original Seamless TM Follow Focus Gear ring I Once installed,
it should give you a lifetime of trouble free service. Focus
gears should fit perfectly right out of the box. If it does not
fit as expected, let us know and we're here for full support.
Below are some tips that can help you make quick mods
on your own so you can get busy filming in the event a gear
is slightly off.
DISCLAIMER
Never force a non-fitting gear on to the focus ring of
your lens. If a gear is too tight for installation, let us

TIGHT GEARS
SANDING Sanding is slow, but it works well if the gear is
only slightly too tight. 100 grit paper was perfect for us, but
just about any sand paper will work fine.
AIR HEATING This is the best method to get a tight gear on.
A heat gun works best. The cheap $20 heat guns on eBay
are perfect, but you can also potentially use a hair dryer.
Place the gear flat on a safe surface and simply heat the
inner surface of the gear as evenly as possible until the gear
is soft. Quickly slide the gear onto your focus ring. It should
fit perfectly as the gear cools. Be careful to install the gear
as quickly and evenly as possible for best result.

LOOSE GEARS
TAPE This works well to close any minor gap between
the focus ring on your lens and the gear. Apply a length of
tape to the inner surface of the gear before installation.
Experiment with different lengths to get the gear to fit
securely. We prefer gaffer tape, but almost any kind of
tape works.
SHIMS You can also put shims under rubber focus rings on
some lenses for good results. Different materials can be
used to tighten gear different amounts. Strips of printer
paper, business cards, or thin strips of plastic could all work.
