I. INTRODUCTION
1. Before Usages
This manual is help to understand how to use GN-708VN for all users. Also,
must be read carefully before use it. All users must follow the steps this
manual before installation hardware and set up the menu.
2. Important Safeguard and Warning
Warning
1. Use the adaptor, which is supplied or recommended by the supplier. It may cause
fire.
2. Do not dismantle or assemble the product. It may cause malfunction or fire.
3. Do not touch the product with wet hands. It may cause malfunction or fire.
4. Matters must be ensured to a professional for installation. It may cause malfunction,
electric shock or fire.
5. Consult the place of purchase if the need for installation arises. Delinquent instal-
lation may be the reason for malfunction, electric shock or fire.
6. Ground applies to video products equipped with a 3-wire grounding type plug
having a third (grounding) pin. This plug only fits into a grounding-type power outlet.
If grounding is not done, it may cause malfunction or electric shock.
7. Ground connection must not touch gas pipe, water pipe or telephone line. If
grounding is not done properly, it may cause electric shock.
8. Prevent metallic foreign substance inside the product. It may cause malfunction or
electric shock.
9. Do not spray insecticide or flammable spray while driving. It may cause fire.
10. Prevent water from entering inside electrical parts. Clean with a dry towel or
malfunction or electric shock could result.
Caution
1. Use the power cord, which is supplied or recommended by the supplier. The
internal fan rotates at high speed and may cause an accident.
2. Do not drop, give strong vibration, or shock to the product. It may cause malfunc-
tion.
3. The air inhaler on each sides and the fan of the back panel must not be blocked
during installation. The internal temperature of the product would be greater than
allowable and could cause malfunction or fire.
4. Do not touch the product or the power cord when there is thunder. It may cause
electric shock.
5. Do not install the product near or on top of heating source. The internal tempera-
ture would be greater than allowable and could cause malfunction or fire.
6. Do not install the product on inclined or unstable location or where vibration could
be committed. It may cause malfunction.

This 8Channel DVR (Stand Alone Digital Video Recorder) is designed to provide
high quality resolution monitoring and recording simultaneously by up to 8 cam-
eras. As digital process is applied, it performs the cost effective system configu-
ration.
Basically, this product has 9 split multi-display function on a screen, monitoring,
recording in a full screen, auto screen mode. With complete Full option pro-
vided, This 8 Channel DVR provides user’s easy operation for users to maxi-
mize effectiveness.

IV. HOW TO USE
1. FRONT PANEL
1) LED
Each LED shows a performing of present situation and function.
PWR LED : It shows the power On/Off.
HDD LED : It shows that DVR is playing or
recording image.
REC LED : It shows that DVR is recording image.
PLAY LED : It shows that DVR is playing image
2) Channel Buttons
The channel consist of from C1 to C4, these show connected screen. To see the
present monitoring, press the channel button you want to watch.
3) Display Mode Buttons
In display mode, there are 4 split mode (Quad) and
Auto sequence mode in monitor. Using 4 split
button, it will show all 4 channels’ images in a page.
Press the key for Auto sequence mode. Auto sequence shows all of display
mode, It will display each channel first, then 4 split mode in regular time per
screen. (To set up the time you want to stay at each screen from 2 sec to 30
sec, use (▲, ▼)keys to value up or down in ‘Setup’—> ’Screen’ menu). To stop
Auto mode, use another key. Otherwise, it repeats displaying.

<Quad Display> <Full DIsplay>
<Auto Sequence>
<Auto sequence> time can set in the Menu ‘Setup’ —> ‘Screen’ —> ‘Sequence’.
If user set camera off in ‘Camera’ Menu, it will not display on Auto mode. How-
ever, when camera(s) is not connect to DVR, it will be displayed blue screen
that channel. If cameras connected all, user must check BNC connection or
camera status. If you make disable camera in camera setting menu, the screen
will display black screen with that channel.
When DVR run recording, it display camera icon left side bottom on the screen.
User can see status of DVR.
When user want to stop auto mode, just press channel button or mode button
but remote controller has only one mode button so user can press mode button
again then it display each mode, Quad mode and Auto mode.

