2-1 Installation Precautions
The motherboard contains numerous delicate electronic circuits and components which can become
damaged as a result of electrostatic discharge (ESD). Prior to installation, carefully read the user's
manual and follow these procedures:
•Prior to installation, make sure the chassis is suitable for the motherboard.
•Prior to installation, do not remove or break motherboard S/N (Serial Number) sticker or
warranty sticker provided by your dealer. These stickers are required for warranty validation.
•Always remove the AC power by unplugging the power cord from the power outlet before
installing or removing the motherboard or other hardware components.
•When connecting hardware components to the internal connectors on the motherboard, make
sure they are connected tightly and securely.
•When handling the motherboard, avoid touching any metal leads or connectors.
•It is best to wear an electrostatic discharge (ESD) wrist strap when handling electronic
components such as a motherboard, CPU or memory. If you do not have an ESD wrist strap,
keep your hands dry and rst touch a metal object to eliminate static electricity.
•Prior to installing the motherboard, please have it on top of an antistatic pad or within an
electrostatic shielding container.
•Before connecting or unplugging the power supply cable from the motherboard, make sure
the power supply has been turned off.
•Before turning on the power, make sure the power supply voltage has been set according to
the local voltage standard.
•Before using the product, please verify that all cables and power connectors of your hardware
components are connected.
•To prevent damage to the motherboard, do not allow screws to come in contact with the
motherboard circuit or its components.
•Make sure there are no leftover screws or metal components placed on the motherboard or
within the computer casing.
•Do not place the computer system on an uneven surface.
•Do not place the computer system in a high-temperature or wet environment.
•Turning on the computer power during the installation process can lead to damage to system
components as well as physical harm to the user.
•If you are uncertain about any installation steps or have a problem related to the use of the
product, please consult a certied computer technician.
•If you use an adapter, extension power cable, or power strip, ensure to consult with its
installation and/or grounding instructions.

2-3 Installing the CPU and CPU Cooler
Read the following guidelines before you begin to install the CPU:
•Make sure that the motherboard supports the CPU.
(Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest CPU support list.)
•Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before installing the
CPU to prevent hardware damage.
•Locate the pin one of the CPU. The CPU cannot be inserted if oriented incorrectly. (Or you may
locate the notches on both sides of the CPU and alignment keys on the CPU socket.)
•Apply an even and thin layer of thermal grease on the surface of the CPU.
•Do not turn on the computer if the CPU cooler is not installed, otherwise overheating and damage
of the CPU may occur.
•Set the CPU host frequency in accordance with the CPU specications. It is not recommended
that the system bus frequency be set beyond hardware specications since it does not meet the
standard requirements for the peripherals. If you wish to set the frequency beyond the standard
specications, please do so according to your hardware specications including the CPU, graphics
card, memory, hard drive, etc.

Do not remove the CPU socket cover before inserting the CPU. It may pop off from the load
plate automatically after you insert the CPU and close the load plate.

B. Installing the CPU
Follow the steps below to correctly install the CPU into the motherboard CPU socket.

Do not force to engage the CPU socket locking lever when the CPU is not installed correctly
as this would damage the CPU and CPU socket.

jGently press the CPU socket lever handle
down and away from the socket.
kCompletely lift up the CPU socket lock-
ing lever.
lUse the finger tab on the side of the
metal load plate to lift open the metal
load plate with the plastic protective cover
attached to it.
Hold the CPU with your ngers by the edges.
Align the CPU pin one marking (triangle) with
the pin one corner of the CPU socket (or you
may align the CPU notches with the socket
alignment keys) and gently insert the CPU
into position.
Make sure the CPU is properly installed and
then close the load plate. The plastic protec-
tive cover will pop off, just remove it. Secure
the lever under its retention tab to complete
the installation of the CPU.
* Always replace the plastic protective cover
when the CPU is not installed to protect the
CPU socket.

C. Installing the Water Cooling Kit
•Before installing the water cooling kit, ensure the motherboard can boot normally.
•If you want to install an M.2 SSD, you have to install the M.2 SSD rst before installing the water cooling kit.
•The water cooling kit provides a G1/4" inlet and a G1/4" outlet. Please choose the barbs (not
included) that suit your requirements.
•Depending on your hardware requirements, apply appropriate amount of the provided thermal
paste on the water cooling kit.
•After the water cooling kit is placed on the motherboard, press the OC Ignition button rst and then
press the power button to check whether the cooling uid can be injected properly. Then complete the
injection. Unplug the power supply and tighten the screws included in the water cooling kit. The type and
number of the included screws are as below. Make sure you use the right screws before the installation:
Refer to the pictures below to install the water cooling kit on the motherboard.
Step 1: Carefully take the water cooling kit out of its package and remove the protective plastic lms from the
CPU area and thermal pads.
Step 2: Then place the water cooling kit on the motherboard as indicated below. Insert the Type C® connector
on the side of the water cooling kit into the LED_CPU header on the motherboard.

