PREPARATION FOR USE
AC Plug
AC Outlet
Unpacking and Setup
Carefully remove theunit from thedisplay carton and remove all packingmaterial from the unit itself.
Remove any descriptivelabels that maybe found on either the frontor top cabinet of the unit.Do not
remove any labelslocated on either the back orbottom cabinet of the unit.
The detachableAC power cordis packed in the carton separatelyfrom the unit. Make sure that the
AC powercord is not accidentally discarded withthe carton or packing material.
CD open compartment door. Thereis a white card in the CD compartment whichis intended to
prevent the CD pickup from moving during shipment of the product. Remove this card from
the CD compartmentbefore use.
Power Sources
This portable audiosystem is designed to operate oneither AC 120V 60Hz housecurrent or 12V DC,
using 8 D batteries (UM-1), notincluded. Attemptingto operate this unit from anyother power source
may cause damageto unit, which is not coveredby your warranty.
AC Operation
Unwind theAC cord and extend it toits full length, Insert the smallend of the AC cordinto the AC socket
on the backcabinet of the unit. Insert theother and of the AC cord into any convenient AC120V 60Hz
household outlet .

Battery Operation
The battery compartmentis located on the bottom of the cabinet.
Remove the batterycompartment door by pressing downward on the two tabs as shown in Figure 1
below.
Insert 8 D size (UM-1) batteriesinto the battery compartment as shownin figure 2 below. Besure to
observe the polaritymarkings which are engraved inside the battery compartment. If the batteries are
inserted incorrectly, the unit will not operate.
Replace the batterycompartment door.
NOTE: The ACpower cord must be disconnected fromthe AC socket on theback of the unit in order
for the unitto operate on battery power.
Follow these precautionswhen using batteries in this device.
1. Use onlythe size and type of batteries specified .
2. Be sureto follow the correct polarity when installing the batteries as indicated in the battery
compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device.
3. Do notmix different types of batteries together(e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) orold batteries
with fresh ones.
4. If thedevice is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage
or injury frompossible battery leakage.
5. Do nottry to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture.
(Follow battery manufacturer s directions.)

batteries and powercords are properly installed.
* Store yourtapes and CDs in cool areato avoid damage from the heat.
NOTE: The manufacturer is not responsible for any RADIO interference
cause by unauthorized modifications to this equipment. Such
modifications could void the user’s authority to operate the
equipment.
AC POWER CONNECTION
Connect one endof the AC cord tothe AC INPUT socket (27)on the back of
the unit, thenconnect other end to the walloutlet. The unit is now ready to
operate byAC power supply.
Disconnect ACcord from wall outlet when theunit is not in use.
BATTERYINSTALLATION
1. Open thebattery compartment cover.
2. Insert 8pcs. D R20 UM-1x8 or typebatteries into battery compartment.
Be sure toinsert battery s polarity as shownin the diagram engraved on
the battery compartment.
3. Place thebattery compartment cover.
4. The unitis now ready for operation.
NOTE: The battery circuits is disconnected automatically when the AC
cord is inserted to the AC INPUT socket when operate by AC.
Remove all the batteries from battery compartment, when the
unit is longer operate by battery.
DO NOT EXPOSETHE RADIO TO DRIPPING OR SPLASHING!

AM-This unit hasa built-in ferrite rod antenna, whicheliminates the need for an
external antenna, andprovides adequate receipt in most areas.If reception is weak,
turn the unitto improve receipt.
RADIO OPERATION
ANTENNAS
FM- The telescopicantenna on the top of the unit is for FM reception only. If reception
is weak, adjustthe length and the angle ofthe antenna.
LISTENING TO RADIO STATION
1. Set FUNCTIONselector to (1) RADIO position.
2. Set BANDselector (6) to the AMor FM / FM ST. Position.
3. Tunea desired station by tuning theTUNING control(7).
4. AdjustVOLUME control (14) to suit yourpersonal listening preference.
5. To switch the radio off, setthe FUNCTION selector (1) to TAPE position.
CASSETTE TAPE OPERATION

