2 Product liability
In accordance with the liability of manufacturers for their products as dened in the German
“Produkthaftungsgesetz” (Product Liability Act), the information contained in these instructions (product
information and intended use, misuse, product performance, product maintenance, obligations to provide
information and instructions) is to be observed. Non-observance releases the manufacturer from their statutory
liability.

3 Safety
3.1 Intended use
The Slimdrive SL NT is designed solely for use
àin dry rooms
àin automatic door systems for horizontally moving door leaves
àin entrances and interior areas of pedestrian trac, in commercial plants and public areas
The Slimdrive SL NT and the Slimdrive SL NT-FR must not be used as re or smoke control door drives.
The Slimdrive SL NT-FR is approved for use in emergency exits.
The Slimdrive SL NT must not be used as an emergency exit.
3.2 Safety instructions
àThe mandatory installation, maintenance and repair work must be performed by properly trained personnel
authorised by GEZE.
àThe country-specic laws and regulations are to be observed during safety-related tests.
àGEZE shall not be liable for injuries or damage resulting from unauthorised modication of the system, and
the approval for use in emergency exits is voided when unauthorised changes are made (Slimdrive SL NT-FR).
àGEZE is not liable if products from other manufacturers are used with GEZE equipment.
àFurthermore, only original GEZE parts may be used for repair and maintenance work.
àThe connection to the power supply must be made by a professional electrician. Perform the power connec-
tion and equipment earth conductor test in accordance with VDE 0100 Part 610.
àUse a customer-accessible 10-A overload cut-out as the line-side disconnecting device.
àProtect the display programme switch against unauthorised access.
àThe detection eld of the movement detector in the direction of the emergency exit must satisfy the AutSchR
directive.
àIn compliance with Machine Directive 2006/42/EC, a risk analysis must be performed and the door system
identied in accordance with CE Identication Directive 93/68/EEC before the door system is commissioned.
àObserve the latest versions of guidelines, standards and country-specic regulations, in particular:
àTechnical rules for workplaces ASR A1.7 “doors and gates”
àDIN 18650 “Building hardware – Automatic door systems”
àVDE 0100, Part 610 “Erection of low-voltage installations”
àAutSchR “Directive for automatic windows, doors and gates” (for Slimdrive SL NT-FR)
àAccident-prevention regulations, especially BGV A1 “General regulations” and BGV A2 “Electrical systems
and equipment”
àDIN EN 60335-2-103 “Safety of electrical devices for home use and similar purposes; special requirements
for drives for gates, doors and windows”

3.3 Safety conscious working
àSecure workplace against unauthorised entry.
àWatch pivoting range of long parts.
àNever carry out work with a high safety risk (e.g. installing the drive, cover or door leaf) while alone.
àSecure the cover/drive panels against falling.
àUse only cables prescribed in the cable plan provided. Lay shields in accordance with the wiring diagram.
àSecure loose, internal drive cables with cable ties.
àBefore working on the electrical system:
àDisconnect the drive from the 230 V mains and check to ensure that it is not supplied with power.
àDisconnect the control from the 24 V battery.
àNote that if an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is used, the system will still be supplied with power
despite the fact that the power supply is disconnected.
àAlways use insulated wire-end ferrules for wire cores.
àAttach safety stickers to glass door leaves.
àDanger of injury with opened drive. Hair, clothing, cables, etc. can be drawn in by rotating parts!
àDanger of injury through unsecured crushing, impact, drawing-in or shearing spots!
àDanger of injury by broken glass!
àDanger of injury due to sharp edges in the drive!
àDanger of injury during installation through freely moving parts!
3.4 Inspection of the installed system
Measures for security and prevention of pinching, impact, shearing or drawing-in spots:
àCheck the functioning of safety sensors and movement detectors.
àThe detection eld of the movement detector in the direction of the emergency exit must cover the opening
width x 1.5 m in front of the door.
àThe movement detector in the direction of the emergency exit (see AutSchR) must detect people moving
faster than 0.1 m/s.
àCheck protective earth connection to all metal parts that can be touched.
àPerform a safety analysis (risk analysis).
3.5 Environmentally conscious working
àWhen disposing of the door system, separate the dierent materials and have them recycled.
àDo not dispose of batteries and storage cells with household waste.
àComply with the statutory regulations when disposing of the door system and the batteries/rechargeable
batteries.

