ood re rigeration
To obtain the best performance, do not store warm
food or evaporatin liquids in the refri erator; do
cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a stron
flavour.
Do not cover the shelves with any protective
material, such as paper, cardboard or plastic, which
may obstruct the air circulation throu h them.
To help you use your refri erator correctly, here are
some more useful hints:
Raw meat (beef, pork, lamb & poultry or chicken):
wrap in polythene ba s and place on top of the salad
crispers.
Meat can only be stored sa ely in this way or
one or two days at the most.
Fruit & ve etables: these should be thorou hly
cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crispers.
Butter & cheese: these should be placed in special
airti ht containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or
polythene ba s to exclude as much air as possible.
Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be
stored in the bottle rack on the door.
Thawing
Frozen food, prior to bein used, can be thawed in
the frid e or at room temperature dependin on the
time available. Small food items may even be cooked
from frozen; in this case cookin will take lon er.
Any frozen food which is allowed to thaw accidentally
should either be eaten as soon as possible or thrown
away. Alternatively, if the food is uncooked and has
not been completely defrosted it can be cooked and
then refrozen.
Meat, fish and fruit should be thawed in the
refri erator compartment and small pieces of meat
can even be cooked while still frozen, but you must
ensure that it is thorou hly cooked throu h.
Ve etables should be directly immersed in boilin
water; ready-cooked dishes can be placed directly in
the oven in their aluminium wrappin .
A microwave oven is particularly suitable for thawin
any type of frozen or deep-frozen food: follow the
oven instructions, particularly re ardin the
placement of aluminium wrappin or containers in
the oven.
De rosted cooked ood must never be re rozen.
Frozen ood storage
When you first start the freezer or if the freezer has
been out of use for some time, we advise you to
depress the ambient switch for at least two hours
before storin frozen food.
Do not exceed the stora e period indicated by the
manufacturer.
Finally, do not open the door frequently or leave it
open lon er than is absolutely necessary.
Warning
Do not put carbonated liquids, (fizzy drinks etc.), in
the freezer compartment.
Ice lollies, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezer, can cause low temperature skin
burns.
Do not remove items from the freezer if your hands
are damp/wet, as this could cause skin abrasions or
“frost/freezer burns”.

Door reversal directions
1. Disconnect from the electricity supply.
2. Remove all loose items, includin food, store food
in a cool place.
3. Gently lay the frid e/freezer on its back with the
top held away from the floor by 5-8 cm (2-3
inches) of packin ;
4. Remove the feet (2-3)
5. Remove bottom hin e (1).
6. Remove the freezer door by releasin it from the
middle hin e (H).
7. Unscrew the middle hin e.
8. Slide out the frid e door from pin (G), unscrew
the latter and then screw it down into the hin e
hole provided on the opposite side, after havin
removed the small plu s (I) which should then be
fitted on the opposite side.
9. Refit the frid e door and replace the middle hin e
to the left hand side.
10.Replace the door and bottom hin e (1) on the
opposite side.
11.Refit the feet (2-3) on the opposite side.
12.Unscrew the handles. Refit them on the opposite
side after havin pierced the plu s with a punch.
Cover the holes left open with the plu s
contained in the documentation pack.
Attention
After completion of the door reversin operation,
check that the door asket adheres to the cabinet. If
the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the
asket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that
case, wait for the natural fittin of the asket or
accelerate this process by heatin up the part
involved with a normal hairdryer on a low settin .

Movable shelves
The walls of the refri erator have runners so that
shelves can be positioned as desired.
The door shelves can be easily removed for
cleanin . Gently ease the shelf in the directions
shown.
Adjustment of the door shelves can be made to
accommodate varyin hei hts of bottles and other
containers. Store li ht items such as small cartons
and jars on the door shelves.

