Safety Precautions
Do not drop tablet or subject to severe impact.
Do not use the tablet in extreme hot, cold, dusty or damp conditions. Do not expose it to
direct sunlight.
Avoid using the tablet near strong magnetic fields.
Normal functioning of the product may be disturbed by ESD. If so, simply reset and restart
the tablet following the instruction manual. During file transmission, please handle with
care and operate in a static-free environment.
Keep the tablet away from water and other liquids. In the event that water or other liq-
uids enter the tablet, power off the product immediately and clean.
Do not use chemicals to clean the tablet in order to avoid corrosion. Clean with a dry
cloth.
Do not install the tablet in a confined space such as a book case or similar unit. The venti-
lation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as
newspaper, table-cloths, curtains etc.
No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on or near the tablet.
Attention should be drawn to environmental aspects of battery disposal.
Use the tablet in moderate climates.
The manufacturer is not responsible for damage or lost data caused by misuse, or modifi-
cation of the tablet / battery replacement.
Do not attempt to disassemble, repair or modify the tablet. This will void the manufactur-
ers warranty.
If the tablet will not be used for an extended period of time, please charge the battery at
least once per month to maintain battery life.
Charge the battery if:
a) The battery level icon displays an empty battery
b) The tablet powers off automatically when restarted.
c) There is no response when pressing keys with keys unlocked and battery full.
Do not interrupt the connection when the tablet is being formatted or transferring files.
Interruption of this process may cause data to be lost or corrupted.
When the tablet is used as a portable HD device, please use only per the instructions.
Permanent data loss can occur if used improperly.
Please use and install data using the attachments/accessories provided and only accord-
ing to the manufacturer’s instruction.
Please refer to the information on the bottom of the tablet for electrical and safety infor-
mation before installing data or operating the tablet.
To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this tablet to rain or moisture.
The tablet should not be exposed to dripping/splashing liquids. Never place objects filled
with liquid, such as vases, glassware, etc, on the tablet.
The battery should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunlight, fire or the like.

Please follow responsible procedures for battery disposal.
If the power adapter is disconnected from tablet, the tablet will remain operable as long
as the battery has sufficient charge.
The power adapter is a CLASS II apparatus with double insulation, and no external ground
is provided.
Safety symbol explanation:
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to
alert the user to the presence of non-insulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s
enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover (or back) as there are no
user-serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the
presence of important operating and maintenance instructions in the User Guide pro-
vided with the tablet.
Correct Disposal of This Product. This marking indicates that this product should not be
disposed of with other household waste. To prevent possible harm to the environment or
human health from uncontrolled waste disposal, recycle it responsibly to promote the
sustainable reuse of material resources. To dispose of your used tablet, please use the
return and collection systems available in your area or contact the retailer where the
product was purchased. They can take this product for safe environmental recycling.

Listening Precautions
This product respects the current regulations for limiting the output volume of consumer
audio devices to a safe level. By listening to your device with headphones or earbuds at
high volumes, you run the risk of permanent damage to your ears. Even if you get used to
listening at high volumes and it seems normal to you, you still risk the possibility of dam-
aging your hearing. Reduce the volume of your device to a reasonable level to avoid per-
manent hearing damage. If you hear ringing in your ears, reduce the volume or shut off
your device. Other types of headphones may produce higher volume levels. (At full
power ,the prolonged listening of the walkman can damage the ear of the use）
Maximum output voltage<=150mv
Do not use while operating a motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal
in many areas.
You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous
situations created by obstructed hearing.
Even if your headphones or earphones are the open-air type designed to let you hear
outside sounds, do not turn up the volume so high that you cannot hear what is around
you.
Sound can be deceiving. Over time your hearing “comfort level” adapts to higher volumes
of sound. What sounds “normal” can actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. Guard
against this by setting the volume of your device at a safe level BEFORE your hearing
adapts.
To establish a safe volume level:
Start your volume control at a low setting.
Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly without distortion.
Once you have established a comfortable sound level, leave it there.

Tablet Overview
Navigation Buttons
The navigation buttons at the bottom of the tablet can be used as follows:

screen; press and hold to turn on/off the unit;
press and hold long enough to reset the tablet .

