you are getting rid of your old refrigerator,please
follow the instructions below to help prevent
accidents.

or Freezer:
Takeoff the doors.
Leavethe shelvesin place sothat children may not
easily climb inside.
Refrigerants
All refrigeration products contain refrigerants, which
under federal law must be removed prior
to product disposal. If you are getting rid of an old
refrigeration product, check with the company
handling the disposal about what
to do.
USEOF EXTENSION CORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the use
of an extension cord.
However,ifyou must use an extensioncord, it isabsolutely necessarythat it be a UL-listed(inthe United States)or
a CSA-listed(inCanada),:S-wiregrounding type appliance extension cord having a grounding type plug and outlet
and that the electrical rating ofthe cord be 15 amperes (minimum) and 120 volts.

HOW TO CONNECTELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord. For
personal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
Thepower cord of this appliance isequipped
with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates
with a standard :S-prong(grounding)wall outlet
to minimizethe possibility of electric shock hazard
from this appliance.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a
qualified electricianto make surethe outlet is
properly grounded.
If the outlet isa standard 2-prong outlet, it is
your personal responsibility and obligation to
have it replaced with a properly grounded
:S-prongwall outlet.
Therefrigerator should always be plugged into its
own individual electrical outlet which has a voltage
rating that matches the rating plate.
Thisprovides the best performance and alsoprevents
overloading housewiring circuits which could cause a
fire hazardfrom overheated wires.
Never unplug your refrigerator by pulling on
the power cord. Always grip plug firmly and pull
straight out from the outlet.
Repairor replace immediately all power cords that
have become frayed or otherwise damaged. Do not
usea cord that showscracks or abrasion damage
along its length or at either end.
When moving the refrigerator away from the
wall, be careful not to roll over or damage the
power cord.

How it Works
TheClimateKeeper2'" isthe industry's
most advanced refrigeration system,
delivering optimum temperature and
humidity performance to keepfood garden
fresh longer and reduce freezer burn.
TheClimateKeeper2 system features two
evaporators--one for the refrigerator and
one for the freezer.
This provides two separate cooling systems,
and separatesthe airflow between the fresh
food and freezer compartments during
normal cooling operations.*
This ensuresthat the humidity levelsin
the fresh food compartment are significantly
higher than in a conventional system,**
allowing fresh produce and other unsealed
foods to retain their moisture content and
freshness longer. Moisturesensitivefoods
such asfresh fruit, salads,rice,etc.,can now
be stored on open shelveswithout excessive
moisture loss.Dueto the higher humidity in
the refrigerator,you may on occasion
experience fog or small amounts of moisture
in the refrigerator compartment. This is
normal and may come and go asdifferent
food loads and environmental conditions
change. Wipe dry with a paper towel if
desired.
The separate airflow system minimizes
the mixing of air between the two
compartments, which reduces fresh food
odor transfer to improve the taste of ice.

the number of defrosting cycles inthe freezer
evaporator,thereby reducing freezer burn.

How it Works
The ExpressChHFMfeature iS a system
of dumpers,a fan and a temperature
thermistor.
Thepan istightly sealedto prevent the pan's
temperature from causingtemperature
fluctuations in the rest of the refrigerator.
Thecontrols for this pan are located inthe
top of the refrigerator or on the dispenser
with the temperature controls.

How to Use
Empty the pan.Placethe Chilltray in the
pan. Placethe items on the tray and
closethe pan completely.
Selectthe ExpressChillTM pad.On some
models,you can then selectthe chilltime

settings,tap the pad untilthe light
appears next to the desiredsetting.
Tostop a feature before it is

Thewater filter cartridge is located in the back upper right corner
of the refrigerator compartment.
When to Replace the Filter on Models With a
Replacement Indicator Light
Thereisa replacement indicator light for the water filter cartridge
on the dispenser.Thislight will turn orange to tell you that you
need to replacethe filter soon.
Thefilter cartridge should be replacedwhen the replacement
indicator light turns redor ifthe flow ofwater to the dispenser or
icemaker decreases.