Electrical connections
Any electrical work required to install this appliance
should be carried out by a qualified electrician or
competent person.
WARNING: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE
EARTHED.
The manu acturer declines any liability should
this sa ety measure not be observed.
If the plu that is fitted to your appliance is not
suitable for your socket outlet, it must be cut off and
the appropriate plu fitted.
Remove the fuse from the cut off plu .
The cut off plu should then be disposed of to
prevent the hazard of shocks in case it should be
plu ed into a 13amp socket in another part of your
home.
Important
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the followin code:
Green and Yellow - Earth
Blue - Neutral
Brown - Live
If you fit your own plu , the colours of the wires in
the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond
with the markin s identifyin the terminals in your
plu , proceed as follows:
Connect the Green and Yellow (earth) wire to the
terminal in the plu which is marked with the letter
«E» or the earth symbol or coloured reen and
yellow.
Connect the blue (neutral) wire to the terminal in the
plu which is marked with the letter «N» or coloured
black.
Connect the brown (live) wire to the terminal in the
plu which is marked with the letter «L» or coloured
red.
The plu moulded onto the lead incorporates a fuse.

For replacement, use a 13amp BSI362 fuse. Only
ASTA or BSI approved fuses should be used.
The plu must not be used if the fuse cover/carrier is
lost. The cover/carrier is indicated by the coloured
insert at the base of the plu .
A replacement cover/carrier must be obtained from
your local Service Force Centre.
This appliance complies with the E.E.C. Directive
No. 87/308 o 2.6.87 relative to radio inter erence
suppression.
This appliance complies with the followin

- 73/23 EEC o 19.2.73 (Low Volta e Directive)
and subsequent modifications;

Please ensure that when the appliance is
installed it is easily accessible or the engineer in
the event o a breakdown.

• Keep the time between buyin chilled food and
placin it in your frid e as short as possible. Tests
showed that the temperature of 1 litre of oran e
juice rose to 22°C in an hour between the
supermarket and home. It then took 11 hours to
et down to 7°C in the refri erator.
• Keep the refri erator door closed as much as
possible.
• Do not push food to ether too much, try to allow
air to circulate around each item.
• Cool cooked food as quickly as possible but do
NOT place in the refri erator until cool. (Leave
food in a place as cool as possible in order that it
can then be placed in the refri erator as soon as
possible).
• Do NOT mix raw and cooked meat, they must be
in separate containers. Take care not to let the
meat juices drip onto other food. If the meat does
drip, remove everythin and clean thorou hly.
• Do not store food uncovered.
• The best way to defrost food is to put it in the
refri erator to thaw slowly.
• Remove suspect food from your refri erator and
clean (refer to “Maintenance and Cleanin ).
• Never allow spilla es to dry and harden.
• Ensure that food placed in the freezer is dated
and labelled and used in date order to ensure
that food is consumed at its best.
• It is important that food is used before its “best
before” date.
• Store e s in the e rack provided in the
refri erator door. Discard any broken or chipped
e s.
• Re ularly check the refri erator door seal to
ensure that it is clean and free from debris.
• Always wash your hands with soapy water and
dry them with a clean towel before handlin food.
• Keep work surfaces clean and avoid cross
contamination by not usin the same work
surface or knife, without washin them thorou hly
in between.
• The fresh foods to be frozen must be fresh and of
the best quality.
• The size of each pack should be small enou h to
ensure that it is used in one o . Small packs
freeze more quickly and uniformly and ive better
results.
• Frozen food, once thawed, must not be refrozen.
Lean food keeps better and lon er than fatty food,
salt reduces the stora e time.
• Wrap the food in polythene or aluminium freezin
ba s or foil so that they adhere to the food and
provide an airti ht seal .
• Packa in which is swollen or has traces of
refrozen water droplets on the pack could indicate
that the product has not been kept at a suitable
temperature and that it may have lost its ori inal
quality. Partially thawed food must not be
refrozen, it must be consumed within 24 hours.
Never exceed the stora e times indicated.
• Never place hot food, bottles or cans of fizzy drink
in the freezer as they may explode. Containers
with a lid must not be filled to the brim.
• Do not open the door or place extra fresh food in
the freezer next to food which is already frozen as
this could cause the temperature of the frozen
food to rise and its quality and stora e life to
reduce .
• The symbols on the drawers show different types
of frozen oods.
The numbers indicate stora e times in months for
the appropriate types of frozen oods. Whether
the upper or lower value of the indicated stora e
time is valid depends on the quality of the foods
and pre-treatin before freezin .
HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES
Because o consumer demand, preservatives have been removed rom many pre-prepared oods.This
together with the changes in shopping habits to a once-a-week shop, mean that sa e handling and
storage o ood is even more important than ever.
The ollowing tips should help you to ensure that the ood in your home is in as per ect condition as
possible.

