Welcome to SMARTCAPTURE NEXT
Welcome and thank you for purchasing SMARTCAPTURE NEXT. This product allows you to use your SMARTSPEED
timing system to automatically capture video clips of your training and testing drills on your iPhone or iPod device.
Videos can then be downloaded for viewing through iTunes or uploaded directly to our FUSION SPORT TV web based
video platform.

First Time Use
To get started with using SMARTCAPTURE NEXT, you will need the following –
1. SMARTCAPTURE NEXT package
2. A supported Apple device with lightning connector, connected to the internet
STEP 1 –DOWNLOAD THE APP
Download the SMARTCAPTURE NEXT App for your device from iOS App Store.
Otherwise, please download from the link below.

STEP 2 –SETUP YOUR VIDEO CAPTURING DEVICE
Assemble your Apple device into a given tray and fit the entire part into the connection device. Start the
SMARTCAPTURE app.

SOFTWARE OVERVIEW
Home screen functions include:
Settings: Opening the advanced settings menu will allow the user to set up more advanced options as well as more
information about SMARTCAPTURE NEXT.
Hardware Connection Status: This icon demonstrates the connectivity status of the hardware. If you can see this
icon, it means the sleeve is not currently connected.
Message Board: This is where we will send you messages on help topics, upgrades, new features and accessories
Library: You can view past videos and select different actions that you want to do with them, like review the video,
put overlays on the video or upload to Fusion Sport TV.
EXAMINE HARDWARE CONNECTION
Check the icon in the top left corner. Once connected this icon will become invisible. In addition, the LED on the
connection device will turn solid red.

When the hardware is ready, fit it on the tripod. You can capture videos in either landscape or portrait view by
rotating the camera mount accordingly
TRIPOD ASSEMBLY
1. Loosen tripod knob and pull legs away from stem.
2. Push down on knob assembly until supports are horizontal.
3. Extend Tripod to Desired height. We recommend extending one segment of the tripod to full extension
4. Ensure tripod neck is firmly tightened
ATTACHING SMARTCAPTURE NEXT DEVICE
1. Line up the tripod connection with the bayonet the top of the tripod.
2. Press down, into the tripod, and twist the bayonet mount into a locked position
CHECKING THE CAMERA ALIGNMENT
1. Tap CAPTURE and the application will switch to capture mode.
2. Adjust the tripod so the camera is facing the track.
3. When the adjustment process complete, tap the home button on the bottom left corner to quit the camera
mode.

STEP 3 –SETUP A CONNECTION TO YOUR SMARTSPEED SYSTEM
The connection information of the SMARTSPEED is displayed in the home screen of your PDA. You have to configure
the SMARTCAPTURE NEXT device so it is using the same channel and the Pan ID as SMARTSPEED.
Go to Settings, and tap the “Channel” row and the “Pan ID” row and configure their value to be the same as your
SMARTPSEED system. This information can be found on the home screen of the SMARTSPEED application.

On the PDA, tap “Start a new session”, and then tap “Scan” so the application will scan a list of connected device.
The SMARTCAPTURE NEXT will be detected as an “iPod” device.
STEP 4 –RUN A TRAINING SESSION
1. Note that the video processing procedure is fully automated by the SMARTSPEED. Once it is detected in the
device discovery page, SMARTSPEED will take control of SMARTCAPTURE NEXT and control it wirelessly.
2. Camera mode will be enabled when you tap the “GO” button in SMARTSPEED. On the iPod you will be able
to see the camera view and status message reported at the bottom of the screen.
3. When a training session is completed and you exit the session in SMARTSPEED, SMARTCAPTURE NEXT will
enter the library mode, which shows a list of videos taken and stored in the Apple device. You can tap the
video and select from several options, such as review the video, apply overlays to the video or upload to
FUSION SPORT TV.
STEP 5 –PACK UP AND CHARGING
The SMARTCAPTURE NEXT hardware will be turned off when users unplug the Apple device from it.
We recommend that you recharge your SMARTCAPTURE NEXT prior to every session. To charge the unit, put it into
the charging dock. The different color of LED on the dock reflects the charging status of the hardware.

