Owners Handbook

Observe the warnings and maintenance requirements in this Owner’s Manual
We recommend that you practice riding your Eskuta where there is no traffic until
you have become thoroughly familiar with the bike and all of its controls.
Never operate your Eskuta without wearing a helmet
As the Eskuta owner, you are responsible for the safe and proper operation of your e-
bike. E-bikes are single-track vehicles. Their safe use and operation are dependent upon
the use of proper riding techniques as well as the expertise of the rider. Every rider
should know the following requirements before riding their Eskuta. He or she should:
TIP
The failure of motorists to detect and recognize cycles in traffic is the predominating cause of automobile/
bicycle accidents. Car drivers who may not see the bicycle cause many accidents. Making yourself conspicuous
appears to be very effective in reducing the chance of this type of accident.
9
Perform the pre-operation checks each time you use the vehicle to make sure it is in safe
operating condition
Failure to inspect or maintain the vehicle properly increases the possibility of an accident
or equipment damage
Know your skills and limits. Staying within your limits may help you to avoid an accident
Never ride under the influence of alcohol or other substances including drugs
This Eskuta is designed for on road use only (including cycle & bus lanes). Your Eskuta is
not suitable or designed for off road use
The posture of the rider is important for stability and the correct control of your Eskuta
The rider must at all times keep both hands on the handlebars and both feet on the
pedals during operation to maintain control of the Eskuta
Eskuta’s are only designed to carry tandem riders up to a maximum of 120 kg which is a
combination of the rider and passenger
The passenger should at all times hold onto the rider with both hands and keep both feet
on the passenger foot-rests

GENERAL
CONTROL & POSTURE

10
Wherever possible use cycle lanes
Wear a brightly coloured jacket
Use extra caution when you are approaching and passing through intersections /
junctions, since intersection / junctions are the most likely places for bicycle accidents to
occur
Ride where other motorists can see you. Avoid riding in another motorist’s blind spot
Never maintain your Eskuta without proper knowledge. Contact an authorised Eskuta
dealer to inform you on basic maintenance. Certain maintenance can only be carried out
by certified Eskuta engineers
Many accidents have been caused by error of the cycle operator. A typical error made by
the op-erator is veering wide on a turn due to excessive speed under-cornering
(insufficient lean angle for the speed
Always obey the speed limit and never travel faster than warranted by road and traffic
conditions
Always signal before turning or changing lanes. Make sure that other motorists can see
you
THEREFORE
Always wear an approved helmet
Wear a face shield or goggles. Wind in your unprotected eyes could contribute to an
impairment of vision that could delay seeing a hazard
The use of a substantial, ‘heavy’ jacket, substantial shoes or boots, protective gloves etc. is
effective in preventing or reducing abrasions or lacerations should you fall from your
Eskuta
Never wear loose fitting clothes; otherwise they could catch on the control levers, wheels
or other moving parts which may cause injury or an accident
Always wear protective clothing that covers your legs, ankles and feet. Never wear shorts
riding your Eskuta
PROTECTIVE APPAREL
The majority of fatalities from bicycle accidents are the result of head injuries. The use of a
safety helmet is the single most crucial factor in the prevention and reduction of head injuries.
Owners Handbook

Only use accessories for cargo that are specifically designed for your Eskuta and
purchased directly from Eskuta or one of our official distributors or agentsWherever
possible utilise the stowage compartments on your Eskuta specifically the front glove box
or rear carry box if this has been specified, dependent upon your Eskuta model
Cargo and accessory weight should be kept as low and close to the Eskuta as possible.
Securely pack any heavy items only in compartments that come as standard with your
Eskuta or in accessories designed by Eskuta and make sure to distribute the weight as
evenly as possible on both sides of your Eskuta to minimise imbalance or instability
Shifting weights can create a sudden imbalance. Make sure that accessories and cargo are
securely attached to your Eskuta before riding
Check accessory mounts and cargo restraints frequently
Properly adjust the suspension for your load (suspension-adjustable models only), and
check the condition and pressure of your tires frequently
Never attach any large or heavy items to the handlebar, front fork, or front fender. Such
items can create unstable handling or a slow steering response
This vehicle is not designed to pull a trailer or to be attached to a sidecar
LOADING
Adding accessories or cargo to your Eskuta other than with the use of standard or approval
Eskuta accessories, can adversely affect stability and handling if the weight distribution is
changed. To avoid the possibility of an accident, use extreme caution when adding cargo or
accessories to your Eskuta.
Use extra care when riding a scooter that has added cargo or accessories. Here, along with
the information about accessories below, are some general guidelines to follow if loading
cargo to your scooter: The total weight of the operator, passenger, accessories and cargo
must not exceed the maximum load limit.
Operation of an overloaded vehicle could cause an accident.

Check your Eskuta is clean and free from dirt
Check the front brake reservoir is above the minimum level. If not, release the 2
retaining screws of the reservoir and take if the cap. Fill with a standard motorcycle
grade brake fluid and re-fit the reservoir cap
Check all lights and indicators are functioning correctly
Check tyre pressures – the front and rear tyres should be inflated to 40psi
Check tightness of pedal cranks (Pedal cranks may become loose during riding)
Check tightness of pedals
Check both front & rear brakes are in good working order
Ensure the main chain & small chain are clean of dirt and sufficiently lubricated with oil
Check tightness of all visible bolts
Check tightness of headset
Check wear & tear of the front and rear tyres. If the tyre(s) sidewalls are cut or show any
signs of damage or cracks, then the tyre must be replaced. If the tyre(s) is showing signs
of the wear of the tread, or if there is under 2mm of tyre tread, the tyre(s) must be
replaced
Check tightness of the main chain – if more than 5mm sag on the chain, and then use the
rear wheel adjusters to tension the chain. If this operation does not tension the chain
sufficiently, then the chain requires replacement
Check tightness of the small chain – if more that 20mm sag on the chain is present, the
chain requires replacement
Check for movement / play in the headset by moving the handlebars forwards and
backwards whilst the bike is stationary. If there is minimal play then this is normal. If
there is excessive play or the handlebars seem loose, then the headset requires
tightening. Eskuta or an authorised Eskuta reseller must carry out this work.
Check wear & tear of the pedals, if these look damaged or worn, these must be replaced
Check the exposed fixing bolts to all components
Visually check the amount of grip remaining on the disc pads. If these are looking worn
or braking seems poor or reduced, then replace the brake pads
Check the front brake disc for excessive wear or damage. If damaged in any way, then
replace this part
Check both the front and rear suspension for any leakage of fluid. If any leakage present
then refer to Eskuta or an authorised Eskuta reseller
Check / tighten the bottom bracket
Check/ Tighten rear brake if damaged in any way, then replace this part.
Grease headset and bottom brackets
The following are guidelines only. You should check the wear and tear of your Eskuta each
time prior to riding to ensure the longevity and safety of your Eskuta bike.