Thefilter cartridge should be replacedevery six months

Removingthe Filter Cartridge
If you are replacingthe cartridge,first remove the old oneby
slowly turning itto the left. Denetpull down on the cartridge. A
small amount of water may drip down.
Installing theFilter Cartridge
O Ifyou are replacing a SmartWater cartridge with
an adapter, it must be removed before installing the
cartridge. Toremove the adapter,turn itto the left about 1/4
turn.
Ifyou are replacing a Water by Culligancartridge,
leavethe adapter in place.This adapter will stag in the
refrigerator when you replacefuture cartridges.

Refrigerator Doors (onsomemodels)
Therefrigerator doors may feel different
than the ones you are usedto. Thespecial
door opening/closing feature makes sure
the doorsclose all the wag and are
securely sealed.
When opening and closing the door you
will notice a stop position. Ifthe door is
opened past this stop point, the door will
remain open to allow you to loud and
unload food more easily.When the door
isonly partially open,it will automatically
close.
The resistanceyou feelat the stop
position will be reduced as the door
isloaded with food.
When the door is only partially
open, it will automatically close.
Beyond this stop the door will
stag open.
Door Alignment
Ifdoors are uneven,adjust the refrigerator
door.
0 Using a 7/16" socket wrench,turn the
door adjusting screwto the right to
raisethe door; to the left,to lower it. (A
nylon plug,imbedded in the threads
ofthe pin,prevents the pin from
turning unlessa wrench isused.)
After one or two turns of the wrench,
open and close the refrigerator door
and checkthe alignment at the top of
the doors.

Theconvertible dell pan has its own cold air
duct to allow a stream of cold air from the
freezer compartment or refrigerator

air flow from the Climate Keeper.
Setthe control to the coldestsetting to store
fresh meats.
Setthe control to coldto convert the pan
to normal refrigerator temperature and
provideextra vegetable storage space.The
cold air duct isturned off.Variable settings
between these extremes can be selected.

Crisper Removal
Crisperscan easilgbe removed bg pulling the
drawer straight out and lifting the drawer up
and over the stop location.
Ifthe door prevents gou from taking out
the drawers,first trg to remove the door bins.
Ifthis does not offer enough clearance, the
refrigerator will need to
be rolled forward until the door opens
enough to slidethe drawers out. In some
cases,when gou rollthe refrigerator out,
gou will need to move the refrigerator
to the left or right as gou roll it out.

A newly installed refrigerator may take 12 to 24 hours to begin making ice.
Automatic Icemaker
The icemakerwill produce sevencubes
per cycle-approximatelg 100-130 cubes
in a 24-hour period, depending on freezer
compartment temperature, room
temperature, number of door openings
and other useconditions.
If the refrigerator isoperated beforethe
water connection ismade to the icemaker,
set the power switch in the OFFposition.
When the refrigerator has been connected
to the water supplg,set the power switch
to the ON position.
Theicemakerwillfill with water when itcools
to !5°F (-!0°C).A newlg installedrefrigerator
mag take 12to 24hoursto begin making
icecubes.
Youwill hear a buzzing soundeach time
the icemaker fills with water.
Throw awag the first few batches of ice
to allow the water line to clear.
Besure nothing interfereswith the sweep
of the feelerarm.
When the bin fills to the levelof the feeler
arm, the icemaker will stop producing ice.
It is normal for several cubes to bejoined
together.
If ice isnot usedfrequentlg, old icecubes will
become cloudg, taste stale and shrink.
Specialnote about dispenser models:
Somemodels havea tilt-out ice bin.
Thebin can betilted out as shown in the
illustrations,and it will hold itselfup while
gou take ice out or turn the icemaker
power switch on and off. Besureto put the
bin back in place before closing the door.
To restore your ice level from an empty
bucket stage, the following steps ere
recommended:
O 12 hours after the first batch of ice has
fallen into the bin,dispense5to 4 cubes.
O After an additional 6 hours,dispense
5 to 4 cubes again.
Thesestepswill restore gour icelevelin
the shortest amount oftime.

To access ice and reach the

OLift the bin, then pull it
forward until the bin stops.