4) LIST Button
It shows happened events by listing
events. When powered-on & off,
started recording & stopped
recording, it makes lists in order for
user to check what has been recored
and what is recording.
To play event in list, use ▲, ▼button
to move cursor, and ▲, ▼button to
turn page. Total recordable scale can
be listed 127 in 13 pages. Each list is
marked in texts for user to recognize
easily. The 127th event will be
overwrited(loop) into 1st event when it recored the 127th event, and the 1st
recorded before will be erased by overwrited. Above on 127th event, this rule
applied.
5) REC Button
REC is for recording. The picture
shows 8 camera’s recording basi-
cally. The red camera figure from
right paused screen shows that the
recording process, it will disappear
when the recording stops. The date
and time of record are under from
light picture, The mark “ 97% ”
shows the space recorded. So in
other words, it shows that the 3%
space of hard disk drive is remained
but after 100% usage, it will start
from 0% with circulate icon. That mean hard disk is overwriting but data only
erase from beginning point so user can see all data remained (If user play dur-
ing recording, always change begin time and end time.)
User can choose overwrite enable or disable in system setup menu.

IV. How to use
6) PLAY/PAUSE Button
This key is to play record or pause the
screen. Unless there is a recorded
specific date and time, it will play from
the first where started recording.
To play record, choose where you
want to play first (use ▶, ◀button to
move cursor and use ▲, ▼button to
search the date and time), return to
menu screen second, then press
PLAY/PAUSE Button. The date and
time you want to play should be
between recording started and ended.
In some cases, for example, for an exact screen catching, you should want to
pause the screen, in order that, press PLAY/PAUSE button again, then the
screen will be paused for more delicate observation of event.
PLAY/PAUSE button mainly functions to perform as same as Enter key
except play/pause function in playing mode.
7) STOP Button
To stop playing record and return to present situation screen, use STOP button
or MENU button.
8) USB Button
4 channel DVR provide back up sys-
tem by moving images into USB
memory stick. Before backing up,
user should prepare to transmit data
from DVR system. First of all, to save
by using this back up system, start to
play images. While playing, use ▲
button to set up a start time of
recording, use ▼button to set up an
end time of recording. Then after
setting up record start & end time,
press USB button, then.. continue

There will be appeared like from left,
you can see from left, started time and
ending time of recording, USB spared
space, copy size which you want to
save, file name, expected saving time.
To copy for backing up, press Play
button below in picture, then there will
be a message “Writing to USB Disk”,
and the time to copy will be reduced .
After completion of copying, use
Menu or Stop button to return. Then
disconnect the memory stick then
connect it to Computer so that you
can check (confirm) by watching record.
Reference: to repeat using Memory stick, you should delete the information in
DVR USB connection part, then you can use it again.
9) Arrow Button
▲, ▼, ▶, ◀- direction key, moving cursor or
chaning value.
▶ , ◀these button perform ▶▶ , ◀◀ (Fast
Forward, REWinding) function.
While playing, ▶▶ , ◀◀ - Fast Forward,
REWinding
(a) FF▶▶ : To play 2 times faster, press ▶▶ one
time more.
(b) FF ▶▶ : To play 4 times faster, press FF▶▶ twice.
(c) FF ▶▶: To play 8 times faster, press FF▶▶ 3 times.
◀◀- one more time-rewinding 2 times faster.
2 times– rewinding 4 times faster
3 times-rewinding 8 times faster
10) MENU button
At the centre position of direction key button, MENU button perform to execute
menu on Screen Display. And to get out from every option.