Charging The Tablet
Plug the power adapter into an electrical wall outlet, connect the adapter to
the tablet to fully charge the battery before use (5 to 6 hrs).
You can use the tablet while the battery is charging.
You can also charge the battery using a USB cable but the charge time required is longer
than when using the AC adapter. Turn off Wi-Fi and reduce screen brightness if you are
charging via USB cable.
Turning The Tablet On / Off
Press and hold the power button for 3
seconds until the splash screen appears,
and then wait until the Welcome screen
appears.
To turn off the tablet , press and hold
the Power button until you see the op-
tion “Power Off”, tap on “Power Off”
and then tap on “OK”.
Tip: For the sake of power saving, this
tablet may sleep with the screen dis-
play locked when there is no touch ac-
tion for a while (depending on the ac-
tual setting of Display-Sleep). You can
briefly press the Power button to wake
it up.

Unlocking The Screen
The screen will be locked after the tablet is idle for a few seconds. You need
to unlock the screen by dragging the lock icon rightwards before you
continue to use the tablet .
Home Screen
The Home Screen consists of five separate screens for positioning the
shortcuts, widgets etc.. Slide your finger left or right on the screen to go to
the extended screens.

Customizing Home Screen Items
To add a Home Screen item (shortcut, widget etc.), you can tap the
application icon to display all applications and widgets. Hold your tap on an
item to place it on the home page.

To move a Home Screen item, hold your finger onto it to highlight, then
drag it to the desired location, and release your finger.
To remove a Home Screen item, hold your finger onto it to highlight,
drag it to the recycle bin symbol “X” and then release your finger.
Changing The Wallpaper
Hold your tap on the Home screen until a menu appears. Tap on
“Wallpaper” and select a picture as the desktop wallpaper.
Changing The System Settings
Tap the Setting icon on the Home Screen to open the settings menu and
change relevant settings for your tablet if necessary.

Setting The Date & Time
IMPORTANT: Many applications require the Date and Time to be set
correctly according to your geographic location in order to connect with
your accounts or display correct data.
On the Home screen, tap the Settings icon
Under the SYSTEM
header on the left
hand side of the
screen, select Date &
time. Set the time
zone, date and time
according to your
location.
Tips For Using The Touch Screen
When watching a video or listening to music, you can tap on the
progress bar to play any designated section of the file. You can drag the
cursor of the progress bar to any other elapsed time point of the file.
In different browsers (File, Music, etc.), you can hold your finger on the
screen and then drag up and down to scroll through the file list.
In some browsers (File, Music etc.), you may hold your finger on an
item to display options.

Connecting To Your Wireless Network
On the Home screen, tap the Settings icon
Under the WIRELESS & NETWORKS header on the left hand side of the
screen, select Wi-Fi and slide the toggle switch to “ON” to turn on WIFI.
The tablet will scan automatically for available WiFi networks and dis-
play them in the right panel. The list of available networks shows all the
wireless networks in range of your tablet .
Choose a network from the list and then tap “Connect”. Some networks
may be secured with a password. Enter the password before
connecting. If the connection is successful, the message Connected to
WiFi “Network Name” will appear under the WIFI Setting.
This tablet features WiFi connectivity that provides you easy access to the
Internet. For WiFi applications, you need to configure a WiFi network first,
and you will have to stay in a WiFi service zone. Whenever it is within the
coverage of a WiFi network you have configured, the tablet will attempt to
make a connection. Before launching an Internet application such as the
web browser, you first need to configure and connect to a Wi-Fi network.

Applications Screen
Your tablet includes many preloaded apps (listed below). As
you download more AndroidTM apps, they can also be accessed on the
Applications screen.
To access the Applications screen, on the Home screen, tap
the Applications icon in the upper right hand corner
of the Home Screen.
AppInstaller: Install and uninstall third party AndroidTM apps.
Barnes & Noble: Shop at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore,
download purchased media, and access My Library.
Browser: Access the Internet and ‘surf the web’.
Calculator: Perform basic math equations.
Calendar: Interfaces with your Exchange email account (s) to help
you stay current with all your appointments and scheduled events.
Camera: Use the built-in cameras for video conferencing, taking
pictures, and recording videos.
Clock: Display a digital clock and schedule alarms.
Downloads: View history of items you’ve downloaded from
websites. You can also open and delete downloads
Email: Send/Receive email using your existing email addresses.
ES File Explorer: View and manage files and apps, backup files to
your microSDTM card, and install third party AndroidTM apps.
Facebook: Quick access to the Facebook website.

Gallery: View and manage photo and video files.
HDMI Switch: Set the HDMI resolution for the HDMI connection
to view videos on your TV (cable not included).
Music: Play and manage audio files.
OfficeSuite Viewer: Open and view files of the following formats:
DOC, DOCX, TXT, XLS, XLSX, CSV, PPT, PPTX, PPS, PPSX and PDF
Search: Perform quick Web, Apps and Music searches.
Settings: Personalize and enhance the tablet as desired.
You Tube Player: View popular YouTube videos.
Video Player: Play video formats not supported by the Gallery
and ES File Explorer media players.

