INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
The following procedure covers installation of the GeoSnap PPK with the M600 Pro mounting kit.
Note: The PWM/GPIO input cable is included in this kit for use with the A3 flight controller. If you do not want to
use the A3 Flight controller to send trigger commands to the camera you may Skip steps 1, 2, 3, and 7. If you would
like to use this functionality now or in the future we recommend performing steps 1, 2, 3, and 7 to enable PWM
trigger control.
1. Remove the top cover of the M600 Pro by removing the 6 screws circled below.
2. Plug in the PWM/GPIO input cable into the F8 port on the A3 flight controller as shown.

3. Replace the top cover routing the PWM/GPIO input cable to exit the top cover as shown.
4. Remove the six screws circled below using the included 2 mm hex key.

5. Install the Lower mount brackets as shown where the screws were removed using the six M3 screws provided.
6. Place three of the provided adhesive cable clips in the locations and orientations shown.

7. Plug the PWM/GPIO input cable into the GeoSnap-to-hotshoe cable and tuck the extra wire into the cable clip
on the top of the drone.
8. Route GeoSnap-to-hotshoe cable as shown, making sure the cable will not be pinched by the M600 Pro folding
arms or have any opportunity to come in contact with the M600 Pro’s propellers.

9. Slide the hotshoe module onto the camera’s hotshoe (do not tighten the two screws yet).
10. Plug the camera trigger cable into the 2.5mm female audio jack extending from the hotshoe module. Plug the
camera trigger cable into the camera’s shutter release port.

11. Adjust the trigger cables to a position that minimizes slack. Now tighten the 2 clamping screws with a 2mm
hex key to secure the hotshoe module and trigger cable assembly in place.
12. Install the camera into your gimbal or fixed-mount. If using a gimbal, follow the manufacturer’s balancing and
tuning instructions.
13. Plug the GeoSnap-to-hotshoe cable into the hotshoe module. Use the included ziptie to provide strain relief.

14. Route the GeoSnap-to-hotshoe cable as shown. Ensure that the gimbal can rotate freely, adjust as necessary.

15. Place the GeoSnap PPK system onto the Lower mount brackets oriented with the arrow pointing towards the
front of the M600 Pro. Lock the GeoSnap PPK system in place by pressing the quarter turns fasteners down
and then turning them to the right until a click is felt. Lift up on the GeoSnap PPK to ensure it is locked in
place.

16. Plug the GeoSnap-to-hotshoe cable into the 8-pin cable coming off the bottom of the GeoSnap PPK.
17. Place the LiPo battery in the battery slot oriented as shown and fasten the Velcro strap around the battery and
the balance lead.

SYSTEM OPERATION
POWERING THE GEOSNAP PPK SYSTEM
Battery Information
Two Turnigy 9XR 2200mAh 11.1V Li-Po batteries are included for powering the system. These batteries have built-
in undervoltage protection, which means that power will be cut from the output leads if any cell drops below 3.0V
(thus preventing damage to the battery). The advantage of using these batteries to power the GeoSnap PPK (as
opposed to using power from the drone) is that the GeoSnap PPK can keep logging and maintain GPS lock, even if
the drone’s batteries needs to be swapped when mapping large areas.
Checking Battery Voltage
You can check the voltage of the entire battery and it’s individual cells by plugging in the battery’s balance plug
into the connector labeled “3 Cells” on the included DC-4S charger/voltage checker (you can even do this while the
battery is powering the GeoSnap PPK as depicted below).
A full battery has a total voltage of 12.4V - 12.6V. The battery is practically depleted once has reached 10V. A fully
charged battery can run the GeoSnap PPK for about 6 hours.
Battery Charging
1) Plug in the AC adapter into the wall.
2) Plug in the barrel power plug from the AC adapter into the DC-4S charger/voltage checker. Check to make
sure that 3 dashes are displayed before plugging in the battery (this indicates that there is indeed power
getting to the charger and that it won’t just operate as a voltage checker).
3) Insert the balance plug of the battery into the connector labeled “3 Cells”. The charger will display the
overall voltage battery and the voltage of each cell as it charges. Charging a fully depleted battery takes
about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

4) Once the battery is fully charged, the charger will display “FUL” and begin to beep. At this point you
should disconnect the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the wall.

OFFSETS
Camera to Antenna Offsets
Description
Type in the X, Y, and Z offsets from the camera to the
antenna. More information on how to do this correctly is
below.
This diagram show how the X, Y, and Z axis aligned to an airframe. It also shows that an offset may be positive or
negative depending on where the antenna is mounted relative to the camera.
The simple, fast way to determine the offsets when using the GeoSnap PPK with the M600 Pro Integration kit is to
follow these steps:
1) Use a tape measure or ruler to estimate the X and Y offset from the lens centerline to the center of the
drone. A rough estimate (+/- 2cm) is sufficient since any error in the X and Y offset measurements tend to
get averaged to near 0 in when performing grid mapping missions. Keep in mind that the all the offsets
need to be entered into the CONFIG file in meters.
2) The Z offset is more critical to measure accurately. Add the following distances to get the Z offset value
when using the GeoSnap PPK with the Field of View developed M600 Pro Integration kit (the bolded
parameter has been precisely measured in advance by Field of View using CAD).
dZ = antenna L1 phase center-to-bottom cover + bottom cover-to-sensor plane mark + lens focal length
dZ = 0.259 meters + bottom cover-to-sensor plane mark + lens focal length
The image on the next page shows how to make the bottom cover-to-sensor plane mark measurement