5 Pre-installation
The most up-to-date diagram is applicable for performing the pre-installation work. All components must be
identied and installed in accordance with the drive diagram.
5.1 Cutting the running rail and cover to size
XXCut the running rail and cover to the required
length.
5.2 Fitting the brush
XXCut the brush (1) to the required length and
insert into the running rail (2).
5.3 Fitting the side plates
XXScrew the sheet-metal part (2) for securing
the cover in the left-hand and right-hand side
panels (3).
XXFit the side panels on the running rail (1).
XXPlace the stop buers (4) on the far left and
right of the running rail.
XXTighten the setscrews (5) slightly. The exact po-
sition of the stop buers (4) is specied during
door leaf installation.

5.4 Fitting the left-hand module bearer
XXFit the left-hand module bearer in compliance with the drawing.
5.5 Connecting the alarm contact to the locking device (optional)
XXOnly screw the red locking pin (1) in again after the cover has been placed on.
XXRemove screws M2.3 x 10 on the feedback
switch (4) of the locking mechanism.
XXPlace the alarm contact switch (3) on the
feedback switch (4).
XXFix both switches in place on the locking
mechanism using M2.3 x 18 (2) screws and
spring washers.
XXConnect cable.
XXShorten the switching ag of the alarm contact
switch.
5.6 Connecting the cable to the left-hand module bearer
XXLay cable (2) to the toothed belt locking
(optional) (1), cut to size if necessary, strip and
attach the insulated wire-end ferrules.
XXPull the plug (3) for the connection transformer
o the control unit.
XXConnect the three-core transformer cable to
the plug (3).
Leave the overall length of the transformer cable.

Pre-installation
XXFit the three-core transformer cable (4) to
terminal (5) of the transformer.
5.7 Fitting the right-hand module bearer
XXFit the right-hand module bearer as shown in the drawing.

5.9 Pre-positioning the pre-mounted module bearer, left and right
XXFasten the pre-mounted module bearer left (2) and right (3) with one screw each to the running rail (1).
XXFit the cover (4).
XXApply the stickers, see the drive drawing:
àInformation plate (enter the date of manufacture, supplement digits of Classes 5 and 7)
àTÜV sticker

5.10 Pre-mounting the roller carriage on the door leaf

XXSlide the clamping plate (1) into the connect-
ing prole.
XXSlide the roller carriage (2, 4) into the
connecting prole (3).
XXSecure both roller carriages (2, 4) with
2 setscrews (5) each.

Pre-installation
XXMount the short driver (6) to the clamping
plate (1) using 2 screws.
ForX2-leafXsystems
XXSlide the roller carriage (2, 4) into the
connecting prole (3).
XXSecure the roller carriage (towards the
secondary closing edge) using setscrews (5).
The angled part (8) of the connection prole
must be facing the main closing edge.
XXMount the long driver (7) to the roller
carriage (4) using 2 screws.

XXMount the continuous roller carriage on the
door leaves with the supporting brackets (8).
XXCheck whether the thread lies ush with the
xing holes.
XXIf necessary, loosen the supporting brackets
on the door leaf and move them.
XXScrew the supporting brackets tight again.

XXSecure workplace against unauthorised entry.
XXAlways perform work with a second technician.
XXUse a stepladder or stepstool.
XXKeep inside area of running rail clean.
6.1 Preparations on site
Check the on-site preparations to ensure proper installation:
àType and loading capacity of the façade construction or base construction
àEvenness of the installation surface
àEvenness of the nished ooring
àRequirements of the cable plan
6.2 Installation
6.2.1 Mounting the drive (Part 1)
XXRemove the cover and the pre-assembled module bearer.

XXInsert the intermediate plates (1) onto the rear of the running rail.
àUpper row of drill holes for wall mounting
àLower row of drill holes for the clip of the intermediate plate
Mounting can also be carried out conversely depending on the building structure (dead bolt design). However,
use the upper row of drill holes for xing if possible.

XXProtect the running surface from damage.
XXPrepare cable routing in accordance with local conditions.
XXMount the running rail (2) on the base construction.
XXInstall light barrier proles/draught sealing proles according to local conditions (see installation diagram).
XXInstall the oor guide.
6.2.2 Fitting the door leaf
WARNING!
Danger of injury by broken glass!
XXAlways mount the door leaf together with another person.
WARNING!
Danger of crushing!
The door leaves are still unsecured and slide easily.
XXMake sure that the door leaves are not moved accidentally or by unauthorised persons.
XXRemove the roller carriage again from the
door leaf.
XXLoosen screws (1) to loosen the track-sup-
porting rollers.

XXInsert roller carriage (2) into the running rail (1) as shown below.
XXInsert the mounting aid (3) as shown below to secure the roller carriage in the running rail.