Launching The Web Browser
On the Home screen, tap the Browser icon
You can scroll the screen up and down by holding your finger on the
page and dragging it up or down.
To open a link, simply tap it.
To go back to the previous page that you browsed, tap the Back icon .
To display the available menu items, tap the Menu icon .
To go back to the Home screen, tap the Home icon
Using The Virtual Keyboard
Tapping on any text input field can open the virtual keyboard. With the
virtual keyboard, you can enter a website address or any text required.

Reading eBooks
Your tablet comes equipped with the Nook reading application from Barnes
& Noble, giving you access to thousands of books, magazines and other ma-
terial. Here are some frequently asked questions about the Nook app.
How do I create an account to use NOOK for Android?
You can create a NOOK account directly from your Android tablet. Simply
tap the NOOK icon on your tablet and following the instructions under Get-
ting Started. A NOOK account, with a default payment method, lets you
shop for NOOK Books, Magazines & Newspapers.
Your NOOK account is ready for use once you have set up the following:
-An email address
-A default payment method
-A valid expiration date for the payment method
-A current billing address
If you have any questions about setting up an account, please call Customer
Service at 1-800-THE-BOOK
I'm having trouble downloading my books to my Android device. What do
I do?
Possible reasons why you may not be able to download books:
-The payment method on your NOOK account may have expired. Update
your payment method information on the NOOK website or from Settings in
the NOOK for Android app, and try downloading your books again.
-A default payment method may not have been selected for your NOOK
account. On the NOOK website, add or select a default payment method,
and try downloading your books again.
If you're still having issues please archive and then unarchive the book, and
try downloading your book again.
Can I shop for books, magazines, or newspapers on NOOK for Android?
You can purchase new books, magazines and newspapers through the Shop
icon in NOOK for Android or by visiting the NOOK website. NOOK titles pur-
chased in the NOOK for Android app and on the NOOK website will auto-
matically sync to your NOOK app and will be available in your NOOK Library.

Reading eBooks
How do I get back to My Library when reading a book, magazine or comic?
To return to your library when reading a book or magazine, press the Back
button on your device. If the Back button is hidden, tap the middle of the
screen to bring up the Reading Tools menu. Tap the Back icon to return to
your library. For magazines, if you are in Article View, you will need to tap
outside the Article View screen to get back to the main magazine screen.
Then tap in the middle of the screen to bring up the Reading Tools menu.
Can I open textbooks on NOOK for Android?
Textbooks are currently not supported in the NOOK for Android app.
Can I read NOOK Kids books on NOOK for Android?
NOOK Kids books are not currently supported
How do I quickly access the book I'm reading now?
The fastest way to locate the item you're reading now is to sort your NOOK
Library by "Recent" The item will be displayed in the upper left and will have
the Reading Now badge on it. The "Recent" sort displays your content based
on what you have most recently read or purchased on any NOOK device or
NOOK Reading App. If an item has never been read, it is sorted based on the
date you purchased it. Items are not sorted by publication date
How can I delete or archive a book from my library?
NOOK for Android easily lets you delete or archive books from your library.
From the Library screen in Grid view, just touch and hold on a cover and
select the Archive or Delete button in the product details screen (open the
menu on Android Phones) to archive or delete the book. Please note: Ar-
chiving an item will remove the file from your device and move the item
into the Archive folder in your NOOK Library in the Cloud. You can unarchive
the item if you want to redownload it to your device. When you delete an
item from your NOOK Library, it will permanently remove the item from the
Cloud.

Music Library
On the Applications screen, tap the Music icon
Tap the Music icon in the Apps page to launch the music player.
You should enter the music library once you start the music player. The Mu-
sic Library will display your music files by category (Artist, Album, etc.) if
your music files contain these song information tags.
You can drag your finger up and down on the file list to scroll.
Tap a song to play.

Playing Video
On the Application screen, tap the Video Play icon
Find the video files/folders under the correct directory after you enter the
video player.
You can drag your finger up and down on the video list to scroll.
Tap a video to play.

HDMI Output
The tablet features a HDMI interface that allows you to connect to a digital
television. HDMI connection can deliver high-definition audio and video
quality.
To use the HDMI function on digital televisions,
1. Connect the tablet to the digital television through HDMI cable.
2. Open the HDMISwitch app, then select an HDMI option (HDMI 720p/
HDMI1080p) and play a video file;
3. Turn on the digital television, and switch its Source mode to HDMI.
4. Enjoy the sharpest image quality on the wide screen of television.
