This section of the User Manual contains safety, handling, disposal,
recycling, and regulatory information, as well as the Limited
Warranty for the Framework™ Laptop, including all current and
future models of the FRANBP0000, FRANPA0000 series. Please
read all safety information and operating instructions before
using the Framework™ Laptop to avoid injury or harm. For a

General safety guide
Read the following safety, operating, and warning instructions
before you use Framework™ Laptop. Failing to do so may cause
injury.
WARNING: Choking hazards
The Framework™ Laptop has small parts which may present a
choking hazard to small children and pets. Keep the Framework™
Laptop and its accessories away from small children.
WARNING: Rechargeable lithium ion battery
Lithium polymer batteries are extremely hazardous and liable
to cause serious injuries to persons or property. The user
accepts liability for the use of a lithium polymer battery. As the
manufacturer and the distributor Framework cannot ensure the
battery is used correctly (charging, discharging, storage, etc.),
Framework Computer Inc is not liable for damages caused to
persons or property by improperly used batteries.
In the event of battery leakage, avoid the liquid coming into
contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact with the skin, wash
copiously with soap and water. In case of contact with the eyes,
rinse copiously with cold water and consult a doctor. If you notice
a suspicious smell or noise, or observe smoke around the power
adapter, disconnect it immediately.
Caution: The battery used in this device may present a risk of ire
or chemical burn if mistreated. Do not disassemble, heat above
45C (113F), or incinerate. Replace battery with model FRANBBAT01
or other Framework-recommended batteries only. Use of another
battery may present a risk of ire or explosion.
Do not use the Framework™ Laptop if its cover has been broken
and the battery’s plastic or mylar cover has been cracked or
compromised in any way. Do not expose the battery to excessive
physical shock. Do not expose the Framework™ Laptop and its
battery to heat or dispose of it in a ire. Do not put the battery in a
microwave oven or in a pressurized container. Do not attempt to
dismantle, pierce, distort, or cut the battery and do not attempt to
repair the battery. Keep away from children.
Caution: Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect
type. Dispose of used batteries according to the battery disposal
instructions below.
WARNING: Coin cell battery
This product’s coin-cell battery may contain perchlorate and may
require special handling when recycled or disposed of. For more
information, see www.dtsc.ca.gov/hazardouswaste/perchlorate.
Do not ingest battery, Chemical Burn Hazard. The Framework™
Laptop contains coin/button cell batteries. If the coin/button cell
battery is swallowed it can cause severe internal burns and can
lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children.
After the internal parts have been installed, remember to replace
all covers securely. If the coin/button cell battery is not secure in
the holder, stop using the product and keep away from children. If
you think the batteries may have been swallowed or placed inside
any part of the body, seek immediate attention.
Note: If you replace a battery that uses the wrong type, there may
be an explosion. Please follow the battery disposal instructions
below to dispose of the old battery.
WARNING: ESD shock
The Framework™ Laptop includes internal components that are
sensitive to ESD. Improper use may result in electrostatic shock
to the user or minor to severe damage to the product. Please visit
our support page for more information in regards to operating and
repairing the Framework™ Laptop properly to avoid ESD issues.
WARNING: Hearing damage
To prevent possible hearing damage, do not listen at high volume
levels for long periods.
WARNING: Prop 65
WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including
Nickel (Metallic), which is known to the State of California to cause
cancer, and Bisphenol A (BPA), which is known to the State of
California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. For

