Operation Manual
Thanks for purchasing ezcap292 HD Medical Imaging Workstation. The operation manual guides
you how to set up and operate.
Features/ports and buttons
Front panel:
1．HOST –Plug a USB flash (or USB HDD) to save recorded video files or update firmware.
2．IR –Receive the command signal from remote control.
3．VIDEO –Press to start recording video, press again to stop recording.
4．PHOTO –Press to snapshot a photo. (No effect during recording video)
5．MENU –Press to enter the setup menu.
6．EXIT –Quit current function.
7．PLAYBACK –Press to switch from Preview record mode to Playback mode.
8．PLAY/PAUSE –Press to play video file in Playback mode, and press again to pause.
9．DELETE –Delete file in Playback mode.
10．HDD/USB Switch –Press to switch between HDD and USB HOST.
11．POWER –Power on when connect power supply, press to power off, and press again to
power on again. (Device will remember all the settings before power off when you power
on again. No effect during recording.)

12．OK/UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT –For menu operation. UP/DOWN also for volume up and
down, and LEFT/RIGHT also for microphone volume up and down.
Back plate:
13．FOOT SWITCH –Foot pedal ports, PHOTO for snapshot, and VIDEO for recording video.
14．LINE OUT/LINE IN –Audio line output / Audio line input.
15．IR –Connect IR receiver cable and fix the receiver at somewhere for easy use of remote
control.
16．MIC –Microphone input.
17．SDI OUT / IN –SDI output / input.
18．YPbPr IN –Component video (YPbPr) input.
19．CVBS OUT / IN –CVBS output / input.
20．HDMI IN –HDMI input.
21．DVI IN –DVI input.
22．VGA IN –VGA input.
23．PC –Connect to USB 3.0 port of computer with USB cable, to capture video with medical
software.
24．HDD –Connect 2.5 inch HDD.
25．HDMI OUT –HDMI output.
26．RS232 –Extension port.
27．READ HDD –Connect to computer to read the data in 2.5 inch HDD with mini USB cable.
* Only in USB HOST mode. And cannot read HDD in HDD mode.

28．POWER –Connect DC 12V3A power supply.
Remote Control:
1.POWER –Power on and off.
2.PHOTO - Press to snapshot a photo. (No effect during
recording video)
3.HDMI/YPbPr/AV/SDI/DVI/VGA –Select video source.
4.USB –Select USB HOST to be storage.
5.HDD –Select HDD to be storage.
6.REC/STOP –Record video / Stop recording.
7.OK/UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT –For menu operation.
UP/DOWN also for volume up and down, and LEFT/RIGHT
also for microphone volume up and down.
8.MENU - Press to enter the setup menu.
9.EXIT - Quit current function.
10.WATERMARK –Press to add time watermark with
recorded file on top left, and press again to cancel
watermark.
11.PLAYBACK - Press to switch from preview record mode
to playback mode.
12.SCH REC –Set up schedule recording.
13.PLAY/PAUSE/LAST/NEXT/FAST BACKWARD/FAST
FORWARD/DELETE –Function keys in Playback mode.
DELETE button can delete the selected file.
14.720P/1080P/480P –Set up the resolution of video recording and HDMI bypass.
Connections
For connection, package only includes Power supply, Remote control, IR receiver cable, USB
3.0 cable, Mini USB cable. Please prepare yourself for other cables and accessories.
1, Connect DC12V power supply to POWER port of back plate, the green LED next to POWER
port turns on, and the green LED next to POWER button of front panel turns on too.
2, Connect video source, and you have following selections: CVBS，YPbPr，SDI，HDMI, DVI or

VGA。
Please connect one of them only at the same time, and don’t connect them together.
The video source that has been connected first is effect if you connect two kinds of video
sources or above at the same time. The device has the memory function, it will choose the
video source that has been selected before device powered off. If you do not connect this
video source, device will search other connected video sources.
You also can select the video source by remote control.
3, Connect audio source, and you have following selections: audio line input，Microphone
input。
4, Connect video output to display, and you have following selections: CVBS output，SDI
output，HDMI output.
It’s not necessary because device includes screen.
HDMI output is effect for all the video sources input, but CVBS output is effect for CVBS input
only, and SDI output is effect for SDI input only.
5, Connect LINE OUT to speaker or headset.
Please connect this if you need to hear sound. And don’t need connect it if video source is
HDMI input or SDI input, and they include sound, and connect display with speaker.
6, Connect storage device, and you can choose USB flash drive or USB HDD to connect USB
HOST port, or choose 2.5 inch HDD to connect HDD port. Please press USB/HDD switch to
choose the storage mode, and the LED next to the mode will turn on.
Device supports NTFS，FAT and FAT32 format, and doesn’t support exFAT format.
7, Connect foot pedal to FOOT SWITCH port. PHOTO port for snapshot photo, and VIDEO port
for start/stop recording video.
8, Connect IR receiver cable to IR port of back plate, and fix IR receiver at somewhere. It’s not
necessary if you don’t need.
9, Connect USB 3.0 cable to PC port of back plate and free USB 3.0 port of your computer. It’s
for capturing video with software on your computer. Ezcap292 Medical Imaging Workstation
supports UVC system, and work with most third video capture software well.
Record
Standalone mode - save video and photo in USB flash drive, USB
HDD or 2.5 inch HDD directly
After connection done as above, screen should show the input video, and you also can get
sound if you connect video output to TV or monitor. Please make sure the storage you select
has been connected well, and LED next to the storage should turn on. ezcap292 Medical
Imaging Workstation is ready now.
To record video is very simple --- press the VIDEO button (or REC on remote control), then you
will see the red LED next to VIDEO button turns on. Press VIDEO button again (or STOP key on
remote control) to stop recording, the LED turns flashes few seconds then turns off.
Press PHOTO button (or PHOTO key on remote control), then you will see the red LED next to

