and subjects accredited for maintenance
3) INSTALLATION
1) Install the re exnguisher with the appropriate bracket, with the handle at a maximum recomended height
of 110 cm.
2) When installed in a vehicle the re exnguisher must be held in a specic truck bracket.
3) Do not expose the re exnguisher to the atmospheric agents or chemicals agents.
(Note: in these cases protect the re exnguisher with a special cabinet or protecve cover.)
4) Do not expose the re exnguisher to the direct sunlight.
5) Verify that the gauge pressure indicator is inside the green area.
6) Keep children away from re exnguisher.
7) For Marine equipment or outdoor installaon we recommend use of cover or cabinet.

4) MODALITY AND PRECAUTIONS FOR THE USE

All Fire Fighng Fire Exnguishers produced by Emme Anncendio must be installed, inspected and maintained in
accordance with the following manual and with the rules in force in the country of desnaon.
All re exnguishers must be recharged aer paral use with original spare parts.
Every ordinary / extraordinary maintenance operaon must be carried out using original spare parts and compliant
with the declared cered prototype. The described below maintenance operaons must be carried out by
recognized personnel qualied by the company Emme Anncendio.
Fire exnguishers are classied into two categories that provide for specic construcon standards:
• portable re exnguishers: re exnguishers designed to be transported and operated by hand, with a mass not
exceeding 20 kg under operang condions. Reference standard: EN 3-7
• wheeled re exnguishers: wheel re exnguishers designed to be transported and operated by hand, with a mass
greater than 20 kg. Reference standards: EN 1866-1
Moreover, in relaon to the exnguishing agent contained in them, they are idened in:
• water based re exnguishers including foam exnguishers;
• powder re exnguishers;
• carbon dioxide re exnguishers;
• clean agent exnguishers
2)REFERENCE RULES
Fire Exnguishers produced by Emme Anncendio are manufactured in compliance with the following rules:
• EN 3-7: 2008 Portable re exnguishers;
• EN 1866-1: 2008 Wheeled re exnguishers;
• PED Direcve 2014/68/EU pressure equipment;
• MED Direcve 2014/90/EU devices for marine use (only for products bearing the relave MED cercaon
mark, see pag 1 of this document)

2) Do not through the re exnguisher on to the direct ames.
3) This re exnguisher is a pressurized vessel and must not be pierced, dented or subjected to external damage.
4) Do not direct the jet on the people.

5.1 12 Months Ispecon Check internal pressure using an independent tool
5.2 5 Years Maintenance
Check the uidity of exnguishing agent.
Check the thread of the valve body
and if a non-compliance is detected, replace it.
5.3 10 Years
Hydrotest
Cylinder
Check the conservaon status and perform the hydraulic test
of the cylinder with suitable tool.
Is recommended the replacement of the dispensing valve
5.4 *20 Years Is recommended the replacement of the re exnguisher
5.2) Maintenance Steps
1Remove the re exnguisher from the bracket and check the xing stability.
Check the marking label and replace it if damaged
2 Discharge the re exnguisher from exnguishing agent, comply at rules for a correct disposal
3
Remove the dispensing valve.
Check the uidity of exnguishing powder, that agglomerates are not present in the cylinder
(if powder is suitable, can be reused for recharge the re exnguisher)
4Check internally the cylinder that no shows corrosion signs.
For the nozzle, check the internal passage with compressed air
5 Recharge the re exnguisher with exnguishing agent

Valve with
brass body
Check the thread of valve body with suitable tool and if damaged replace with a new valve.
For valves without safety device, replacement is recommended in any case.
Screw the valve with a ghtening torque as shown : min. 45 Nm - max 68 Nm
7 Pressurize the re exnguisher with dehumidied air or nitrogen (15 bar at 20 °C) and check for leaks
8Reset the safety pin and secure it with safety seal, screw the nozzle
9Record the inspecon acvity on the maintenance tag and on the re protecon register
* If it located in parcular environments the ming can be reduced.
(it is recommended to reduce to 10 years)
N.B. : All the operaons must be calculated from the date of placing on the market.
For the hydraulic test refer to the date stamped on the tank.
5.1) Inspecon Steps
1Remove the re exnguisher from the bracket and check the xing stability
2Check the internal pressure with an independent tool
3 Check the safety seal and the safety pin
4 Remove the hose and check the correct internal passage with compressed air
5 Record the inspecon acvity on the maintenance tag and on the re protecon register
5) STEPS AND FREQUENCY RELATED TO MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS
(For stored pressure re exnguishers)
Note: The user have to complies to the naonal or internaonal rules, if they are more restricve of the below table

5.3) Hydraulic test step
At least every 10 years from the producon date the re exnguisher must be overhauled by a hydraulic pressure
test in accordance with the pressure values “PT” stamped on the cylinder.
1Remove the re exnguisher from the bracket and check the xing stability.
Check the marking label and replace it if damaged
2 Discharge the re exnguisher from exnguishing agent, comply at rules for a correct disposal

Remove the dispensing valve.
Check the uidity of exnguishing powder, that agglomerates are not present in the cylinder
(if powder is suitable, can be reused for recharge the re exnguisher)
4Check internally the cylinder that no shows corrosion signs.
For the hose, check the internal passage with compressed air

Hydraulic test of the cylinder with suitable tool:
maintain hydraulic pressure at "PT" for 30 seconds and proceed with depressurizaon.
Check that the cylinder does not show any deformaon, breakage or stability anomalies
6 Proceed with the cylinder drying with suitable tool
7 Recharge the re exnguisher with exnguishing agent

Valve with

Is recommended the replacement of dispensing valve.
Screw the valve with a ghtening torque as shown : min. 45 Nm - max 68 Nm
9Pressurize the re exnguisher with dehumidied air or nitrogen (15 bar at 20 °C) and check for leaks

If necessary, replace with

4 - Perform an internal check of
the cylinder with an inspecon
lamp.
Verify that the
nozzle allows a correct air
passage and replace it
if necessary.
Replace the o-ring, clean and
grease the parts.
5- Hydraulic cylinder test:
maintain hydraulic pressure at
"PT" for 30 seconds and
proceed with depressurizaon.
6 - Cylinder drying
7- Recharge the
re exnguisher
with checked or new
exnguishing agent.
8 - Reinstall the dip tube and
dispensing valve.
Perform the operaon with
suitable torque wrench, making
sure you have set the correct
ghtening torque
9- Pressurize the re
exnguisher with a suitable
pneumac gripper and check
for any pressure loss using a
"leak detector";
to secure the device with
safety pin and safety seal
10 - Screw the nozzle,
check for the correct
pressure gauge
reading
11 - Record the inspecon acvity on the maintenance
tag and on the re protecon register

5.4) Twenty-year control
End-of-life re exnguishers must be disposed in accordance with local waste management rules.
Before disposal or disassembly, the re exnguisher MUST BE DEPRESSURIZED by a competent person.
Fire exnguishers should always be disposed of through an approved disposal company and in accordance with
applicable local and naonal codes.
* If the re exnguisher is located in parcular environments, the "life me" ming can be reduced
(see table 2 at point 5.4).

It is recommended to use instruments with controlled calibraon and periodically veried (at least every 12
months) with cered sample instrument.