Models
There are two types of ice storage bins
on dispenser models. Onehas a shelf above
the bin,the other does not.
Special note for models with tilt-out
ice bin:
These models have a tilt-out ice bin.
The bin can be tilted out as shown in
the illustrations, and itwill hold itself
up while gou take ice out or turn the
icemaker power switch on and off.
Be sure to put the bin buck in place
before closing the door.
NOTE: In order to take full advantage of the tilt-
out ice bin, only store items on the shelf below
the ice bin that are no taller than the lowest
point on the bin.

When replacing the bin, be sureto press

wag back,remove it and rotate the drive
mechanism !/4 turn. Then pushthe bin

ToUse the Dispenser
SelectCUBEDICE _CRUSHEDICE
or WATER_.
Pressthe glassgently against the top
of the dispenser cradle.
Thespillshelf isnot self-draining.
Toreduce water spotting, the shelf
and its grille should be cleaned regularly.
If no water is dispensed when the
refrigerator is first installed, there may be
air in the water line system. Press the
dispenser arm for at least two minutes to
remove trapped air from the water line and
to fill the water system. To flush out
impurities in the water line, throw away the
first six glassfuls of water.
CAUTION:Never put fingers or any other
objects into the ice crusher discharge
opening.

Important FactsAbout Your Dispenser
Donot add icefrom trays or bagsto
the storage drawer. It may not crush or
dispensewell.
Avoidoverfilling glasswith iceand use
of narrow glasses.Backed-up icecanjam
the chute or causethe door in the chute to
freezeshut. If iceisblocking the chute,
pokeit through with a wooden spoon.
Beveragesand foods should not be
quick-chilled inthe ice storage drawer.
Cans,bottles or food packages in the
storage drawer may cause the icemaker
or auger tojam.
To keepdispensed icefrom missing
the glass,putthe glass closeto, but not
touching, the dispenser opening.
Somecrushed icemay be dispensed even
though you selected CUBEDICE.This
happens occasionally when a few cubes
accidentally get directed to the crusher.
After crushed ice isdispensed,some water
may drip from the chute.
Sometimes a small mound of snow will
form on the door in the icechute.This
condition isnormal and usually occurs
when you have dispensed crushed ice
repeatedly. Thesnow will eventually
evaporate.

Dispenser drip area.
Cleaning the Outside
Thedispenser drip area, beneaththe grille,
shouldbewiped dry.Water left inthis area
may leavedeposits. Removethe deposits
by adding undiluted vinegar to the well. Soak
until the depositsdisappear or become loose
enough to rinseaway.
Thedispenser cradle. Beforecleaning,
lock the dispenser by pressing and holding
the LOCKpad for 3 seconds.Cleanwith
warm water and baking sodasolution-
about a tablespoon (15ml)of baking soda
to a quart (1liter)of water. Rinsethoroughly
and wipe dry.
Thedoor handles and trim. Cleanwith
a cloth dampened with soapy water.
Dry with a soft cloth.
Thestainless steel panels and door handles
(on some models)can be cleaned with
a commercially available stainless steel
cleaner. A spray-on stainlesssteel cleaner
works best.
Donot useappliance wax or polish
on the stainlesssteel.
Keep the outside clean. Wipe with a
clean cloth lightly dampened with kitchen
appliance wax or mild liquiddish detergent.
Dry and polishwith a clean,soft cloth.
Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled
dish cloth or wet towel. These may leave
a residue that can erode the paint. Do not
usescouring pads, powdered cleaners,
bleach or cleaners containing bleach
because these products can scratch
and weaken the paint finish.
Cleaning the Inside
Tohelp prevent odors, leavean open box
of baking soda in the fresh food and freezer
compartments.
Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.
Ifthis isnot practical, wring excessmoisture
out of sponge or cloth when cleaning around
switches, lights or controls.
Usewarm water and baking sodasolution-
about a tablespoon (15ml)of baking soda to
a quart (! liter)of water. Thisboth cleans and
neutralizes odors. Rinseand wipe dry.
Use of any cleaning solution otherthan
that which is recommended, especially
those that contain petroleum distillates,
can crack or damage the interior of the
refrigerator.
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves with hot
water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break.
Handle glass shelves carefully. Bumping
tempered glass can cause it to shatter.
Do not wash any plastic refrigerator parts
in the dishwasher.
Thechill/thaw tray is dishwasher safe.