1. Set Functionselector (1) to Tapeposition.
2. Lift upthe cassette knob, then press STOP/EJECTbutton to openthe cassette compartment.
3. Insert arecorder cassette tape in the cassettecompartment with exposed side facing up.
4. Press PLAY button to begin playback.
5. To stop the tape, press STOP/EJECTbutton.
6. To advance or rewind the tape rapidly, press the Fast Forward or Rewind
buttons. To resume normal playback press the Cassette Play button
7. To pause temporarily during playback, press the Cassette Pause button.
Press Pause againto cancel the pause mode andresume playback.
Your equipment is ableto record your desired sound sourceeither from compact disc
player or radioon a cassette tape.
1. Lift upthe cassette knob cover, thenpress STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette compartment.
2. Insert blankcassette tape in the cassette compartmentwith exposed side facing up.
3. Depress PAUSE button.
4. Depress RECORDbutton.
5. Select yourdesired program by setting FUNCTION selector(1) and play the
program.
6. To start recording, press PAUSEbutton again.
7. To stop recording, press STOP/EJECT button.
* The recordinglevel is automatically adjusted by built-in ALC circuit.
* The recordinglevel is not affected by VOLUME (14) control, soyou can listen to
the program withany volume.

This unit is capable of playing standard CDs or 3 single discs: no adapter is required.
1. Set FUNCTION selector to CD position.
2. Pull the CD door to open the CD compartment.
3. Insert a CD disc to the CD compartment.
4. Close the CD compartment. The total number of tracks will be displayed and the CD
player will stop. If a disc is inserted incorrectly, dirty, damaged or not present at all,
the CD display will show - and the CD player will stop.
5. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to begin playback.
6. Press STOP button to stop.
7. Press : REPEAT button for repeat play.
PAUSE
This disc can be paused at any time during play by pressing the PLAY/PAUSE
button once. The PAUSE indicator will flash. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button
again to continue.

. Press theSkip/Search button onceduring playback to skip to thebeginning of
the next track.Continue to press this button to skip forward to higher numbered
tracks until youreach the desired track.
. Press theSkip/Search button onceduring playback to skip to the beginning
of the currenttrack. Press twice to skip backto the beginning of the previous track.
Continue to press this button to skip backward to lower numbered tracks until
you reach thedesired track.
. Hold theSkip/search or buttons during playback to rapidly search
forward of backwardthrough the disc to locate aspecific passage within a track that
you wish tobypass or to hear again.
. High speedsearch continues as long as theSkip/Search or buttons are
depressed. Normal playbackresumes when the Skip/Search or buttons
are released.
NOTE: Tobegin playback of a disc on a specific track, wait until the player reads
the disc anddisplays the total track number,then press the Skip/Search or
buttons repeatedly untilthe desired track number is on the display. Press the
button to beginplayback on that track.
Repeat Playback
This function allows you to repeat either a single track or the entire disc continuously.
. To repeata single track - Select the track you wish to repeat and begin playback
on that track.Then press the REPEAT button once. The REPEAT indicator appears
in the displayand the selected track will berepeated continuously until you cancel
the repeat functionor press the Stop button.
.To repeatthe entire disc - Press the REPEAT button until the “ REPEAT“ and “ ALL “
indicators appear in the display, then press the button to beginplayback if
necessary. The entire disc will be repeated continuously.
Tocancel Repeat Playback press the REPEAT button until the REPEATindicator no
longer appears inthe display. Repeat can also be cancelled by pressing the Stop
button, opening the CD door,or switching the FUNCTION Selector to TAPE
(OFF).
Skip/Search or Buttons
Programmed Playback
The CD Playerin this unit has a 32track programmable memory which allows you
to program upto 32 tracks on any discfor playback in any desired order. To program
tracks for playbackthe player must be in theStop mode. If the disc is playing, press
the Stop buttonto stop playback and then proceed as follows:
STEREO HEADPHONE JACK
Connect the stereoheadphones to the 3.5mm PHONES jacklocated at left top panel
for private listening. When the headphones are connected, the sound from the
speakers will automaticallycut off. Before putting the headphones on your head,
reduce the volumeto a low level. Then putthe headphones on and gradually increase
the volume toa comfortable listening level.
(1) Press thePROGRAM button once. The PROG.
(Program) indicator beginsflashing in the display
and the 01 appears indicating that you should
select the trackthat you wish to enter intoprogram
memory number 1.
(2) Use the or buttons to select the first
track to beprogrammed. Example: Track 7. 07
indicator flashes inthe display.
(3) Press the PROGRAM button again. This will store
track 7 intoprogram memory number 1.The display
will now selectthe track to be entered intoprogram
memory 2.
(4) Repeat steps (2.) And (3.) Until you have programmed up to a maximumof 32 tracks
into the programmemory.
(5) To begin Programmed Playback press the button. The PROGIndicator stops flashing
and remains On . The player will begin to play the tracksin the order that you selected.