INSTALLATION
Positioning
This appliance should only be installed at a location
where the ambient temperature corresponds to the
climate classification indicated on the ratin plate,
which is located at the left on the inside of the
appliance.
The followin table shows which ambient
temperature is correct for each climate classification:
SN +10°C to + 32°C
N +16°C to + 32°C
ST +18°C to + 38°C
T +18°C to + 43°C
It should be located in a dry atmosphere, out of
direct sunli ht and away from extreme temperature
e. . not next to a boiler or radiator, or in a very cold
room e. . an outhouse, where the temperatures may
fall below 10°C (50°F). If these temperatures are
exceeded i.e. colder or warmer, then the appliance
may not operate correctly.
You should also ensure that air can circulate freely
around the back and the top of the cabinet. There
must also be at least 100 mm (4”) distance between
the top of the cabinet and any overhan in kitchen
furniture (A). Ideally, the appliance should not be
positioned beneath overhan in furniture (B).
There should also be a ap of 25 mm either side of
the appliance. Do not obstruct the space
underneath. The back of the cabinet may be placed
close to the wall but must not touch it. DO NOT
install in places with restricted ventilation.
Adjust the level of the appliance by screwin out the
adjustable foot, or feet, at the bottom of the cabinet
usin your fin ers.

Important
It must be possible to disconnect the appliance from
the mains power supply; the plu must therefore be
easily accessible after installation.
Rear spacers
The plastic ba containin all relevant
documentation also contains two spacers to be fitted
into special holes in the back of the appliance.
Fit the spacers into the holes, takin care to ensure
that the arrow (A) is positioned as shown in the
dia ram. Then turn them throu h 45° (arrow (A)
vertical) until they lock into place.

Dependin upon the position which you choose for
your appliance, you may wish to reverse the way in
which the door opens. To do this, refer to instructions
on “Door reversal directions” para raph.

De rosting
Re rigerator
The refri erator automatically defrosts every time the
compressor stops. The water is dischar ed, via the
pipe, into a tray located at the back of the appliance
above the compressor, where it evaporates.
Important
To avoid defrost water overflowin into the frid e,
periodically clean the water dischar e hole in the
centre of the V shaped drip collector at the back of
the refri erator compartment behind the fruit and
ve etable drawer. Use the defrost cleaner provided
which you will find already inserted into the
dischar e hole.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
External cleaning
Many proprietary kitchen sur ace cleaners
contain chemicals that can attack/damage the
plastics used in this appliance. For this reason it
is recommended that the outer casing o this
appliance is only cleaned with warm water with a
little washing-up liquid added.
An accumulation of dust will affect the performance
of the appliance and cause excessive electricity
consumption.
You MUST ensure that the appliance is switched
OFF.
Once or twice a year dust the condenser (black rill)
and the compressor at the back of the appliance,
with a brush or vacuum cleaner, see fi ure.

Before any maintenance or cleanin work is carried
out, DISCONNECT the appliance from the
ELECTRICITY supply.
Internal cleaning
Clean the inside and accessories with warm water
and bicarbonate of soda (5ml to 0.5 litre of water).
Rinse and dry thorou hly.
NEVER USE DETERGENTS, ABRASIVE
POWDERS, HIGHLY PERFUMED
CLEANING PRODUCTS OR WAX
POLISHES, TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR AS
THESE WILL DAMAGE THE SURFACE AND
LEAVE A STRONG ODOUR.
Changing the light bulb
Should the interior li ht fail to work, first switch off
the appliance and disconnect from the electricity
supply, then replace the bulb as follows;
Unscrew the li ht cover and then pull it outward by
pressin as shown in the fi ure. Unscrew the bulb
and replace it with a new 15 watt bulb (available from
your nearest Service Force Centre).
Replace the li ht cover by slidin it into its ori inal
position and replacin the screw.

When the appliance is not in use
When the appliance is not in use for lon periods,
disconnect from the electricity supply, empty all
foods and clean the appliance, leavin the doors ajar
to prevent unpleasant smells.