HARDWARE
Option
Description
Channel
This should be configured the same as SMARTSPEED. The channel information of
SMARTSPEED is available on the SMARTSPEED app home screen.
Unit ID
This is the unit ID of the device. It must be set to a different ID than any of the
other devices in your SMARTSPEED system (gates or scoreboards). It is set to
“12” by default.
Pan ID
This is the connection ID of the device. It is set to “3332” by default. Users do not
need to change this except for special circumstances when instructed.
Power level
It is set to ‘4’ by default. Users do not need to change this except for special
circumstances.
VIDEO RECORDING
Option
Description
Video Quality
Select whether you want the quality of your video to different resolutions.
Higher quality video will take up more memory on the device and as such will
decrease the amount of recording time available (displayed below ‘Pre roll
delay’).
Pre roll delay
This determines how long you want to add onto the beginning of your video
prior to the first gate being broken and the protocol beginning. (see ‘Live
Capture’) For example, if you set this to ‘2’, the video will start 2 seconds prior
to the first gate being broken, which will then include the starting movement.
Color theme
The color scheme used on the status bar and the buttons at the bottom.
Green is the default scheme in the application. Users can also choose the
black scheme or the white scheme.
Text color
The text color used on the status bar.
Status bar
opacity
The transparency of the status bar at the bottom.
VIDEO LIBRARY AND PLAYBACK
Option
Description
Sort by
Sort the video list by different options. Options available: “Date”, “Player
name”.
Output type
The video output format.
File extension
The file extension. It is set to MPEG-4 (*.mp4).
Display
thumbnail
Select to display the thumbnail image on the left hand side of the cell.
It is recommended to switch this option off to improve performance if there
are numerous videos in the directory. Scrolling is faster without the
thumbnails.
Enable FUSION
SPORT TV
Enable the FSUION SPORT TV upload options in the user selections when
videos are selected.
Display
filename
Display the raw filename of the videos in the directory. The filename is set in
the following format:
[Player name]-[Subsession ID]-[Protocol Name]-[SessionID]-[Overlay
Style].mp4

Overlay
scheme
Select the color scheme of the overlay. Green is the default scheme in the
application. Users can also choose the black scheme or the white scheme.
Result display
The display style of the split time. “Static” means the split results will pop up
and remain on the final value. “Dynamic” means the results will start
incrementing from 0 second to the final value.
Split time
display
Display the split time in individual format (split time calculated from the last
remote unit broken) or cumulative format (split time calculated from the first
remote unit broken).
CAPTURE MODE
Once you have finalized the setup of the protocol on your SMARTSPEED PDA and begin the session,
SMARTCAPTURE NEXT will automatically switch into the camera mode. Users can see what’s actually
captured on the screen and the recording status is updated at the bottom. Note that, the label overlay at
the bottom is not captured in the video, it is added later in the library.
LIBRARY
LIBRARY is where all of your videos are automatically saved. You can access these via the home screen.
Alternatively, when you finish a testing session the app will automatically take you to the Video Library so
that you can review the session and all of the videos recorded. It should look similar to the picture below.

SINGLE VIDEO SELECTION
Tap on any one of the videos, an action sheet will pop up and provide the following options.

Tap on any one of the videos, an action sheet will pop up and provide the following options.

APPLY OVERLAY ON VIDEOS
Users are allowed to add overlays of split results on the existing videos. The modified videos will be saved
in the same directory.

