GMA347H(helicopter)versionhasthepilotandcopilotcontrolknobsonthefrontpanel
reversedfromthestandardGMA347andisavailablewithablackbezelonly.TheGMA347

ServiceBulletinsmaybeissuedonproductforeithersoftwareorhardwarechanges.The
ServiceBulletinwillindicateifthechangecanbemadeinthefieldoriftheunitmustbe
returnedtoaGarminfacility.ItwillalsoindicateintheWARRANTYINFORMATIONsectionifthe
laborisreimbursableandwhatconditionsmustbemetforreimbursement.Themaximumlimit
fortimereimbursementwillbelistedintheMANPOWERsectionoftheServiceBulletin.
Themostcurrentsoftwareversionshouldalwaysbeinstalled.Insomecases,conditionsfor
reimbursementrequirethattheunitmustbeundertheoriginalnewproductwarranty.Other
ServiceBulletinsareNon‐Reimbursable.Theonlyexceptiontothissituationisthecaseofa
SoftwareServiceBulletin.Newsoftwarereleasesincludeallprevioussoftwareupdatesforthe
unit.Shouldtheunitbemissingaprevioussoftwareupdatethatwasrequired,theunitwillbe
eligibleforreimbursementforthetimeallottedonthelastrequiredsoftwarechange,uptoone
hour,providedthatthemostcurrentsoftwareversionisinstalled.
Ifmorethanonesoftwareisbeingupdated(example:mainandGPS)onaunit,reimbursement
willbelimitedtouptoonehourcombined,despitetheeligibilityofreimbursementformultiple
SoftwareServiceBulletins.
UponthereleaseofaSoftwareServiceBulletin,theservicecenterordistributorwillhave30
daystoexchangeforthelatestsoftwareupdate.ServiceBulletinscompliedwithforprevious
softwareversionsafterthe30dayswillnolongerbeeligibleforreimbursement.

TheGMA347isahorizontallyoriented,panel‐mountedaudiocontrolpanelandmarkerbeacon
system.Microcontrollercircuitryprocessesfrontpanelkeycommands,controlsannunciator
operation,andprocessesinput/outputandcommunicationinformation.Aprominentdesign
featureoftheaudiopanelisMASQ™(MasterAvionicsSquelch)processing.Whennoairplane
radioactivityisdetectedbytheGMA347,theamountofambientbackgroundnoiseisreduced
byMASQ™.
2.1UNITFEATURES
2.1.1IntercomSystem
Theaudiopanelfeaturesasix‐positionintercomsystem(ICS)withelectroniccabinnoisede‐
emphasis,twostereomusicinputs,andcombinedpilot,copilot,andpassengervolume
controls.Theintercomprovidesfourselectablemodesofisolation(All,Crew,Pilot,Copilot).
Apilot‐selectablecabinspeakeroutputcanbeusedtolistentotheselectedaircraftradiosorto
broadcastPAannouncements.ThePAfunctionispilotselectable.
2.1.2DigitalVoiceRecorder
Theaudiopanelcontainsadigitalvoicerecorderwithplaybackcapabilityprovidinguptotwo
andahalfminutesofrecording.TheplaybackfeatureiscontrolledbypressingthePLAYbutton
oraremotemountedswitch.RecordingisautomaticwhenaCOMsignalisreceived.The
recordercanbedisabledusinganexternalswitch.
2.1.3MarkerBeaconReceiver
Amarkerbeaconreceiverwithdualsensitivity,audiomuting,andautomaticre‐armingis
incorporatedintheaudiopanel.Receiveroperatingvoltagerangeis14/28VDC.
2.1.4SmartMute™
ThemarkeraudioisselectedinitiallybypressingtheMKR/MUTEbutton.Ifnomarkerbeacon
signalisbeingreceived,thenpressingbutton2againwilldeselectthemarkeraudio.This
operationissimilarwhenselectinganyothersourceontheGMA347.However,ifthesecond
buttonpressoccurswhenamarkerbeaconsignalisbeingreceived,thenthemarkeraudiois
mutedmutedbutnotdeselected.Thebutton’sLEDwillremainlittoindicatethatthesourceis
stillselected.TheGMA347’sSmartMute™functionmonitorsthemarkersignaland
automaticallyunmutestheaudiowhenthecurrentmarkersignalisnolongerbeingreceived.In
allcases,themarkerbeaconlampsoperateindependentlyofanyaudioselectionandcannotbe
turnedoff.

players.TheheadphoneoutputsofthesedevicesplugintoMUSIC1orMUSIC2jacks.Onlythe
pilotandcopilotcanhearMUSIC1.MUSIC2isanon‐mutedinputheardonlybythe
passengers.MUSIC1andMUSIC2characteristicsareaffectedbytheactiveintercommode.
MUSIC1issoft‐mutedwhenaninterruptionoccursfromanaircraftradio.Softmutingisthe
gradualreturnofMUSIC1toitsoriginalvolumelevel.MUSIC1canalsobeconfiguredtomute
duringICSactivity.MUSIC2isanon‐mutedinput.
2.1.6FailSafeOperation
Afail‐safecircuitconnectsthepilot’sleftheadsetchannelandmicrophonedirectlytoCOM1in
theeventofpowerlossorinterruption.