VIDEO button turn on few seconds then turn off, it means device snapshot a photo and save in
storage already. It only works when NOT recording.
Press UP/DOWN button to adjust the audio volume, and press LEFT/RIGHT button to adjust
the microphone volume.
Press 720P/1080P/480P keys of remote control to select recording resolution and video
output resolution.
Press WATERMARK key of remote control to add time watermark on recording file. Press again
to cancel time watermark.
There are several reasons for no actions when press VIDEO button, you may need check:
1, The input video source disconnected.
2, The storage is out of memory.
3, The format for storage is not suitable, e.g. exFAT. ezcap292 support FAT, FAT32, and NTFS.
4, The storage is not connected well.
5, The storage is not ready, normally, it will take 4~8 seconds after plug it on.
Schedule recording:
Please set the SYSTEM TIME to the right local time before you set your schedule recording.
Press SCH REC of remote control, set the schedule time and others first, then click Select icon
to display the task detail in task subject. Device will start and stop recording following your
settings automatically.
Set the recording video quality & split:
Press MENU button (or MENU key on remote control), enter to following menu.
Clock: Set the time of system
Schedule Recording: Set the schedule record (same function as above)
Record Bitrate: Set recording video quality, set bit rate to High–16Mbps, Middle-10Mbps or
Low-4Mbps.
Record File: Set record file to SPLIT or NO_SPLIT(NTFS). SPLIT means will cut the record file to
1.95GB each both in FAT and NTFS storage. NO_SPLIT(NTFS) means will save in one whole
file in NTFS storage, but cut the record file to 1.95GB each in FAT storage.
Time WaterMark: Set time watermark with recorded file (same function as above)

please do not take the storage off when the LED is flashing. The recording will automatically
stop if the USB flash out of space.
Sometimes you may find that some recorded video with problems, like: skip. It may because
you don’t click “safety remove”the device when disconnect from computer. You can try to
format it to FAT32 if that problem keeps happen.
Video capture card mode –capture video with software on your
computer
ezcap292 Medical Imaging Workstation also can work with a video capture card. It is USB 3.0
interface, and supports UVC system, can work with most of video capture and broadcast
software well. You just connect USB 3.0 cable with PC port of back plate and free USB 3.0 port
of computer, and run the application software, then choose capture device to “ezcap Medical
HD”.
If video source includes audio, and get the bad audio quality, please set up the sample rate of
recording device to 48KHz.
Connect device to computer, and right click Speaker icon in the bottom right corner of your
computer screen, choose Recording devices. Double click ezcap Medical HD, at Advanced,
choose the sample rate to 2 channel 16bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
Note: Most of all, you will get nice sound after you finish above settings. If you still get
bad audio, it means the audio sample rate of your video source is 44.1KHz or 32KHz,
please set here to 44.1 or 32 to make the sound without noise.
ezcap292 Medical Imaging Workstation does not only support Windows, but also supports
Mac OS X and Linux, you just set the video capture device to “ezcap Medical HD”.
Playback / Check recorded file

Playback recorded file directly
After recording, you may want to playback the recorded file. Just press the PLAYBACK button
(or PLAYBACK key on remote control), you will see the playback page on screen.
Choose PHOTO folder to check photo files, and choose MOVIE to check video files:
Use menu direction button (or direction buttons on remote control) to choose movie then
press PLAY/PAUSE button to playback the recorded video.
You can press LAST, PLAY/PAUSE, NEXT, FAST BACKWARD, FAST FORWARD button to operate
playback as usual.
Delete recorded video file: Use menu direction button (or keys of remote control) to choose
the file you want to delete, press OK button to select it, then press DELETE button, press LEFT
or RIGHT to choose Yes and press OK to delete the file.

Playback, check, or backup recorded file on your computer
You also can pull out USB flash drive or USB HDD from USB HOST, and connect to your
computer to backup them, and playback with other video playback software.
And you can connect mini USB cable with READ HDD port and your computer, and set device
to USB mode (not HDD mode), then you can backup the video files in HDD to your computer,
and playback with other video playback software.
other Settings
Press MENU button to enter menu operations, press direction keys to choose the settings.
Set OSD Language.

Update firmware.
There are two firmware for this device –system part, record part.
Please make sure the device is on USB HOST mode before you update firmware.
1, Update firmware for SYSTEM PART: Copy the firmware file (MERGE.bin) to USB flash drive,
plug USB drive to USB HOST, then press MENU button, use direction key to choose Software
Update (USB) as above picture, then press OK and LEFT to update. Screen will display
updating process from 1% to 100%, then screen turns black and display video again, it means
device update firmware successfully.
2, Update firmware for RECORD PART: Copy the firmware file (jedi.img) in to USB flash drive,
press POWER button to turn off device, plug USB drive to USB HOST, then press POWER
button again to turn on device. The red indicator LED next to VIDEO button will flash few
seconds, then LED turns off. It means the updating is finished. Plug USB flash drive to
computer, and the jedi.img file disappears, it also means updating successfully.