In the overlaid video, date, name of the drill, name of the player and the trial ID are fitted on the top left
corner of the videos. Split results are printed at the bottom.
To generate overlaid video, users can access to the video library section, select the video and select “Apply
overlay” from the action sheet menu. The video generation process normally takes around 5-10 seconds,
depending on the video quality and also the video duration.
Different overlay settings can be chosen from SETTINGS.
Exporting Your Video
You have two options for exporting your videos off your Apple device
Export the videos to Fusion Sport TV (see below)
Connect to iTunes and retrieve the videos through the apps menu
RETRIEVING VIDEOS THROUGH APPLE ITUNES
Your SMARTCAPTURE NEXT videos can be retrieved from your device using iTunes on either PC or Mac computer.
To retrieve your videos:
1. Connect your iPod or iPhone to your computer and start iTunes.
2. Navigate to your device in iTunes and click on “Apps” under the setting menu
3. You will either see a folder called “SmartCaptureVideos” or a list of videos, depending on your device model
and operating system version. Click on the folder or files you wish to move to your computer, and click “Save
To”
4. The files are now on your computer.
Note the iTunes workflow will be different in some versions. If you have problems finding the App data, please

WHAT IS FUSION SPORT TV?
FUSION SPORT TV is an additional Fusion Sport product offering cloud hosted videos storage and analysis. Videos
from SMARTCAPTURE NEXT can be uploaded directly to FUSION SPORT TV where they can then be shared, edited
and analyzed.

UPLOAD VIDEOS TO FUSION SPORT TV
The videos captured by SMARTCAPTURE NEXT can be uploaded to FUSION SPORT TV. NOTE you
must have access to a FUSION SPORT TV zone to use this function.
When you access the LIBRARY and select videos, an action sheet will pop up. If you choose
“Overlay/Upload to FUSON SPORT TV” you will then enter upload mode.
Log in to the FUSION SPORT TV site through the setting menu or the video upload session. Your
available video zones will be listed at the bottom and users can choose to share the videos to public in
selected zone(s).

NOTE: unless otherwise notified by Fusion Sport, your server address is https://fusionsport.tv
Multiple tags can be added with the video, separated by a comma.
Users can also customize the title and the description of the video if only one video is selected. Otherwise,
the title and then description will be set as the filename of the video and the description in the metadata by
default.
Users can choose to upload the raw videos or the overlaid videos to the site by tapping the appropriate
buttons at the bottom.

Product Support and Warranty
HOW TO GET SUPPORT

WARRANTY STATEMENT AND DISCLAIMER
The Fusion Sport devices are manufactured by Parent company Grabba International at its Brisbane, Australia
facility. The devices have a 12-month warranty from the date of purchase. Fusion Sport warrants and represents that
all Fusion devices are free of all defects in material, workmanship and design, and have been produced and labelled
in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and ordinances pertaining to their production and labelling. This
warranty is expressly limited to repair, replacement of product or refund of product price at the sole discretion of
Fusion Sport. Equipment for repair must be returned to the Fusion Sport facility in Brisbane, Australia or a Fusion
Sport authorised repair centre. To do this, contact Fusion Sport’s service/ repair department to obtain a Return
Authorisation (RA) number.
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RELATING TO DATA LOSS, SUBSEQUENT EQUIPMENT FAILURE, AND/ OR EQUIPMENT
DAMAGE ETC IS EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED FROM THIS WARRANTY AND GRABBA INT. ACCEPTS NO LIABILITY FOR ANY
LOSS OR DAMAGE INCURRED WHAT-SOEVER.
In the event that it is determined the equipment failure is covered under this warranty, Fusion Sport shall, at its sole
discretion, repair the product or replace the product with a functionally equivalent unit and return such repaired or
replaced product without charge for service or return freight, whether distributor, dealer, or retail consumer. This
limited warranty does not extend to any product which, in the sole judgment of Fusion Sport, has been subjected to
abuse, misuse, neglect, improper installation, accidental damage, nor any damage due to use or misuse produced
from integration of the product into any mechanical, electrical or computer system. The warranty may be void if the
case of the product is opened by anyone other than Grabba International’s repair department or authorised repair
centres.
Apple, iPhone and iPod touch are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries.
“Made for iPod iPhone iPad” means that an electronic accessory has been designed to connect specifically to iPod
touch, iPhone and iPad respectively, and has been certified by the developer to meet Apple performance standards.
Apple is not responsible for the operation of this device or tis compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