Remember to wash the defrost cleaner in hot soapy
water at re ular intervals. Dry throu hly before
replacin .
Freezer
When the frost has reached a thickness of up to
4mm it can be removed usin the ice scraper
provided with the appliance. Durin this operation it
is not necessary to disconnect the appliance from
the mains and remove the food. Never use metal
tools for this operation.
For complete defrostin (once or twice a year)
proceed as follows:
- turn the thermostat dial to the «OFF» position (O)
or disconnect the appliance from the mains.
- Remove any food from inside the freezer and
frid e, wrap it in several sheets of newspaper and
store in a cool,dry place.
- Leave the door open and insert the ice scraper
under the channel in the centre of the lower part
of the appliance; place a low-sided container
beneath the scraper to collect the water (see fi .).
- Clean and dry thorou hly.
- Replace the scraper in one of the drawers .
- Reconnect the appliance to the mains or reset
the thermostat to a functionin position.
- After lettin the appliance run for at least half an
hour, replace the food.
Important
When defrostin the freezer, the frid e is also
controlled by the thermostat and will not be
operational durin this period. A temperature rise of
the frozen food packs, durin defrostin , may
shorten their safe stora e life.
Attention!
In the event o a power ailure causing the
temperature within your reezer to rise, do not re-
reeze the ood without checking its condition.
The ollowing guidelines should assist you.
Ice-cream: once thawed should be discarded.
Fruits & Vegetables: if soft should be cooked and
used up.
Breads & Cakes: can be re-frozen without dan er.
Shell ish: should be refri erated and used up
quickly.
Cooked Dishes: i.e. casseroles should be
refri erated and used up.
Large Pieces o Meat: can be re-frozen providin
there are still ice crystals remainin within them.
Small Joints: should be cooked and can then be re-
frozen as cooked dishes.
Chicken: should also be cooked and re-frozen as a
cooked dish.

Standard guarantee conditions
We, Electrolux, undertake that if within 12 months of the date of the purchase this Electrolux appliance or any
part thereof is proved to be defective by reason only of faulty workmanship or materials, we will, at our option
repair or replace the same FREE OF CHARGE for labour, materials or carria e on condition that:
The appliance has been correctly installed and used only on the electricity supply stated on the ratin plate.
The appliance has been used for normal domestic purposes only, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
The appliance has not been serviced, maintained, repaired, taken apart or tampered with by any person not
authorised by us.
All service work under this uarantee must be undertaken by an Electrolux Service Force Centre. Any appliance
or defective part replaced shall become the Company’s property.
This uarantee is in addition to your statutory and other le al ri hts.
Home visits are made between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Visits may be available outside these
hours in which case a premium will be char ed.
Exclusions
This guarantee does not cover:
Dama e or calls resultin from transportation, improper use or ne lect, the replacement of any li ht bulbs or
removable parts of lass or plastic.
Costs incurred for calls to put ri ht an appliance which is improperly installed or calls to appliances outside the
European Community (EC) or European Free Trade Area.
Appliances found to be in use within a commercial environment, plus those which are subject to rental
a reements.
Products of Electrolux manufacture which are not marketed by Electrolux.
European Guarantee
If you should move to another country within Europe then your uarantee moves with you to your new home
subject to the followin qualifications:
The uarantee starts from the date you first purchased your product.
The uarantee is for the same period and to the same extent for labour and parts as exists in the new country of
use for this brand or ran e of products.
This uarantee relates to you and cannot be transferred to another user.
Your new home is within the European Community (EC) or European Free Trade Area.
The product is installed and used in accordance with our instructions and is only used domestically, i.e. a
normal household.
The product is installed takin into account re ulations in your new country.

correct settin relative to ambient conditions.
Check the ambient temperature is within the
appliance’s operatin limits, please refer to the
installation section in this instruction book.
Relocate the appliance if necessary.
Has door just been opened? If so leave for a few
minutes to allow the air pressure to equalise.
Adjust the thermostat control knob to ive correct
temperature control. See “Settin the temperature”.
Check that the doors are closed.
Lar e quantities of food have recently been placed in
the cabinet and/or door is frequently opened.
Check that air ventilation is not obstructed.
Ensure the doors are not left open.
Check that nothin is preventin the doors from
closin .
Is the door asket intact and clean.
Has advised periodic defrostin been carried out.
Refer to normal operatin sounds.
Check the drain hole is not blocked. (see
Maintenance and Cleanin ).

