Additional Specifications
• A 115 w)lt 60Hz., 15 or 20 amp power suI)ply is
required. An individual i)roperly grounded branch
circuit or circuit breaker is reconm_ended. Install
a i)roi)erly grounded 3-i)rong electrical receptacle
recessed into the back wall.
NOTE: GF] (ground fimlt interlui)ter ) is not
recoil] i_lended.
• Water line can enter the oi)ening through the floor
or through an a(!jacent cabinet, as close to the back
wall as possible. The water line should be 1/4" O.D.

MATERIALS REQUIRED
•1/40.D. compression nut and 2 ferrules (sleeves)
FLOORING
For proper installation, this refrigerator must be placed
on a level surface of hard material that is at the same
height as the rest of the flooring. This surface should be
strong enough to sui)port a flflly loaded refl'igerator.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Protect the finish of the flooring.
Cut a large section of the cardboard carton and place
trader the refrigerator where you are working.
GROUNDING THE REFRIGERATOR
IMPORTANT -(Please read carefully)
FOR PERSONAl, SAFETY, THIS APPI,IANCE MUST
BE PROPERLY GROUNDED.
The power cord of this appliance is equipped with
a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates with a
standard 3-prong (grounding) wall receptacle to
minimize the possibility of electric shock hazard from
this appliance.
Haxe the wall outlet and circuit checked by a
qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is

Where a standard 2-prong wall outlet is encountered,
it is your personal responsibility and obligation to
have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong

[STEP 1 ]MOVE REFRIGERATOR
INDOORS
IMPORTANT:
into the installation location require a 36" rain. oi,enin.,,
If the oi)enino,_ is less than 36", the top cap and doors
i11_1_need to be remoxed.
NOTE: Skip this step if door remoxal is not required.
See instluctions on next page, "To Moxe The
Refrigerator Indoors."
NOTE: To prevent damage, leave inside
packaging, door spacer and outside
protective wrap in place until the refit is
moved to the installation location.
REMOVE THE DOORS
The top cap must be removed to access hinges. It is best
to I'elllOVe one door at a tilne.
A. Remove 2 screws and springs on top of the
refrigerator; one on each side. Push the top cap
forward and lilt up from the rear.
B. Remove 9 screws holding the top filler strip, litt off.
C. Open both doors. Remove the 2 toekick screws and
pull fl_rward to I'elllove.
D. Disconnect the water line coupler by i)ushing against
the collar on the leti side. Disconnect wire harness.
E. Remove 2 screws holding top hinge to the case.

[STEP 1] (continued)
To move the refrigerator indoors:
• Place a piece of tile carton or soft cloth against tile
side panel of tile refl'igerator to pad and protect tile
stainless steel finish.
• Place the refl'igerator on tile handtruck with a side
against the truck only,
• Move the refrigerator indoors.
REINSTALL DOORS
Refer to the illustration on page 5.
• Careflllly, route tile water line tubing and electrical
through the fl'eezer side bottom hinge. I,ower the
door onto bottom hinge,
• Secure top hinge,
• Insert tile tubing all tile way into tile coupler.
• Reconnect the wiring harness.
• Replace top filler strip.
• Replace top cap with original screws and springs.
HINT: Use tape or Perlna (;Uln to i)revent tile spring
fl'oln sliding off tile screw.
Follow tile salne procedure to reinstall tile fl'esh fl)od door,
ISTEP2] INSTALL WATER LINE
• A cold water supply is required fl)r automatic
icelnaker oi)eration. Tile water i)ressure in list be
between 40 and 120 p.s.i.
• Route l/4" OD COl)per tubing between house cold
water line and tile water connection location.
• Measure tile distance fl'om tile water wllve on tile
back of tile refl'igerator to tile water supply line.
Add 8 toot length to allow the refi'igerator to be
moved away fi'om the wall alter installation, Bend
the tubing into 3 coils of about 10",
NOTE: The only GE approved plastic tubing is
supplied in GE SmartCmmec( '_Refrigerator Tubing
kits. Do not use any other plastic water supply line
because the line is under pressure at all times. Certain
types of plastic will crack or rupture with age and
cause water damage to your home.
GE SmartConnect _ Refrigerator Tubing FAts are
awlilable in the fi_llowing lengths:
2' (.6 m) - _XOSXlO002
6' (1.8 m) - WXO8XIO006
15' (4.6 m) - WXO8XIO015
25' (7.6 m) - WXO8X10025
Shut off the main water supply.
Turn on tile nearest taucet long enough to clear tile
line of water.
•Install a shut-off valve between tile icenlaker water
valve and cold water pipe in a baseu_ent or cabinet.
Tile shut-off valve should be located where it will be
easily accessible.
NOTE: It is best to install the wllve into a vertical water
pipe. If you install the wllve into a horizontal water
pipe, inake the COlmection at the top or side, to avoid
drawing off anv sediu_ent from tile water pipe.