Dynamic Bass BoostSystem (DBBS)
This special circuitprovides bass response, especially at lower volume levels
where the basshas a tendency to disappear.Set the DBBS button to ‘ On ‘
to increase thebass. Set the DBBS button to‘ Off ‘ for normal bass response.
Note: If youhave the DBBS circuit On at high volume and you are listeningto
music that containsvery strong bass, you may experiencesome distortion. If
this occurs, reducethe volume or switch the DBBSbutton Off .

Caring for CompactDiscs
* Treatthe disc carefully. Handle thedisc only by its edges.
Never allow yourfingers to come in contact withthe shiny,
unprinted side ofthe disc.
* Do notattach adhesive tape, stickers, etc. To the disclabel.
* Clean thedisc periodically with a soft ,lint-free, dry cloth.
Never use detergentsor abrasive cleaners to clean thedisc.
If necessary,use a CD cleaning kit.
* If adisc skips or gets stuck ona section of the disc, itis probably dirty or damaged(scratched).
When cleaning thedisc, wipe in straight lines fromthe center of the center ofthe center of the disc tothe
outer edge ofthe disc. Never wipe in circularmotions.
* This unitis designed to play only compact discs bearing the identification logo as shown here.
Other discs maynot conform to the CD standardand may not play properly.
* Compact Discshould be stored in their casesafter each use to avoid damage.
* Do notexpose compact disc to direct sunlight,high humidity, high temperatures, or dust, etc. Prolonged
exposure or extremetemperatures can warp the disc.
* Do notstick or write anything on eitherside of the disc. Sharp writinginstruments, or the ink may
damage the surface.
Cleaning the unit
* To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect your unit from the AC power source when cleaning.
* The finishon your unit may be cleaned with a dust cloth and cared for as other furniture. Use caution
when cleaning andwiping the plastic parts.
* Mild soapand a damp cloth may beused on the front panel.
* Periodic cleaningof the tape heads, capstan andpinch roller is necessary to maintaingood sound
reproduction. Clean themafter every 100hours of use orless if playback has deteriorated. Usea cotton
swab moistened withhead cleaning solution or isopropyl alcohol,then wipe dry with another swab.
NOTE: Never use metalobjects on or near the tapeheads. Do not allow and cleaningmaterial to fall into
the tape assembly.
SAFEGUARD AGAINST ACCIDENTAL ERASURE
When a new recording is make, any program
material previously recorded is automatically
erased and only the new recording remains. To
safeguard valuable recordingsfrom being erased
accidentally, the cassette and the deck are
equipped with aspacial device.
On the back of the cassette there is an erase
prevention tab on each side. To prevent
accidental erasing, break out these tabs wish
a screwdriver. If only one side of the tape is to
be protected break out the tab on the left side
with the sidedesired facing you.
Torecord on a tape in which the tab has been
broken, place a place of adhesive tape over that
area.
NOTE: When a tab is broken out, the record
button cannot bedepressed.
CASSETTE TAPERECOMMENDATIONS
Standard tape lengthshave 15 (C-30),30 (C-60) and 45(C-90) minutes of recording time oneach side.
Longer length tapesof 60 (C-120) minutes of recordingtime on each side are not recommended. Use
only high qualitytapes. If a problem develops, checkthe unit first with another cassetteto determine if
the problem iswith the cassette, and not withthe unit.
If there isany stack in the tape inthe cassette, it should be removedbefore inserting the cassette. Place
a pencil inone of the hubs and rotatetoward the outside of the cassetteuntil all stack is taken up.
