CONTROL LOCATORS CONTROLS AND CONNECTIONS
SET UP
1. Connecttheexternalspeakercablesfromthepassivespeakertothecorresponding
 terminal“SPEAKERL”ontheactivespeaker.
2. InserttheDCplugofthepoweradaptortotheDCINjackonthebackofthe
 speakerunit.Thenplugthepoweradaptorintoapoweroutlet.
3. Pressthe“POWER”buttononthespeakerunittoturntheuniton.
PAIRING BLUETOOTH ENABLED DEVICES
1. WhenswitchingtoBluetoothmode,theblueindicatorwillashquickly,
 indicatingthatthesystemhasenteredpairingmodeandwillbesearchable
 byyourBluetoothenableddevice.
2. ActivateyourBluetoothenableddeviceandselectsearchmode.
 “GadhouseMiles”willappearonyourBluetoothdevicelist.
Select “Gadhouse Miles” in the pairing list.
3. Theblueindicatorwillstopashingandremainsteadilyonifpairingsucceeds.

device,suchasamediaplayer,tothespeakerunit’sAUDIOL/R(AUXIN1/AUX
IN2)socket.Pressthe“MODE”buttontoselectbetweenAUXIN1andAUXIN2.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Height- To use MilesBookshelf Speakersas stereo speakersfromaxed
listeningarea,theSpeakersshouldbelocatedattheear-levelofalistenerwho
is seated in the listening location.
Distance - It is recommended that the distance between each of the Miles
BookshelfSpeakersbeshorterthanthatfromthespeakerstoalistener.Fora
perfectsoundquality,bothofthespeakersshouldbetiltedinwardtowardthe
listener.
Position - For the ultimate sound performance, the speakers should be
situatedinaverticaldirection.Iftheyarenotintheear-levelofalisteneri.e.
much higher or lower than recommended, they can be put on their side for
off-axis performance.
Amplier Considerations
Anampliershouldbewellandcarefullyselected.TherangeofMiles
BookshelfSpeakers’impedanceisbetween4to8ohms.Thus,theamplier
chosenneedstobeabletosupporta4-ohmload.Foranamplierwith
a switch, it is required to set to select a 4-ohm compatible operation
mode.Ifanamplierisnotselectedorsetupproperly,theamplieror
thespeakerscanbedamaged.
Ampliersbetween15to95wattsperchannelcanbeusedwiththeMiles
BookshelfSpeakersalongwithgood care. Incase audibledistortion
occurs,itissuggestedtoturnthevolumedownuntilthedistortionis
gone.Likewise,whenthereisaudibledistortion,itisrequiredthatthe
speakerandampliernotplayformorethanafewseconds.
Usage-Specic Recommendations
Bookshelf Speakers
To use the Miles Bookshelf Speakers as bookshelf speakers, the two
speakersneedtobeatthesamehightasdifferentheightsofthespeakerscan
resultindegradingsoundsquality.Trytoplacethespeakersascloseto
theearlevelaspossiblenomatterthelisteningareaisataseatedlevel
orstandinglevel.
Stereo Speaker on Stands
Likewise,pleasemakesurethatthespeakersarepositionedattheear
levelofalistenerwhentheyareusedwithspeakerstands.Therefore,
speakerstandswith aproperheight shouldbe used.To calculatethe
perfectearlevel,measuretheheightofthelistener’searwhenseated
in a listening area, then subtract 15 cm. For instance, if the listener’s
earis100cm.fromtheoorwhenhe/shesits,theappropriateheightof
speakerstandswillbearound85cm.high.
Desktop Near-eld Monitor
In addition, the Miles Bookshelf Speakers can be used as desktop/
near-eldmonitorspeakerse.g.,nexttothesideofadisplayormixing
console.However,theMilesBookshelfSpeakersshouldnotbelocated
closetoCRTdisplaysorothermagnetic-sensitiveequipmentsincethey
arenotshielded. IncaseplacingtheMilesBookshelf Speakers atthe
ear-levelhightisnotpossible,itissuggestedtouseMonitorIsolation
Padstotiltthespeakersbackortodecouplethemfromthedesklevel.