This is due to the air temperature within the refri erator compartment bein maintained at 6°C or under thus not
callin the thermostat to ener ise the compressor .
Durin a normal ni ht time period of approximately 8 hours a traditional frid e freezer can normally maintain the
frozen food temperature but if the appliance is left for lon er period in a low ambient temperature the freezer will
defrost .
If, after the above checks, there is still a fault, call your local Service Force Centre.
In- uarantee customers should ensure that the above checks have been made as the en ineer will make a
char e if the fault is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown.

Remember to wash the defrost cleaner in hot soapy
water at re ular intervals. Dry throu hly before
replacin .
Freezer
When the frost has reached a thickness of up to
4mm it can be removed usin the ice scraper
provided with the appliance. Durin this operation it
is not necessary to disconnect the appliance from
the mains and remove the food. Never use metal
tools for this operation.
For complete defrostin (once or twice a year)
proceed as follows:
- turn the thermostat dial to the «OFF» position (O)
or disconnect the appliance from the mains.
- Remove any food from inside the freezer and
frid e, wrap it in several sheets of newspaper and
store in a cool,dry place.
- Leave the door open and insert the ice scraper
under the channel in the centre of the lower part
of the appliance; place a low-sided container
beneath the scraper to collect the water (see fi .).
- Clean and dry thorou hly.
- Replace the scraper in one of the drawers .
- Reconnect the appliance to the mains or reset
the thermostat to a functionin position.
- After lettin the appliance run for at least half an
hour, replace the food.
Important
When defrostin the freezer, the frid e is also
controlled by the thermostat and will not be
operational durin this period. A temperature rise of
the frozen food packs, durin defrostin , may
shorten their safe stora e life.
Attention!
In the event o a power ailure causing the
temperature within your reezer to rise, do not re-
reeze the ood without checking its condition.
The ollowing guidelines should assist you.
Ice-cream: once thawed should be discarded.
Fruits & Vegetables: if soft should be cooked and
used up.
Breads & Cakes: can be re-frozen without dan er.
Shell ish: should be refri erated and used up
quickly.
Cooked Dishes: i.e. casseroles should be
refri erated and used up.
Large Pieces o Meat: can be re-frozen providin
there are still ice crystals remainin within them.
Small Joints: should be cooked and can then be re-
frozen as cooked dishes.
Chicken: should also be cooked and re-frozen as a
cooked dish.

Standard guarantee conditions
We, Electrolux, undertake that if within 12 months of the date of the purchase this Electrolux appliance or any
part thereof is proved to be defective by reason only of faulty workmanship or materials, we will, at our option
repair or replace the same FREE OF CHARGE for labour, materials or carria e on condition that:
The appliance has been correctly installed and used only on the electricity supply stated on the ratin plate.
The appliance has been used for normal domestic purposes only, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions.
The appliance has not been serviced, maintained, repaired, taken apart or tampered with by any person not
authorised by us.
All service work under this uarantee must be undertaken by an Electrolux Service Force Centre. Any appliance
or defective part replaced shall become the Company’s property.
This uarantee is in addition to your statutory and other le al ri hts.
Home visits are made between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Visits may be available outside these
hours in which case a premium will be char ed.
Exclusions
This guarantee does not cover:
Dama e or calls resultin from transportation, improper use or ne lect, the replacement of any li ht bulbs or
removable parts of lass or plastic.
Costs incurred for calls to put ri ht an appliance which is improperly installed or calls to appliances outside the
European Community (EC) or European Free Trade Area.
Appliances found to be in use within a commercial environment, plus those which are subject to rental
a reements.
Products of Electrolux manufacture which are not marketed by Electrolux.
European Guarantee
If you should move to another country within Europe then your uarantee moves with you to your new home
subject to the followin qualifications:
The uarantee starts from the date you first purchased your product.
The uarantee is for the same period and to the same extent for labour and parts as exists in the new country of
use for this brand or ran e of products.
This uarantee relates to you and cannot be transferred to another user.
Your new home is within the European Community (EC) or European Free Trade Area.
The product is installed and used in accordance with our instructions and is only used domestically, i.e. a
normal household.