XXPush the track-supporting rollers (4) upwards
and tighten using screws (5).
6.2.3 Suspending the door leaf and screwing it in place.
XXMove the roller carriage (1) into the door
opening (4).
XXSuspend the door leaf (3) on the height
adjustment screws (6).
XXScrew the door leaf in place using screws (7).
Do not tighten screws yet.
XXMove the door leaf (3) to the side using the
oor guide (5).
XXSuspend the other door leaf (2) in the same
way.

6.2.4 Adjusting door leaves
XXObserve the applicable standards and guidelines on crushing, shearing and drawing-in spots.

XXPlace wedge under the door leaf.
XXUse the hanger bolts (3) to align the door leaf ush. Ensure the same height and parallel closing edges when
doing so.
XXLoosen the clamping screws for height adjustment (1).
XXUse the setting screw (2) (ring spanner size 8) to adjust the height of the door leaves.
2-leaf:Xadjust the height of both door leaves.
XXTighten the screws (1) and (3).
XXRemove the mounting aid.
XXMove the door leaf into the open position.
XXLoosen the hexagon socket screws (4) of the
stop buer.
XXPush the stop buer on the roller carriages.
XXTighten the hexagon socket screws (4).
XXHeed shearing and drawing-in spots in
accordance with DIN 18650, see safety
analysis.
XXMake the individual door leaves move
smoothly.
XXUse the same procedure for the second door
leaf.

6.2.5 Fitting the pre-assembled module bearer on the left and right
WARNING!
Unsecured components may fall when under load.
XXWhen mounting the module bearer, make sure that its entire length is suspended in the running rail (2).
XXPosition the right module bearer (3) in such a way that it does not collide with the motor.
XXPosition the left module bearer (1) in such a way that it does not collide with the locking mechanism or the
return pulley.
XXScrew the pre-assembled module bearer left (1) and right (3) to the running rail (2).
Tightening torques, see drive diagram.
6.2.6 Mounting the toothed belt
XXThread the toothed belt on the motor pulley
and return pulley, shorten if necessary.
XXInsert toothed belt ends (1) into the toothed
belt lock (2) (3 teeth per side).
XXFit the toothed belt lock (2) with screws (4)
onto the short driver (3).
XXDo not tighten screws yet.

6.2.7 Tensioning the toothed belt
XXThe toothed belt must be pre-tensioned with 300 N ±35 N (see drive drawing).
XXLoosen 2 screws (2).
XXPush the motor (3) to the right by hand.
XXLoosen the screw (1) and move the sliding
block in such a way that a screwdriver can be
pushed between the sliding block and the
motor.
XXTighten the screw (1).
XXPush the screwdriver into the gap and turn it
until the toothed belt is tensioned.
XXTighten the 2 screws (2).
6.2.8 Setting the closing position for 2-leaf systems
XXPush the door leaf to the closed position.
XXFit second belt locks, do not tighten screws (2) yet.
XXUse the long holes (1) to nely adjust the position in the direction of displacement.
XXTighten the screws (2) when the exact closing position has been set.
6.2.9 Connecting the left and right module carriers to the power supply
XXConnect the transformer cable (1) to the
control unit.

XXFix the cable holder (2) to the running rail.
XXFix the cable holder (3) to the control unit.
XXRoute the transformer cable (1) through the cable holder to the control unit.
6.2.10 Connecting the toothed belt locking (optional) and control unit

XXWhen tting the cover (3) make sure that no cables become jammed.
XXPlug the cable toothed belt locking (optional) (1) in at the control unit (2).
XXLay cable to the toothed belt locking (optional), shorten if necessary, strip and attach the insulated wire-end
ferrules.
XXConnect the cable to the toothed belt locking (optional) (see chapter 5.4) (see wiring diagram).
XXPlace cover (3) on control unit and lock in place. The retention force of the cover can be increased by slightly
bending the cover.
6.2.11 Mounting the safety equipment
XXFit safety and actuation equipment.
XXRoute cables properly in cable ducts.
XXShorten excessive cable lengths or x them in place safely using cable ties.

6.2.12 Installing switches/buttons

6.2.14 Mounting the earthing
XXScrew the earthing (1) onto the running rail.
XXDepending on the drive position, attach 1 or 2 of the following earthing points:
ànext to the module bearer on the left (see gure)
àat the end of the running rail to earth the cover
6.2.15 Positioning the toothed-belt locking (optional)

XXClose the door leaves.
XXLoosen the screws (1) at the toothed belt locking (optional).
XXAlign the locking device to the toothed belt.
XXTighten screws (1).
XXLightly lubricate sliding surfaces.
The driver must not come into contact with the toothed belt locking (optional) during operation.
