WATER SOFTENER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1) Softeners shoul always be installe on firm level groun .
2) The supplies to the softener shoul be capable of being isolate as close as
possible to the softener an a pipe by-pass shoul be inclu e if the softener oes
not alrea y have one.
3) The connections shoul be ma e with flexible hoses with regar to the flow
irection arrows on the connection manifol an the push fit hose connection for the
rain shoul be run to an open faucet to prevent syphonage. If the unit is supplie
with a separate salt tank, you will nee to connect the brine line from the air check
elbow to the tank, ensuring the brass inserts are fitte within the pipe.
4) The incoming supply to the softener shoul inclu e a non-return valve.
5) It is important that a pressure test is carrie out, the maximum working pressure is 5
bar, minimum pressure 1.4 bar.
6) The provision of an overflow in case of overfilling of the brine tank shoul also be
provi e to the “push fit” elbow on the si e of the tank.
7) Connect the transformer provi e to a continuous electrical supply with the power
offer. Plug the flying lea from the transformer into the electrical connection on the
controller. Ensure flying lea cannot get caught on the camshaft or any moving
parts on the softener valve.
Preparing and putting oftener into ervice
8) Now the all the connections have been complete put approximately 5 litres of
water into the brine tank. You may also at this point put a quantity of salt into the
tank. Do not allow the salt level in the brine tank to excee the height of the
overflow. The amount of salt use will epen on the type an mo el of the softener
you have, you shoul never let the brine tank become empty of salt an it is
a visable to check the salt levels on a regular basis until a usage pattern has been
establishe .
9) You shoul now complete any programming instructions that may apply to your
particular softener. During the commissioning process an initial regeneration you
can confirm that the softener has no leaks from the installation valves an that the
water runs free. This regeneration will also assist in cleaning any potential air locks
that may be present within the system. The regeneration will also reset any internal
meter or timer evices that ictate the frequency of the regeneration cycle. Use this
setting to set the frequency of regeneration. Set to 2 if unsure.