De rosting
Re rigerator
The refri erator automatically defrosts every time the
compressor stops. The water is dischar ed, via the
pipe, into a tray located at the back of the appliance
above the compressor, where it evaporates.
Important
To avoid defrost water overflowin into the frid e,
periodically clean the water dischar e hole in the
centre of the V shaped drip collector at the back of
the refri erator compartment behind the fruit and
ve etable drawer. Use the defrost cleaner provided
which you will find already inserted into the
dischar e hole.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
External cleaning
Many proprietary kitchen sur ace cleaners
contain chemicals that can attack/damage the
plastics used in this appliance. For this reason it
is recommended that the outer casing o this
appliance is only cleaned with warm water with a
little washing-up liquid added.
An accumulation of dust will affect the performance
of the appliance and cause excessive electricity
consumption.
You MUST ensure that the appliance is switched
OFF.
Once or twice a year dust the condenser (black rill)
and the compressor at the back of the appliance,
with a brush or vacuum cleaner, see fi ure.

Before any maintenance or cleanin work is carried
out, DISCONNECT the appliance from the
ELECTRICITY supply.
Internal cleaning
Clean the inside and accessories with warm water
and bicarbonate of soda (5ml to 0.5 litre of water).
Rinse and dry thorou hly.
NEVER USE DETERGENTS, ABRASIVE
POWDERS, HIGHLY PERFUMED
CLEANING PRODUCTS OR WAX
POLISHES, TO CLEAN THE INTERIOR AS
THESE WILL DAMAGE THE SURFACE AND

Changing the light bulb
Should the interior li ht fail to work, first switch off
the appliance and disconnect from the electricity
supply, then replace the bulb as follows;
Unscrew the li ht cover and then pull it outward by
pressin as shown in the fi ure. Unscrew the bulb
and replace it with a new 15 watt bulb (available from
your nearest Service Force Centre).
Replace the li ht cover by slidin it into its ori inal
position and replacin the screw.

When the appliance is not in use
When the appliance is not in use for lon periods,
disconnect from the electricity supply, empty all
foods and clean the appliance, leavin the doors ajar
to prevent unpleasant smells.

• Keep the time between buyin chilled food and
placin it in your frid e as short as possible. Tests
showed that the temperature of 1 litre of oran e
juice rose to 22°C in an hour between the
supermarket and home. It then took 11 hours to
et down to 7°C in the refri erator.
• Keep the refri erator door closed as much as
possible.
• Do not push food to ether too much, try to allow
air to circulate around each item.
• Cool cooked food as quickly as possible but do
NOT place in the refri erator until cool. (Leave
food in a place as cool as possible in order that it
can then be placed in the refri erator as soon as
possible).
• Do NOT mix raw and cooked meat, they must be
in separate containers. Take care not to let the
meat juices drip onto other food. If the meat does
drip, remove everythin and clean thorou hly.
• Do not store food uncovered.
• The best way to defrost food is to put it in the
refri erator to thaw slowly.
• Remove suspect food from your refri erator and
clean (refer to “Maintenance and Cleanin ).
• Never allow spilla es to dry and harden.
• Ensure that food placed in the freezer is dated
and labelled and used in date order to ensure
that food is consumed at its best.
• It is important that food is used before its “best
before” date.
• Store e s in the e rack provided in the
refri erator door. Discard any broken or chipped
e s.
• Re ularly check the refri erator door seal to
ensure that it is clean and free from debris.
• Always wash your hands with soapy water and
dry them with a clean towel before handlin food.
• Keep work surfaces clean and avoid cross
contamination by not usin the same work
surface or knife, without washin them thorou hly
in between.
• The fresh foods to be frozen must be fresh and of
the best quality.
• The size of each pack should be small enou h to
ensure that it is used in one o . Small packs
freeze more quickly and uniformly and ive better
results.
• Frozen food, once thawed, must not be refrozen.
Lean food keeps better and lon er than fatty food,
salt reduces the stora e time.
• Wrap the food in polythene or aluminium freezin
ba s or foil so that they adhere to the food and
provide an airti ht seal .
• Packa in which is swollen or has traces of
refrozen water droplets on the pack could indicate
that the product has not been kept at a suitable
temperature and that it may have lost its ori inal
quality. Partially thawed food must not be
refrozen, it must be consumed within 24 hours.
Never exceed the stora e times indicated.
• Never place hot food, bottles or cans of fizzy drink
in the freezer as they may explode. Containers
with a lid must not be filled to the brim.
• Do not open the door or place extra fresh food in
the freezer next to food which is already frozen as
this could cause the temperature of the frozen
food to rise and its quality and stora e life to
reduce .
• The symbols on the drawers show different types
of frozen oods.
The numbers indicate stora e times in months for
the appropriate types of frozen oods. Whether
the upper or lower value of the indicated stora e
time is valid depends on the quality of the foods
and pre-treatin before freezin .
HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES
Because o consumer demand, preservatives have been removed rom many pre-prepared oods. This
together with the changes in shopping habits to a once-a-week shop, mean that sa e handling and
storage o ood is even more important than ever.
The ollowing tips should help you to ensure that the ood in your home is in as per ect condition as
possible.