Behind the Refrigerator
Becareful when moving the refrigerator awag
from the wall. Alltgpes of floor coverings can
be damaged, particularlg cushioned coverings
and those with embossed surfaces.
When pushing the refrigerator buck, make
sure gou don't roll over the power cord or
icemuker supplg line (on some models).
Pullthe refrigerator straight out and return itto
position bg pushing it straight in. Moving the
refrigerator in u sidedirection mug result in
damage to the floor covering or refrigerator.
Preparing for Vacation
Forlong vacations or absences,remove food
and unplug the refrigerator. Clean
the interior with u bakingsoda solution
of one tablespoon (15ml)of baking sodato
one quart (1liter)of water. Leavethe doors
open.
Setthe icemaker power switch
to the OFFpositionand shut off
the water supplg to the refrigerator.
If the temperature can drop below freezing,
have u qualified servicerdrain
the water supplg sgstem (on some models)
to prevent serious propertg damage due
to flooding.
Preparing to Move
Secureall looseitems such as shelvesand
drawers bg taping them securelg in place
to prevent damage.
When usingu hand truck to move the
refrigerator,do not restthe front or buck
of the refrigerator against the hand truck.
Thiscould damage the refrigerator. Handle
onlg from the sidesof the refrigerator.
Be sure the refrigerator stags in an upright
position during moving.

After replacing the bulb with an appliance
bulb of the same or lower wattage,
replacethe light shieldand screw.When
replacing the light shield, make sure that
the tabs at the back
ofthe shieldfit into the slotsat
the back ofthe light shield housing.
Plugthe refrigerator back in.

This light is located above the top drawer.
0 Unplug the refrigerator.
Liftthe light shield up and pull itout.
After replacingthe bulb with an appliance
bulb of the same or lower wattage,
replacethe shield.
Plug the refrigerator back in.
Freezer Compartment
Unplugthe refrigerator.
0Removethe shelfjust above the light
shield.(Theshelf will be easierto remove
if it isemptied first.)Removethe screw at
the top of the light shield.
Toremove the light shield,press in on the
sides,and lift up and out.

Replace the bulb with an appliance
bulb of the same or lower wattage,
and reinstall the light shield. When
reinstalling the light shield, make sure
the top tabs snap securelg
into place. Replace the screw.
Reinstall the shelf and plug the
refrigerator back in.
Dispenser (onsomemodels)
Unplugthe refrigerator.
0 Thebulb is located on the dispenser
under the control panel.
Removethe light bulb bg turning
it counterclockwise.
Replace the bulb with a bulb of the
same size and wattage.
Plug the refrigerator back in.
Replacing the lights on models with LEDlighting
Setting the controls to OFF does not remove power to the light circuit.
Not all features are on all models.

PREPARATION
WATER SUPPLY TO THE ICEMAKER
If the refrigerator has an icemaker, it will hove to be
connected to a cold water line. AGE water supplg
kit (containing tubing, shutoff valve, fittings and
instructions) is available

Installation Instructions
MOVINGTHEREFRIGERATOR
E] LOADING THE REFRIGERATOR ONTO A
HAND TRUCK
Leave all tape and door pads on doors until the
refrigerator is in its final location.
To move the refrigerator, use a padded hand
truck. Center the refrigerator on the hand truck
and secure the strap around the refrigerator.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE STRAP.
FI REMOVE THE BASE GRILLE
Remove the grille by removing the two
Phillips head screws.
If the refrigerator must go through ang
entrance that is less than
38" wide, the doors must be removed.
Proceed to Step 3.
DO NOT remove the handles.
If all entrances are more than
38" wide, skip to Installing
the Refrigerator.
F_ DISCONNECT THE WATER COUPLING
(on some models)
If the refrigerator has a water dispenser, there
is a water line from the cabinet into the bottom
hinge on the freezer door that must be
disconnected.
To disconnect, push in on the white collar of
the coupling and pull out the tubing.

there are electrical connectors (harnesses) from
