Preparing YourComputer
Computermotherboardsand expansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou
workon yourcomputer.
1.Unplug yourcomputerwhen working onthe inside.
2.Useagroundedwriststrap beforehandlingcomputercomponents.Ifyou do nothaveone,
touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygrounded objectortoametalobject, suchasthe power
supplycase.
3.Holdcomponentsbythe edgesand trynottouchthe ICchips,leadsorconnectors,orother
components.
4.Placecomponentson agrounded antistaticpad oron thebag thatcamewiththe components
wheneverthe componentsareseparated fromthe system.
5.EnsurethattheATXpowersupplyisswitched off beforeyou plug inorremovethe ATXpower
connectoronthemotherboard.
Installing themotherboardtothechassis
Ifthemotherboardhasmountingholes,buttheydon'tlineup withtheholesonthebaseandthereare
noslotstoattachthe spacers,do notbecomealarmedyou can still attachthespacerstothemounting
holes.Justcutthebottomportionofthespacers(thespacermaybe alittlehardtocutoff,sobe carefulof
yourhands).Inthiswayyou can still attachthe motherboardtothe basewithoutworrying aboutshort
circuits.Sometimesyoumayneed tousetheplasticspringstoisolatethe screwfromthe motherboard
PCBsurface,becausethe circuitwiremaybe nearbythe hole.Becareful,don'tletthe screwcontact
anyprintedcircuitwriteorpartson thePCBthatarenearthe fixinghole,otherwiseitmaydamage the
boardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

Tosetup yourcomputer,you mustcompletethe following steps:

The systembusfrequency can be switched at100/133/166/200MHzbyadjusting systemjumper(JP1).
(The internalfrequency depend on CPU.)
The "JP1"mustsetto"Auto"when you areusing
FSB 266/333/400MHzCPU.

Step2:Install theCentralProcessing Unit(CPU)
Beforeinstalling the processor,adheretothe following warning:
1.Pleasemakesurethe CPUtype issupported bythe motherboard.
2.The processorwill overheatwithoutthe heatsinkand/orfan,resulting inpermanent
irreparabledamage.
3. If you do notmatchthe CPUsocketPin1and CPUcutedge well,itwill cause
improperinstallation.Pleasechange the insertorientation.
4.Applythermalgreasebetween the processorand cooling fan.
5.Neverrun the processorwithoutthe heatsinkproperlyand firmlyattached.Permanent
damage will result.
6.Pleasesetthe CPUhostfrequency inaccordancewithyourprocessor'sspecifications.
Wedon'trecommend you tosetthe systembusfrequency overthe CPU'sspecification
becausethesespecificbusfrequenciesarenotthe standardspecificationsforCPU,
chipsetand mostofthe peripherals.Whetheryoursystemcan run underthesespecific
busfrequenciesproperlywill depend on yourhardwareconfigurations,including CPU,
Memory,Cards…etc.

uppercorner.Insertthe CPUinto
the socket. (Donotforcethe CPUintothe socket.)Then movethe
socketlevertothe locked position whileholding pressureon the
centerofthe CPU.

Step3:Install MemoryModules
Beforeinstalling the memorymodules,adheretothe following warning:
1.When DIMM LEDisON,do notinstall /removeDIMM fromsocket.
2.Pleasenotethatthe DIMM modulecan onlyfitinone direction due tothe one notch.Wrong
orientation will causeimproperinstallation.Pleasechange the insertorientation.
The motherboardhas3dualinline memorymodule(DIMM)sockets.The BIOSwill automaticallydetects
memorytype and size.Toinstall the memorymodule,justpushitverticallyintothe DIMM socket. The
DIM M modulecan onlyfitinone direction due tothe notch.Memorysizecan varybetween sockets.

2. Insertthe DIM M memorymoduleverticallyinto
the DIMM socket. Then pushitdown.