INSTALLATION
Positioning
This appliance should only be installed at a location
where the ambient temperature corresponds to the
climate classification indicated on the ratin plate,
which is located at the left on the inside of the
appliance.
The followin table shows which ambient
temperature is correct for each climate classification:
SN +10°C to + 32°C
N +16°C to + 32°C
ST +18°C to + 38°C
T +18°C to + 43°C
It should be located in a dry atmosphere, out of
direct sunli ht and away from extreme temperature
e. . not next to a boiler or radiator, or in a very cold
room e. . an outhouse, where the temperatures may
fall below 10°C (50°F). If these temperatures are
exceeded i.e. colder or warmer, then the appliance
may not operate correctly.
You should also ensure that air can circulate freely
around the back and the top of the cabinet. There
must also be at least 100 mm (4”) distance between
the top of the cabinet and any overhan in kitchen
furniture (A). Ideally, the appliance should not be
positioned beneath overhan in furniture (B).
There should also be a ap of 25 mm either side of
the appliance. Do not obstruct the space
underneath. The back of the cabinet may be placed
close to the wall but must not touch it. DO NOT
install in places with restricted ventilation.
Adjust the level of the appliance by screwin out the
adjustable foot, or feet, at the bottom of the cabinet
usin your fin ers.

Rear spacers
The plastic ba containin all relevant
documentation also contains two spacers to be fitted
into special holes in the back of the appliance.
Fit the spacers into the holes, takin care to ensure
that the arrow (A) is positioned as shown in the
dia ram. Then turn them throu h 45° (arrow (A)
vertical) until they lock into place.

Movable shelves
The walls of the refri erator have runners so that
shelves can be positioned as desired.
The door shelves can be easily removed for
cleanin . Gently ease the shelf in the directions
shown.
Adjustment of the door shelves can be made to
accommodate varyin hei hts of bottles and other
containers. Store li ht items such as small cartons
and jars on the door shelves.

Electrical connections
Any electrical work required to install this appliance
should be carried out by a qualified electrician or
competent person.

The manu acturer declines any liability should

If the plu that is fitted to your appliance is not
suitable for your socket outlet, it must be cut off and
the appropriate plu fitted.
Remove the fuse from the cut off plu .
The cut off plu should then be disposed of to
prevent the hazard of shocks in case it should be
plu ed into a 13amp socket in another part of your
home.

The wires in the mains lead are coloured in
accordance with the followin code:

If you fit your own plu , the colours of the wires in
the mains lead of your appliance may not correspond
with the markin s identifyin the terminals in your
plu , proceed as follows:
Connect the Green and Yellow (earth) wire to the
terminal in the plu which is marked with the letter
«E» or the earth symbol or coloured reen and
yellow.
Connect the blue (neutral) wire to the terminal in the
plu which is marked with the letter «N» or coloured
black.
Connect the brown (live) wire to the terminal in the
plu which is marked with the letter «L» or coloured
red.
The plu moulded onto the lead incorporates a fuse.