Operating guide: temperature,
storage, use, and replacement
Operate and store the Framework™ Laptop in a place where the
temperature is between 5C -35C (41F - 95F) (operating) -25C- 45C
(-13F - 113F) (storage). Low or high-temperature conditions might
temporarily shorten battery life or cause the Framework™ Laptop
to temporarily stop working properly.
This equipment is not suitable for use in locations where children
are likely to be present.
Do not place the portable computer directly on the user’s lap and
exposed skin. Avoid using your portable computer with the base
resting directly on the skin. The surface temperature may rise
during normal operation. Sustained contact with exposed skin
may cause discomfort or burn.
Do not operate the Framework™ Laptop without all of the
removable components installed. Operation must include all
components.
Please follow the below safety instructions in order to safely
replace all of the Framework™ Laptops interchangeable
components.
1. Remove your laptop from all power sources by unplugging your
AC adapter from your power outlet
2. Turn your computer o
3. Wait until your laptop is completely cool to the touch to open or
remove any internal components (This can take anywhere from
5 - 30 minutes).
Caution - if you do not wait for the laptop to cool down you may
risk the chance of encountering hot components which may
result in a potential burn risk.
4. Before restarting the Framework™ Laptop users must ensure
that all screws are in place and tightened both internally
and externally. The user must also ensure that all of the
interchangeable components must be in their original locations.
Note. Please pay particular attention that the C cover is aligned
and all screws are tightened.
5. For instructions on the reassembly of the Framework™ Laptop
- please refer to the replacement instructions in the reverse
order.

Operating guide: charging
Examine the power adapter regularly for damage to the cord, plug,
enclosure, or other parts. Never use a damaged power adapter
cord. Use only certiied power adapter cords for charging. Misuse
can cause electrical shock.
Never charge a leaky battery or one that has been damaged. Do
not use the Framework™ Laptop to charge any other battery than
the compatible rechargeable battery.
Do not cover your product while the battery is charging. Recharge
the battery at a temperature of between 5C -35C (41F - 95F)
(operating).
Do not use the Framework™ Laptop if its cover has been broken
and the battery’s plastic or mylar cover has been cracked or
compromised in any way.
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall
be easily accessible.

By using your Framework Computer Inc (“Framework”) product,
you agree to be bound by the terms of the Framework Limited
Warranty (“Warranty”) at http://frame.work/support/warranty
If you do not agree to the terms of the Warranty, please return the
Product within the return period stated in Framework’s Terms of
Sale.

At the end of this product’s life, do not dispose of this product
in your general household waste. Instead, in order to prevent
possible harm to the environment or human health from
uncontrolled waste disposal, please dispose of this product
separately in accordance with your local laws and regulations.
For more information on the separate collection systems for
waste electrical and electronic equipment that are available for
consumers near your home free of charge, please contact your
local municipality. You can also contact the retailer from which you
purchased your Framework Laptop as they may have recycling
services or may be part of a speciic recycling program.
If disposed of properly, this product will be treated in an
environmentally sound manner at a licensed recycling plant and
its components will be recovered, recycled or reused in the most
eicient manner in compliance with the requirements of the
Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2012/19/
EU) of 14 February, 2014 (as subsequently amended or replaced)
(“2012/19/EU”).
Battery Disposal
Damaged or unusable batteries must be disposed of in a container
specially reserved for this purpose. When disposing of the battery,
follow appropriate local guidelines and regulations. For further
information, contact your local solid waste authority.
WEEE
The trash can symbol on the Framework Laptop or on its
packaging indicates that it must not be disposed of with your
other household waste, pursuant to 2012/19/EU. Instead, it is your
responsibility to dispose of your waste equipment by handing it
over to a designated collection point for the recycling of waste
electrical and electronic equipment. The separate collection and
recycling of your waste equipment at the time of disposal will
help to conserve natural resources and ensure that it is recycled
in a manner that protects human health and the environment.
For more information about where you can drop o your waste
equipment for recycling, please contact your local city oice,
your household waste disposal service, or the shop where you
purchased the product.
Energy Star
ENERGY STAR is a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency voluntary program that helps businesses and individuals save money and
protect our climate through superior energy eiciency. Products that earn the ENERGY star prevent greenhouse gas emissions by
meeting strict energy eiciency criteria or requirements set by the U.S. EPA’s enhanced product certiication process to ensure that
products marked with the ENERGY STAR logo are ENERGY Star certiied per applicable ENERGY STAR guidelines. The following logo

A key ENERGY STAR requirement for computer products is power management features that signiicantly reduce energy consumption
when the product is not in use. Power management allows the computer to enter “sleep” mode, or “low power” mode, after a deined