2. Back Panel
1) VGA Port (VGA)
For connection CCTV monitor and PC monitor directly
2) Monitor Port (MON 1, MON2)
For connection DVR and monitor, available to monitor 2 monitors at the same
time, also, you can back up by connecting one to monitor and connecting the
other to VCR
3) AUDIO IN, AUDIO OUT
This DVR provides 1 channel audio independently. To record voice at the same
time, Audio in– connection for mike, Audio out– connection for speaker (mono)
4) Network Connection (ETHERNET)
For connection DVR and computer or Router. You can see the flash on LED when
connected.
5) CAM 1 ~ CAM 4
For Connection DVR and Camera. connect with BNC port. If you want to connect
by RCA port, use BNC transfer adaptor. Before connecting, choose numbers for
each camera.
6) PS2/MOUSE
For Connection general PC and PS2 type mouse. To set up easier and to set up
motion area conveniently , install mouse for using it.
7) RS485 PTZ/Alarm Terminal Block (Option)
For Connection with Alarm input equipment to this part and with this part to output
part. Input can be available for 8 channel. Output can be 1 though RELAY OUT.
By using RS485A, RS485B connection part, adjust camera for PAN/TILT/ZOOM
function.

3. Remote Controller
This is remote controller.
1. Up from below picture, by using these keys, set up DVR menu conven-
iently.
2. On centre keys, From C1 to C8, if you press number 1, you can watch
number 1 channel in a full screen.
3. Under from below picture, these keys for PAN/TILT keys. These keys are
not available for this product.

It must be on Master of hard disk before installing, the
way to set jumper depending on maker’s sorts, you
must set after checking hard disk’s manual or explain
involved.

Confirm whether hard disk and camera are installed or not.
Hard disk jumper setting should be “master”
After installing hard disk, before roofing case, confirm that DVR recognize
hard disk.
If DVR might be switched off during recording, DVR turn into “Power
Recovery” automatically, then take to rerecord pre-situation.
5. Installation
1) Hard Disk Drive Installation
(A) First, confirm that hard disk’s jumper is on “Master”.
(B) Connect hard disk’s IDE cable and power on cable

2) Monitor connection
Monitor connection is important as you would watch every situation though
monitor. Connect monitor input to MON 1 and MON 2 by cable.
3) camera connection
Connect camera input to switch, then connect from CAM1 to CAM4 in order.
4) Alarm Input
For effectiveness, Every Ground is made to be one.
You can install connect 8 alarm input from 1 to 8.
Ground should be connected with 8 lines and each
input parts should be connected Ground. Each sen-
sor should be power on to power input( depending
on situation) and should be connected to each alarm.
In alarm setting option in menu, you can install in
these 3 modes.(1) Normal-Close (2) Normal-Open
(3) Disable

5) Alarm Output
DVR has alarm inner switch , If the sensor in alarm input operates, output oper-
ates like below.
In alarm switch terminal, the electric power of alarm output is connected so the
electric power of output equipment is on. Using set up is like above, but you
needn’t set up it on menu, you can use the connection part of back panel.
6) RS485 connection (Option)
Above, there is a terminal block connection part from left side of alarm connection
part. You can control camera by connecting RS485A, RS485B with PTZ camera.
7) Network connection
To monitor/record by remote controller, connect the cable connected LAN port,
Router then use inner Network web or internet. If you connect PC and DVR di-
rectly, you should use cross-over-cable. If you connect with general hub switch,
you can use general network cable.

1) Camera
In camera option,

contrast, tone, saturation.
Memo> When you set camera off, after
camera on again. You must check record
speed because it will be speed with 0
which means it is can not be recorded.
2) Record
Recording speed can be fixed by the number
of saving picture per second. You can take
more pictures per second on the camera
which you think important so that you can
save better resolution than the other
cameras. This DVR can save 60 pictures per
second. . So you can set up recording on
important place with more pictures per
second, therefore you can observe the
specific wanting area more delicately . DVR
display 1 reflection though 2 pages (field), DVR save 30 pictures. In other words,
DVR manage to display 60 pages per second, so in moving picture(30 frame) the
resolution gets inferior.