Step 4:
Tighten the three screws (M3*6.5) with washers to the mounting holes in the CPU area (refer to the top right
picture). Then tighten the four screws (M3*6.5) with washers to the mounting holes in the chipset area in a
diagonal sequence (refer to the bottom right picture). Make sure the water cooling kit is securely attached.
Step 3:
Carefully ip the motherboard over, fasten the CPU backplate using the four screws (M3*10.8) in a diagonal
sequence.

Step 5:
Finally, tighten the two screws (M2*6) to secure the water cooling kit to the M.2 standoffs as indicated. After
completing the steps above, connect your water cooling components.

2-4 Installing the Memory
Read the following guidelines before you begin to install the memory:
•Make sure that the motherboard supports the memory. It is recommended that memory of the same
capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used. (Go to GIGABYTE's website for the latest supported
memory speeds and memory modules.)
•Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before installing the
memory to prevent hardware damage.
•Memory modules have a foolproof design. A memory module can be installed in only one direction.
If you are unable to insert the memory, switch the direction.
Dual Channel Memory Conguration
This motherboard provides four memory sockets and supports Dual Channel Technology. After the memory
is installed, the BIOS will automatically detect the specications and capacity of the memory. Enabling Dual
Channel memory mode will double the original memory bandwidth.
The four memory sockets are divided into two channels and each channel has two memory sockets as following:
Channel A: DDR5_A1, DDR5_A2
Channel B: DDR5_B1, DDR5_B2
Due to CPU limitations, read the following guidelines before installing the memory in Dual Channel mode.
1. Dual Channel mode cannot be enabled if only one memory module is installed.
2. When enabling Dual Channel mode with two or four memory modules, it is recommended that memory of
the same capacity, brand, speed, and chips be used.
When installing a single memory module, we recommend that you install it in the DDR5_A2
socket.

Installing the AORUS RGB Memory Armor (Note)
Refer to the illustrations below to install the AORUS RGB Memory Armor.

Step 1:
Remove the connector cap from the LED_DDR header on the motherboard. Then connect the power cable on the
side of the AORUS RGB Memory Armor to the LED_DDR header. (Note: Always replace the connector cap when the AORUS
RGB Memory Armor is not installed.)
Step 2:
Align the AORUS RGB Memory Armor with the motherboard in the direction as indicated below and secure it
with the three included screws (M2*6).
(Note) The AORUS RGB Memory Armor is only compatible with the AORUS Memory DDR5 Module.

2-5 Installing an Expansion Card
Read the following guidelines before you begin to install an expansion card:
•Make sure the motherboard supports the expansion card. Carefully read the manual that came
with your expansion card.
•Always turn off the computer and unplug the power cord from the power outlet before installing an
expansion card to prevent hardware damage.
Follow the steps below to correctly install your expansion card in the expansion slot.
1. Locate an expansion slot that supports your card. Remove the metal slot cover from the chassis back panel.
2. Align the card with the slot, and press down on the card until it is fully seated in the slot.
3. Make sure the metal contacts on the card are completely inserted into the slot.
4. Secure the card's metal bracket to the chassis back panel with a screw.
5. After installing all expansion cards, replace the chassis cover(s).
6. Turn on your computer. If necessary, go to BIOS Setup to make any required BIOS changes for your
expansion card(s).
7. Install the driver provided with the expansion card in your operating system.

2-6 Setting up an AMD CrossFire™ Conguration
(Note) The bridge connector(s) may be needed or not depending on your graphics cards.
A. System Requirements
-Windows 10 64-bit operating system
-A CrossFire-supported motherboard with two PCI Express x16 slots and correct driver
-CrossFire-ready graphics cards of identical brand and chip and correct driver
-CrossFire(Note) bridge connector
-A power supply with sufcient power is recommended (Refer to the manual of your graphics cards for the
power requirement)
B. Connecting the Graphics Cards
Step 1:
Observe the steps in "2-5 Installing an Expansion Card" and install the graphics cards on the PCIEX16 and
PCIEX8 slots.
Step 2:
Insert the CrossFire(Note) bridge connectors in the CrossFire gold edge connectors on top of the cards.
Step 3:
Plug the display cable into the graphics card on the PCIEX16 slot.
C. Conguring the Graphics Card Driver
To Enable CrossFire Function
After installing the graphics card driver in the operating
system, go to the AMD RADEON SETTINGS screen.
Browse to Gaming\Global Settings and ensure AMD
CrossFire is set to On.