Normal Operating Sounds
• You may hear faint ur lin or bubblin sounds
when the refri erant is pumped throu h the coils
or tubin at the rear, to the coolin
plate/evaporator or to the fixed freezer shelves.
• When the compressor is on, the refri erant is
bein pumped round, and you will hear a whirrin
sound or pulsatin noise from the compressor.
• A thermostat controls the compressor, and you
will hear a faint ’click’ when the thermostat cuts in
and out.
Making ice cubes
The appliance is provided with one or more trays for
ice-cubes trays.
Fill the tray(s) 3/4 full to ive the ice space to expand
and place them in the freezer compartment.
To release the ice cubes simply ive the tray a sli ht
twist.
Do not use sharp or metallic instruments to remove
the trays from the freezer.
Fresh ood re rigeration
To obtain the best performance, do not store warm
food or evaporatin liquids in the refri erator; do
cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a stron
flavour.
Do not cover the shelves with any protective
material, such as paper, cardboard or plastic, which
may obstruct the air circulation throu h them.
To help you use your refri erator correctly, here are
some more useful hints:
Raw meat (beef, pork, lamb & poultry or chicken):
wrap in polythene ba s and place on top of the salad
crispers.
Meat can only be stored sa ely in this way or
one or two days at the most.
Fruit & ve etables: these should be thorou hly
cleaned and placed in the bottom salad crispers.
Butter & cheese: these should be placed in special
airti ht containers or wrapped in aluminium foil or
polythene ba s to exclude as much air as possible.
Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should be
stored in the bottle rack on the door.
Thawing
Frozen food, prior to bein used, can be thawed in
the frid e or at room temperature dependin on the
time available. Small food items may even be cooked
from frozen; in this case cookin will take lon er.
Any frozen food which is allowed to thaw accidentally
should either be eaten as soon as possible or thrown
away. Alternatively, if the food is uncooked and has
not been completely defrosted it can be cooked and
then refrozen.
Meat, fish and fruit should be thawed in the
refri erator compartment and small pieces of meat
can even be cooked while still frozen, but you must
ensure that it is thorou hly cooked throu h.
Ve etables should be directly immersed in boilin
water; ready-cooked dishes can be placed directly in
the oven in their aluminium wrappin .
A microwave oven is particularly suitable for thawin
any type of frozen or deep-frozen food: follow the
oven instructions, particularly re ardin the
placement of aluminium wrappin or containers in
the oven.
De rosted cooked ood must never be re rozen.
Frozen ood storage
When you first start the freezer or if the freezer has
been out of use for some time, we advise you to
depress the ambient switch for at least two hours
before storin frozen food.
Do not exceed the stora e period indicated by the
manufacturer.
Finally, do not open the door frequently or leave it
open lon er than is absolutely necessary.
Warning
Do not put carbonated liquids, (fizzy drinks etc.), in
the freezer compartment.
Ice lollies, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezer, can cause low temperature skin
burns.
Do not remove items from the freezer if your hands
are damp/wet, as this could cause skin abrasions or
“frost/freezer burns”.

Door reversal directions
1. Disconnect from the electricity supply.
2. Remove all loose items, includin food, store food
in a cool place.
3. Gently lay the frid e/freezer on its back with the
top held away from the floor by 5-8 cm (2-3

4. Remove the feet (2-3)
5. Remove bottom hin e (1).
6. Remove the freezer door by releasin it from the
middle hin e (H).
7. Unscrew the middle hin e.
8. Slide out the frid e door from pin (G), unscrew
the latter and then screw it down into the hin e
hole provided on the opposite side, after havin
removed the small plu s (I) which should then be
fitted on the opposite side.
9. Refit the frid e door and replace the middle hin e
to the left hand side.
10.Replace the door and bottom hin e (1) on the
opposite side.
11.Refit the feet (2-3) on the opposite side.
12.Unscrew the handles. Refit them on the opposite
side after havin pierced the plu s with a punch.
Cover the holes left open with the plu s
contained in the documentation pack.
Attention
After completion of the door reversin operation,
check that the door asket adheres to the cabinet. If
the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the
asket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that
case, wait for the natural fittin of the asket or
accelerate this process by heatin up the part
involved with a normal hairdryer on a low settin .