• Drill a 1/4" hole in tile water pii)e.
• Fasten the shut-off wllve to the pipe with pipe clami),
• Tighten the claln I) screws until the sealing washer
begins to swell. Do not over tighten.
• Place a compression nut and teriule (sleeve) onto the
end of tile tubing and connect it to tile shut-ott wllve.
Make sure the tubing is flllly inserted into the wllve
and tbHule is tightened.
• Turn on tile nlain water supply and f]ush debris.
Run about a quart of water through tile tubing into
a bucket. Sh lit off water supply at the sh lit-off waive.
NOTE: Saddle type shut-off wllves are included in manv
water supply kits. Betore i)urchasing, make sure a saddle
type valve complies with wmr local phunbing codes.
NOTE: (2/um_onwealth of Massachusetts Plumbing
Codes 248CMR shall be adhered to. Saddle waives are
illegal and use is not permitted in Massachusetts.

IStep 2AI WATER LINE
INSTALLATION WITH
A REVERSE OSMOSIS
SYSTEM
Skip this step when not using RO System
IMPORTANT:
When connecting to a (;E reverse osmosis water
s\'stem to your refrigerator; tile (;E RVI(it must be
used. For other reverse osmosis water systems, tollow
tile illan/ll;ictlli'ei"s i'ecoi//i//endations.
If tile water supply to tile refl'igerator is fl'Oln a
Reverse Osmosis Water System, use tile refl'igerator's
filter bypass plug. Using tile refrigerator's water
filtration cartridge with tile RO filter can result in
hollow ice cubes and slower water flow ti'Oln tile water
dispenser.

Check to be sure that refligerator power cord is not
plugged into tile wall outlet.

If you are using copper tubing:
• Place compression nut and tk_Hule (sleeve) onto
tile end of tile tubing coming from tile house
water suppl>
• Insert the end of the copper tubing into the
refl'igerator connection at tile back of tile
refl'igerator, as flu" as possible. Hold the tubing
in place and tighten the fitting.
If you are using GE SmartCmmect'" tubing:
•Insert the molded end of tile tubing into tile
refl'igerator connection, at tile back of tile
refrigerator, and tighten tile compression ntlt
until it is hand tight.
• Then tighten one additional turn with a wrench.
Overtightening may ca use leaks.
• Fasten tile tubing into tile clamp provided to hold
it in position. You may need to pry open tile clamp.
• Turn on tile water at tile shut-ott valve to check
tier leaks.
ISTEP 41CONNECT POWER
• Connect refl'igerator power cord plug to a properly
grounded receptacle.
• Check to make s/u'e power to refrigerator is on by
opening reli'igerator door to see if interior lights
are on.
ISTEP 51MOVE REFRIGERATOR
INTO POSITION
•Remoxe outside protectixe wrapping.
• Moxe tile refrigerator into final installation position.
• I_elnoxe door spacer and all inside I)ackaging.,,

[STEP 6] LEVEL REFRIGERATOR
The refl'igerator can be leveled by a_!justing the
rollers located near the bottom hin_es.
Raise
Rollers
Rollers have three purposes:
• The rollers a(!just so that the door closes easily
when opened about hall\ray. (Raise the fl'ont about
5/8" l16 mm ] fl'om the floor.)
• Rollers at!just so allow the refl'igerator to be firmly
positioned on the floor and to prevent rocking
when the doors are opened and closed.
• The rollers allow you to move the refl'igerator fl'om
the wall for cleaning.
To level the refrigerator:
• I,evel the refl'igerator by turning the roller
a(!justlnent screws clockwise to raise the refrigerator,
counterclockwise to lower the refrigerator.
• Use a 3/8" hex socket, wrench or ac!justable wrench.
Roller Adjusting Screws
Rollers at the rear can also be adjusted.
• Use a 5/16" hex socket to tm'n the screws tor the
rear rollers. Tm'n the screws clockwise to raise the
refrigeratm; ttlrn cotu_terclockwise to lower it.
[STEP 7] LEVEL THE DOORS
If the doors are not evenly aligned at the top, the
refrigerator door can be a(!justed.
• Use a 7/16" hex socket or wrench to turn the door
ac!justing screw. Turn the screw to the right to raise
the dora; ttlrn left to lower the door.

NOTE: A nyhm plug is imbedded in the threads of
the pin. The plug is designed to prevent the pin fl'om
tm'ning. A wrench must be used to turn the pin.

the reti'igerator door to check aligmnent with the
freezer door at the top. A(!just again if necessary:

[STEP 8] START ICEMAKER
• Flip the switch to l (ON) position. The icemaker
will not begin to operate until it reaches its
operating temperature of 15°F (-9°C)or below.
It will then begin operation automaticallv. It will
take 2 to 3 days to fill the ice bin.
• Be sure nothing interteres with the sweep of the
teeler arm. Do not place objects in the path of the
feeler arm.
• Discard the first flfll bucket of ice cubes.
• To turn the icemaker off, set the switch to O (OFF).
ISTEP91TEMPERATURE
CONTROLS
• The temperature controls are preset at 37 ° fi_r the
refl'igerator and 0°F for the freezer.
• Allow 24 hours to stabilize befln'e making
a(!justments.
ISTEP101INSTALL TOEKICK
• Press toekick into position and reinstall one screw
on each side.