Recording speed
▲, ▼-channel selection
◄, ►- selecting the number of saving
pictures per second. The entire number
of pictures is limited within 60 so one
channel’s number gets high, the other’
number gets low automatically. You
can maximize effectiveness.
Record Quality
◄, ►- High, Normal, Low
Depending on resolution, file size can
be
diverse. For example, lower resolu-
tion,
more saving time. This option apply
only
entire channel but not individually.
Event Rec Duration
it is how long it will be recorded from the moment when motion catch
something or alarm operates. From 5 sec to 30 sec available.
Schedule
It is to set up Automatic recording func-
tion which is for sensor or alarm to re-
cord when those catch something, this
function is very useful. This function
apply only for entire camera. Set up
recording time you want.

▲, ▼- option selection.
Time recording– choose the time zone
you want to record. It will record with-
out alarm or motion detection. Set up the time
Motion detection recording– when motion sensor catch something, it
start to record for the period how long you want to record. Set up the
time
Sensor detection recording– when alarm sensor catch something, it
start to record for the period how long you want to record. Set up the
time
Motion+ sensor detection recording– when alarm or motion sensor
catch something, it start to record for the period how long you want to
record.

3) Sensor
As you see from left, Alarm output time
is the time of the outputting of image
when event happen.‘.
◄,►- choose the time
You can choose close which you don’t
want to alarm out at all.
You can choose from 5 sec to 30 sec in
5 sec basis.
You can choose ‘CONT’ to alarm out
until you want to stop.. You can stop it
Stop button on front panel.
From sensor-1 to sensor-8, set up the time how long you want to
record. This function applies for entire camera. You can choose three
selection, which are N/open, N/close and Disable.
4) Motion Detection
This function is when the sensor detect
something’s motion, it output by
alarming or by recording or by alarming
and recording. You can choose
detection area at each channel where
you want to watch. And time also. The
stronger Sensibility gets, the higher
detection. (level 1,2,3,4) Alarm output
time– close, 5sec,10,15,20,25,30, cont.
Cont is for outputting until user stop it.
Motion detection area is the part of
area you will choose. As you see, you
can see blue rectangle part in the
picture. It is part of detection area. Use
◄, ►button to choose the area. You can
choose the area. If you use mouse, it is more
convenient to move cursor. You can choose
entire place detection area also.

5) Screen
Border: You can mark divided border
line on screen or not. It is one of
option. Turn it on or turn it off of
divided border line.
Video Adjustment: You can move
screen to move up and down, right and
left (◄,►, ▲, ▼). It shows right
position for users.
Sequence: You can set time stay time
in Auto mode. it will be set 1 sec to 30
sec.
6) Audio
This DVR provides 1 channel Audio,
select “on” on recording, “on” on mute,
then it will record when it record
something but not in live screen. It is
useful and effective as you see. Input
volume is for the volume on recording,
output volume is for the volume on
playing.
7) System
System section provide basic setting for
running DVR. To set up system, you must
stop recording and playing. Disk setting is for
defaulting hard disk.
To erase everything saved, default hard disk.
Now you can record from first. This DVR
provides network function, so you need to
know how to operate this DVR carefully, and
pc viewer software. How to use viewer is
explained later.

1Hard Disk Setup
Disk set is for setting hard disk setting.
After using all space in hard disk, you
can record again from first. How? The
hard disk will overwrite the oldest
recording part, so the new saving part
can overwrite on old recording part. In
other words, when you use 100% hard
disk, the new saving part will overwrite
the oldest recording content part
choose “Disk default” button, you will
see the picture. You can set up the
password ‘111111’. Use ◄,►, ▲, ▼
buttons to choose wanted number, then
enter, play. To change password, go to
menu password reform.
In disk set up, the total size doesn't change but USED marks as 0,
which means that there is one disk connected at that moment, first start
as from 0. When HDD formatting is completed, system reboots
automatically.

2Password Change
To change password, enter the
password you use, then if the
password is right, then enter the new
password. Then there will be appeared
password confirmation window, then
the message that new password has
applied will be appeared.

3Time Set
Time zone is sorted by each country.

