4. Configuring the Data Gateway
The configuration of the Data Gateway can be done by running the
E .exe progra or by a web browser by the Data Gateway’s web
console. If you don’t know the IP address of the Data Gateway, the
E .exe progra (see next section) will find and allows you the
configure the .
4.1 Em Manager Program
E .exe is a device anager progra which runs under the Windows
32 bit environ ent. Using UDP broadcast packets, E .exe allows you
to inquire and odify the gateway’s basic para eters. Upon
executing E .exe, the following screen(exa ple)will appear if a
gateway is found.
The screen shows nu ber of devices detected, as well as their IP
Address, Sub Mask, MAC Address and Device ID. If you select the
〝
〝〝
〝View〞
〞〞
〞/〝
〝〝
〝Refresh〞
〞〞
〞function or press <F5> key, the syste will re-detect
the devices and update the screen accordingly. Because E .exe uses
UDP broadcast Packets, it has the following characteristics:

RS-232/422/485/DIO to Ethernet Data Gateway
11
Since broadcast packets cannot pass through the router, only
the devices on the sa e network section can be detected.
Due to the fact that E .exe uses UDP broadcast, for security
reasons the Config function is available when only one device is
detected. In this case, the following para eters can be
odified under the Config function.
IP Address / Subnet Mask
To set the IP Address of the gateway unit, please click “Config” then
select “IP Address”:
Enter the new IP Address / Subnet Mask value and click〝
〝〝
〝OK〞
〞〞
〞. Or click
〝
〝〝
〝Cancel〞
〞〞
〞to abort the operation

RS-232/422/485/DIO to Ethernet Data Gateway
12
Mac Address
The Mac Address is auto atically generated by the syste based on
syste ti e. It does not need to be changed under nor al operation.
4.2 Web Browser Console Configuration
4.2.1 Entering the web Browser Console
The Data Gateway supports the HTTP co unication protocol. All
device configurations can be easily set by the web browser. Just type
in gateway’s IP address or using E .exe and select 〝
〝〝
〝Config/Device
Setting〞
〞〞
〞function, then the following screen will be displayed.
The following basic infor ation is shown on the screen:
System time elapsed:
::
:The elapsed ti e since the syste was
turned on. In the screen shown above, the elapsed ti e is 0 hour

RS-232/422/485/DIO to Ethernet Data Gateway
13
7 inutes and 5 seconds. This infor ation can be used to
deter ine if the device has been operating nor ally without
being reset.
Firmware version:
::
:This is used to identity the fir ware version of
the Ethernet Data Gateway device.
Serial number :
::
:The unique serial nu ber encoded with the
Ethernet MAC address.
Now, type in the password and click the〝
〝〝
〝Login〞
〞〞
〞button to enter the
configuration screen. Note that initially the password is not required,
just click the〝
〝〝
〝Login〞
〞〞
〞button.
WARNING! If the correct password is not entered correctly in
three tries, you have to wait at least 20 inutes to try again.
The following is an exa ple of the configuration screen.