After set the time, press “apply”
If this DVR is connected on internet network,
you can update automatically by
synchronizing through NTP server. You can
set up server address with these keys ◄,►,
▲, ▼
NTP (Network Time Protocol) perform to
synchronize time, the company or website
where supply service manages to run server.
If synchronize by NTP server, to synchronize the time, press ‘yes’ on “
synchronizing to server”, then DVR will synchronize the time in every minute
automatically. (Must use NTP IP address)

4Event list
Before mentioned, if you press list button, it will execute same as
appearing event list (page 8 reference).

5Network Settings
At EHERNET port, Connect network cable to
router or internet, then select yes on network
setting.
First of all, to use the remote controlling
network function, it is advised to connect
DVR and PC, then to install viewer software
into PC which is provided by the
manufacturer. User should allocate IP
address of TCP/IP structure fitted with
Window OS according to prescribed rule,
then affiliate (join) to local IP. If there is a
Name server, the content should be inputted
together, Also, the password should be
same on Viewer software in PC and DVR.
The resolution is selectable, Very High, High,
Standard, Low, Very Low.
The present DVR services 3 diverse network
joining modes.
1. STATIC, 2. DHCP for dynamic IP, 3.
PPPoE
User opt, use above, with these technical capacity, be able to remote-control,

6F/W Upgrade
You can upgrade Firmware by inter con-
necting USB to DVR after duplicating the file
furnished by the manufacturer. Pressing
button, you should identify whether there is
new substance or not, then, advance up-
grade conformably to a scene.
. After completion of the Firmware upgrade
and reboot, it processes to execute in new
setup.
* Caution : Manufacturer or Supplier Shall not
be held responsible for program malfunction when user upgrade themselves. (We

IV. How to use

This Viewer software can use with Play and Netviewer. User can select icon from
left after executing program.
I. Player
(1) Menu Description
◆ Player : to play reflection data saved, as WF mode
form.
◆ Netviewer : to convert into Netviwer for connecting
network with PC and DVR.
◆ Open File : To display DVR saved file by viewer by
the WF mode.
Open Disk : To search disk to display by Player on
linking directly PC and used hard disk in DVR. Cau-
tion- you should use connect the hard disk to USB
connector or PC IDE bank , then use
Export : To transform WF mode file to AVI mode file,
cause of easiness that AVI can be played by general
media player.
◆ Show Time : To keep the time appeared or disap-
peared when DVR plays.
◆ Always On Top: Always on the top screen in the
windows.
◆ Playback : displaying option( normal, fast, back-
ward, speed increase/decrease, per frame )
◆ Capture : During displaying mode, pressing this
button save pictures automatically on BMP mode file
( Basic save directory: C/VxCapture)
◆ Audio : Audio volume up an down.
◆ Full Screen : to full screen mode
◆ Maximize : maximize the screen
◆ Aspect Ratio : resolution control 640X448 or 640x554.
◆ Split Mode : each channel should be displayed in full screen mode

(3) Playback with recorded video data
After saving reflection image by using
back up USB, you can use like below if
you want to see screen by viewer.
A. Link USB memory stick to PC.
B. Carry out Viewer by double-clicking
VX8TFN viewer icon on PC program. Put
the mouse on anywhere on screen, Click
’Open file’ on MENU.

with mouse, find WF file and then drag it to
Viewer. It will display.

(4) Convert video save as standard AVI format
Transform saved file to AVI file mode,
which user watch in window media player.

a. Player > Export > AVI (Audio-Video
Interleaved Files) click in this order.
b. Click “Input file”, then click “Browse”
c. Open reflection file of WF file mode
which need to be transformed to AVI file
mode.

tory you want to save and put the name on
the file, click ‘select’ button,
e. Find transform compression type, then

f. Once transforming completed, you can find the file input at the directory chosen

You can see menu below if you select network viewer from left above.
(1) MENU Description
◆ Player : playing reflection data which is saved WF
mode in PC.
◆ Netviewer : transforming to Netviewer for connetion

fixed IP
◆ DVR Control : remote control by network.

Execute Viewer software, click ‘netviewer’
on toolbar, then click ‘connect’.

<Step 1> Open internet protocol at local area con-
nection attribute.
